Upon visiting an Authorized Volkswagen dealer service center was charged $200 for ABS diagnostic fee and told the ABS Control Module has failed and I will need to pay >$2900 to replace. ABS, ESP/ASR, airbag, and parking brake lights are now permanently active as a result and not certain these systems are functioning.

There are numerous complaints about the same situation on this and other model VW cars of this year all over the internet forums. The ABS module was diagnosed as defective by mechanic shop.

- Summary: I noticed a common problem among MK6 GTI owners of the steering wheel messing up, causing many issues such as broken airbags, the horn not work, cruise control stopped, etc., and since I have the issue (air bag symbol, horn, no cruise control) as well I was wondering what could be done. This happened after a near-accident/close call and when I tried to honk it didnt work. It could've been for any situation and a car horn is very important. That on top of the fact that if I did crash there was a risk of me not even having an air bag. Not to mention the countless inconvenient long drices with no cruise control. I checked the wiring and the wheel/horn is connected properly, and everything else on the dasg works fine.The car has been in a minor accident before and I did take it to a VW dealership for mechanical and body work, so the car should've been fine had they fixed the issue, but the problem is I had zero idea about the recall and I'm assuming they didnt bother to check since I didnt mention, and so the issue was hidden away. I did in fact however call the dealership and call to ask if they perhaps incorrectly ordered a wrong oart or something, but they assured me that the car was handled to their best extent. I doubt fixing the issue would have been a bother, so they wouldve done it had they know. I'm 99% sure this is the recall affecting my car, and I sure would like some help. Thank you

- Summary: About a month ago, while driving , the abs light, brake light and ESP light came on. After about 2 weeks of troubleshooting, a local mechanic troubleshot the issues to a faulty ABS module. After many phone calls with my local VW dealership I was able to set an appointment for a diagnostic. They determined " Diag ABS system no communication advised on replacement module". The module costing $2,886.04 in parts and labor. With the part not in stock and the dealership saying " no way of knowing when we'll get one in". Over 130,000 VW's same year and model have had this same issue and been recalled but for some reason my vehicle doesn't have a recall on this vin. Both the VW dealership and VW customer care refuse to do anything. I believe this vehicle like many others were missed or ignored during the recall. My vehicle brakes have been sticking and have locked on me once already in the last month while driving. It is a safety hazard to drive.

Vehicle year: 2007
You've had six VW/Audi vehicles over the past five years, including a 2001 GTI 1.8 Manual and a 2005 Audi A4 1.8 manual, but this car is the best of them all! I test drove the new A4 2.0T, as well as the Infiniti G35, and the new BMW 328xi, which are all great cars, but the GTI came out on top in most of the important categories. I had to choose between the GTI 4dr and the BMW 328xi, and for the extra $17,000 for the Bimmer, the decision was easy - take the GTI and save a ton of money! The build quality is fantastic, the interior is high quality and comfortable, the car handles fantastically, and the engine is extremely smooth. This car is both practical and fun!

This car is not only a true driver's car but is also refined and comfortable for a long distance drive. Its moderate pricing sets it apart from more expensive cars such as BMW or Audi. In my initial 5,000 miles and 7 weeks of ownership, I have not experienced any problems with its long term quality.

This is my third GTI (still own my MKI, sold my MKIV). I believe this car is exactly what the GTI should be. The MKVI GTI is fun to drive anywhere, easy to use as a daily commuter, and a blast to use in the mountains. It strikes an excellent compromise between performance and gas mileage. The interior amenities are excellent, the touchscreen stereo is awesome, and the stick shift is smooth and comfortable in your hand. The lateral support is top-notch in a car that urges you to rip it through corners, and once you do, the XDS makes you feel like a pro coming out of them. I'm not sure why so many people fear VW reliability. I've driven them for years and never had any major issues. I must be lucky!

I've owned this car for almost a year and I absolutely love it! It's the perfect sports car for anyone who wants to have fun without sacrificing comfort. I really appreciate the unique styling that sets this car apart from others on the road. The performance is great too! I would recommend avoiding the automatic transmissions in VW's stable as they can be quite horrible. During my test drive, I found that the 1.8T felt similar to the VR6, but with a bit of lag. Although they say there is 'almost no lag', I still felt some. However, the VR6 is an absolute charm! If you're looking for a sports car, I highly recommend getting the VR6. The only downside is that the price isn't as favorable compared to the competition. Thank you for considering my opinion!

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my VW cars. I had an '84 GTi (the original) for 12 years, then a Jetta GLi for 8 more years. After a quick stint with another vehicle, I went back to VW. I was lucky enough to find this car used, with 60k miles already on it. I am now very close to 100k and I absolutely love this car! The only issues I have had were replacing the water pump (normal) and a bad coil pack (normal?). But, I maintain it religiously, running only synthetic oil. I honestly never have to open the hood between changes - it uses absolutely no oil, and the old oil is only moderately dirty after 5k miles. One odd issue - I have to top off the power steering fluid every 5k-6k miles and I see none of it leaking out(?)

5 years of fun so far! I'm happy to report that there's nothing bad to report, but the body has begun to make some creaking sounds. With 55,000 on the odometer, it's time for the timing belt replacement, new tires, and hoses. I've heard that the power steering may become a problem in the future?

I purchased the car when I was in desperate need of a way to get to work and didn't have the time to research it properly. While the turbo is great and provides a fun driving experience, the engine sometimes jumps when I try to give it gas at lower speeds. Unfortunately, the interior is cheaply made and I've already had broken lights, switches, and compartment handles. It's also too easy to leave scratch marks on the interior parts, just rub your fingernail and bits of black dust come right off. Additionally, I only average about 23 mpg which is quite disappointing. For those considering purchasing this car, I would recommend opting for a manual transmission to solve these performance problems instead of an automatic. Lastly, I have experienced issues with the alternator giving out at 40000 miles, which is concerning.

Since purchasing this vehicle, I have experienced multiple issues, including the need for repairs to the power windows on both the right and left sides, as well as a malfunctioning motor. Unfortunately, my interactions with the dealerships and VW customer service have been less than satisfactory. As a result, I have lost confidence in the brand and will not be considering another VW in the future.

Although the car is great to drive and very fun, I have unfortunately experienced several major repairs within the first year of ownership. Despite this, I highly recommend purchasing an extended warranty and I am pleased to report that VW has completed all necessary repairs. However, I must express my extreme dissatisfaction with the car's reliability and overall performance.

I purchased the car from CarMax with 66k miles and experienced no issues during the first year of ownership. However, after that, the car began to experience a number of problems, including issues with the intake manifold, constant EPC, tire, and engine lights, and numerous instances of coil pack failure. Unfortunately, this car has left me stranded on multiple occasions. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this car to anyone unless you enjoy frequent repairs.
