Since the day I drove my car off the lot, I have enjoyed every moment behind the wheel. The ride provides a sporty feel, yet it doesn't punish you over less than perfect roads. I chose the VR6 because of its smooth and quiet operation. The addition of two cylinders goes a long way toward smoothness, which is especially noticeable when you start the car in the morning. Although I've had a few problems, which is unusual for me as I usually have good 'car luck', I still enjoy the car so much that I don't mind the fact that it has spent a total of maybe 5 days at the dealer since I purchased it. I highly recommend this car!

I bought my '04 in May of '04 and immediately installed a chip. I noticed a significant increase in power to 215 horses while still maintaining good gas mileage. The handling is excellent and I can confidently take turns well above the posted speed limit (of course, knowing the car and its limits is important). I also added a K&N filter, which is a must-have. The car is easily modifiable without having to go into the engine block. Although I was considering buying a BMW, my wife has a 328 5-speed and, believe it or not, I actually prefer my GTI. I may still buy a 5 series or a 3 convertible, but a VW will always be in the running. I would definitely buy a VW again. Knock on wood, I have not experienced any mechanical failures, although I did have a sunroof problem that was resolved under warranty.

Great car! Sorry to hear about the pothole incident. It sounds like it was a pretty deep one since it destroyed your entire right wheel. You took it back to the dealership and they had to order a new rim all the way from Germany. It might take a couple of weeks to arrive since they don't have any in stock here. But other than that, it's a fun little car that you get to drive everyday to and from work.

I'm on my second VW now, having previously owned a 2002 Passat. Just like the Passat, the build quality on this car is impeccable. However, unlike the Passat, this car is great for zipping around corners and parking in small spaces. I opted for the leather interior, which is of better quality than my brother's 3 series BMW. The six-speed transmission is quick and precise, making for a very enjoyable ride. The trunk space is surprisingly effective too. In short, this car is perfect for city dwellers who want to enjoy the ride with a friend.

I am the second owner of this car and have owned it for a little over a year. The service history is complete and it has always been serviced by a dealer. Unfortunately, I have had some issues with the fuse box, electric fans, and transmission bearing, which were not covered under warranty and cost me $4,000. It has been a frustrating experience, especially since my previous Ford Maverick was more reliable. On the other hand, my Subaru with 130,000 miles has never had a part fail.
