Up until the 2021 model year, the Sequoia was slotted between the mid-size 4Runner and the premium Land Cruiser in the North American Toyota SUV lineup. With the discontinuation of North American sales of the Land Cruiser from the 2022 model year onward, the Sequoia became the flagship SUV in Toyota's North America lineup.
As of 2021, the Sequoia is sold in the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica. It is offered in left-hand drive only.

They advised me that my 2 Goodyear tires were dry rotting and cracking. The tires were purchased in 5/14/2019. The odometer read 181923 the mileage when they were inspected by Toyota was 205140 a difference of 23,217 miles and show no wear. I called the mechanic stated I purchased the tires in 2010, how could they be dry rotting and cracking. The mechanic looked up the serial number and determined they were made in 2015 and were 8 years old. The tires are P265/65R17 110S S2 WRL SR-A TL MFG. No. M7AHEXWR2316 and M7AHEXWR2315. I can’t understand how you can sell me tires that are 5 years old and pass them off as new. That is not what I bargained for! This is unconscionable and dangerous since this vehicle is used to tow a heavy boat.

The suspension is unstable and joints are worn in many places ball joints and other steering effecting joints. The car makes sudden side movements like the wheel is about to fall off or the tire fell off the time but the tires are properly inflated. Repair estimated are atleast $600 possibly $1200 as it is worn in 2 places The problem is on the passenger side front. The car has 114000 miles. There is no recall on this car but other Sequoias made the same year are recalled This is pretty obvious the problem was in the design and not the date of manufacture.

THAT IS MUCH MORE COST EFFECTIVE THAN THE ACTUAL REPAIR WHICH IS ALMOST $2,500. I CALLED TOYOTA TO NOTIFY THEM OF THE ISSUE AND INQUIRE AS TO WHETHER THEY WOULD EXTEND THE PROGRAM FOR 2008 - 2010 TO 2007 AND AT THIS TIME THEY WILL NOT. WHILE THERE I ASKED ABOUT A FRAME RECALL THAT SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE I HAVE TOLD ME ABOUT. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VIN NUMBER FOR THAT. SO I THOUGHT I WAS IN THE CLEAR. AS WE GET INTO FALL MY FRIENDS ASK ME HOW MY RECALL ON THE FRAME WENT? DID THEY SPRAY THE FRAME OR REPLACE IT. I SAID THEY DID NEITHER. I TOLD THEM WALKER TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THAT. THEY ALL SAID YES THERE WAS. SO I STARTED TO LOOK INTO IT FURTHER AND FINALLY GOT THEM TO ADMIT THERE WAS A RECALL. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THEY DO NOT DO MUST HAVE BEEN THE REASON THE TECH TOLD ME THIS WHEN I WAS THERE FOR THE AIRBAG. NOW I KNOW THIS IS A LIE BECAUSE I HAD A TOYOTA TUNDRA THAT HAD A FRAME RECALL AND WALKER DID THE FRAME REPLACEMENT. SO THEN AFTER GOING FURTHER THEY SAID "OH WE DO NOT DO THE UNDER BODY SPRAY BECAUSE WE ARE NOT LICENSED BY THE CITY TO DO IT". SO THEY GAVE ME THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN BEAVERCREEK OHIO WHICH IS PRETTY CLOSE AS SOMEONE WHO COULD DO IT. SO I CALLED THEM AND THERE WAS ONE GUY IN CHARGE OF THAT AND HE WAS NOT IN. BUT THEY DO NOT TAKE MESSAGES? I CALLED QUITE A FEW TIMES AFTER THAT TO TRY AND SET APPOINTMENT WHICH TOOK A WHILE TO GET. I GO TO APPOINTMENT AND HE SAYS THE FRAME IS BAD BUT IT IS 45 DAYS AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF THE RECALL. A RECALL THAT THEY LIED TO ME ABOUT. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO THEM. THEY LOOKED INTO IT AND SAID SORRY BUT WE WILL BE DOING NOTHING. THEY SAID THEY SENT ME LETTERS OF WHICH I DO NOT RECALL GETTING. THEY DID SEND ME LETTERS FOR THE AIRBAG EVERY MONTH UP UNTIL JUST A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. EVEN THOUGH THAT WORK HAD BEEN DONE. SO I AM NOW DRIVING A TRUCK THEY SAY IS UNSAFE BUT I CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER. THE SERVICE ADVISER EXPLAINED FRAME RECALL REMEDY WAS NOT APPLICABLE BECAUSE THERE WERE PERFORATIONS DISCOVERED IN THE VEHICLES FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS ENTITLED TO A FRAME REPLACEMENT. THE ADVISER EXPLAINED THE FRAME RECALL REPLACEMENT HAS EXPIRED & THAT I NEEDED TO CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMERS RELATIONS TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS CORRECTED. I CALLED THEM. THE TOYOTA CUSTOMERS RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINED THE FRAME RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE EXPIRED JANUARY 31, 2019 & TOYOTA IS NOT ABLE TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOT SURE WHY THERE IS A EXPIRATION DATE ON THIS RECALL IF THERE ARE STILL VEHICLES OUT ON THE ROAD WITH FAULTY VEHICLE FRAMES. I HAVE ATTACHED THE PICTURE OF PERFORATION IN THE FRAME.

2022-01-14
- Manufacturer: Tenneco Automotive
- Components: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
- Summary: Tenneco Automotive (DRiV) is recalling certain aftermarket ball joints for 2004-2007 Toyota Sequoia and 2004-2006 Toyota Tundra vehicles, MOOG part number K80521, K80522, NAPA part number NCP2601633, NCP2601634, ACDelco part number 45D2344, and 45D2345. The ball joint housing may have inadequate hardness, causing premature failure.
- Consequence: A ball joint failure may cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: DRiV will work with distributors to return unsold parts. Dealers will inspect and replace the ball joint as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 17, 2022. Owners may contact DRiV customer service at 1-877-489-6659 or at [email protected].

- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2010-2016 4Runner, 2003-2006 Tundra, 2003-2013 Corolla, 2009-2010 Corolla Matrix, 2004-2005 RAV4, 2002-2007 Sequoia, 2011-2013 Sienna, 2008-2012 Scion xB, 2008-2009 Lexus IS-F, 2007-2012 Yaris and Lexus ES350, 2010-2017 Lexus GX460, 2002-2010 Lexus SC430, 2006-2012 Lexus IS250 and IS350 and 2010-2015 Lexus IS250C and IS350C vehicles. These vehicles had their driver or passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design. The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. The recall began November 20, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are J0A, J0B, and J0C. Lexus' numbers for this recall are JLI, JLJ, and JLK.

- Summary: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.
- Consequence: If damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) notified the agency on May 13, 2015, that they are recalling 2005-2007 Lexus SC, Toyota Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Sequoia, and Pontiac Vibe, and 2005-2006 Toyota Tundra vehicles that were originally sold, or ever registered, in Florida, along the Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan and American Samoa. On June 16, 2015 Toyota expanded the recall to cover an additional 769,055 vehicles, including certain model year 2002-2004 Lexus SC, Toyota Sequoia, 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla Matrix, Toyota Corolla, Pontiac Vibe, and Toyota Tundra vehicles, as well the vehicles covered by the May 13, 2015 notification in the portions of Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas that were not previously included. The inflators in the front passenger air bags are susceptible to rupture in the event of a crash necessitating the deployment of the front passenger air bag.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: 2003-2004 Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles that are recalled under both 15V-043 and 15V-286 are under a Do Not Drive advisory. Owners of these vehicles are advised not to drive their vehicles until the recall remedy has been completed. Toyota will notify their owners. Pontiac Vibe owners will be notified by GM. Dealers will replace the passenger side front air bag, free of charge. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota began the recall on July 13, 2015. Pontiac Vibe owners may contact GM at 1-800-762-2737. GM began the recall on June 29, 2015. NOTE: This recacll supersedes recall 14V-655 in its entirety. On June 16, 2015, Toyota expanded the recall to include an additional 1,270,468 vehicles, including model year 2002-2003 and 2005-2007 Sequoia, 2005-2006 Tundra, 2003-2007 Corolla, 2003-2007 Corolla Matrix, 2003-2007 Pontiac Vibe and 2002-2007 Lexus SC vehicles. This is to address a safety defect in the passenger side frontal air bag inflator which may produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflator to rupture upon deployment of the air bag. This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. A replacement air bag may have been installed, as one example, if a vehicle had been in a crash necessitating the replacement of the passenger side frontal air bag.

2007 Toyota Sequoia is the best vehicle ever made, totally underrated! It will outlast any brand new vehicle! As of 2/22/2023, it is still going strong with no problems, just regular oil changes and tire rotations! With 132,000 miles, it still drives like new. They just don't make vehicles like this anymore!

The Sequoia is one of the best SUVs we have ever owned or test driven. It's a fantastic vehicle and provides one of the smoothest rides. Additionally, it's a great looking car, especially in Arctic Frost, which is one of the most beautiful colors we have ever seen. It's a creamy white with iridescent pearl flakes that make it truly unique. We had the headrest DVDs installed for our boys, which allows them to watch the same or different movies or connect their gamecube, making long trips much more enjoyable. We are thrilled with our Sequoia and plan to keep it in our family for years to come. We have recently switched from being Ford drivers to Toyota and our next Toyota will be a Tundra for my husband.

I must admit, as someone who has never been a fan of Toyota, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this vehicle. While I originally had my heart set on a diesel Mercedes, I found the MB 7 speed transmission to be quite unpleasant. In contrast, the transmission in this Toyota is much smoother and less intrusive. I'm not sure how long I'll keep it, but for now, I'm really enjoying the ride.

I've had this SUV since 2001 when they first came out and it has 116,000 miles on it. I'm hoping for another 116,000 miles! I love the great styling and it's so cool to see so many of them on the road. I can't wait to see the new styling!
