2005 Toyota Land cruiser problems
The Toyota Land Cruiser (Japanese: トヨタ・ランドクルーザー, Hepburn: Toyota Rando-Kurūzā) (also sometimes spelled as LandCruiser) is a series of four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. It is Toyota's longest running series of models. As of 2019, the sales of the Land Cruiser totalled more than 10 million units worldwide.
Production of the first generation of the Land Cruiser began in 1951. The Land Cruiser has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon and cab chassis body styles. The Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity have led to huge popularity, especially in Australia, where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota also extensively tests the Land Cruiser in the Australian outback – considered to be one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain. In Japan, the Land Cruiser was once exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships called Toyota Store.
Since 1990, the smaller variation of the Land Cruiser has been marketed as the Land Cruiser Prado. Described as a 'light-duty' version of the Land Cruiser by Toyota, it features a different design compared to the full-size model and, up until 2023, it remains the only comfort-oriented Land Cruiser available with a short-wheelbase 3-door version.
As of 2023, the full-size Land Cruiser was available in many markets. Exceptions include the United States (since 2021), Canada (since 1996), Malaysia (which receives the Lexus LX instead), Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Brazil, and most of Europe. In Europe, the only countries where the full-size Land Cruiser is officially sold are Gibraltar, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The Land Cruiser is hugely popular in the Middle East, Russia, and Australia, and also in Africa where it is used by farmers, the construction industry, non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, the United Nations, national armies (often the pickup version), and irregular armed groups who turn them into "technicals" by mounting machine guns in the rear. In August 2019, cumulative global sales of the Land Cruiser family surpassed 10 million units.

Common 2005 Toyota Land cruiser problems
The Toyota Land Cruiser 2005 is known for its reliability and durability, but like any other vehicle, it has some common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most frequently reported issues with the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser is the failure of the seal on the transfer case input shaft. This problem can be expensive to fix, as it requires replacing the seal.
Another common problem with the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser is rough idle and poor performance, particularly in models that use AdBlue. This problem is caused by the EGR valve preventing the N0x treatment system from functioning properly. The solution is to replace the faulty EGR valve with a new one.
Shock absorber failure is also a common problem with the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser. This issue can cause problems with the suspension and can be identified by checking for oil, wetness, or grease around the suspension springs and shock absorbers.
Automatic gearbox problems are another issue that has been reported by owners of the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser. If the vehicle is struggling when changing gears, it may be due to a problem with the selectors. A professional should be consulted to diagnose and repair this issue, as it can be quite complex.
Air conditioning problems are also common in the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser, particularly when the air conditioning is not working on all settings. This problem is usually caused by a fractured pipe and can be resolved by fitting a replacement pipe.
The bonnet straps on the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser have also been known to fail, causing the bonnet to not hold its weight when open. This issue can be resolved by replacing the bonnet straps.
Increased stopping distances and a musty smell from the HVAC unit are other problems that have been reported by owners of the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser. These issues can be resolved by replacing the brake vacuum pump blades and rotor and cleaning the evaporator housing drain pipes, respectively.
Overall, while the 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser is known for its reliability and durability, it does have some common problems that owners have reported. These issues can be expensive to fix, but with proper maintenance and care, the vehicle can continue to provide safe and reliable transportation.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my LC. I bought it in the winter of 2005 and it has been the single best vehicle I have ever owned. I have used it for commuting, long road trips, and even camping, and it has exceeded my expectations in every scenario. I also love the interior appointments and the stateliness of the exterior styling. To me, it's everything the Range Rover should be without the constant trips to the shop. In over 5 years of ownership, it has only been in the shop for routine maintenance and to repair body damage caused by my wife's impatience. Thank you for listening to my story!

I'm thrilled to hear that this is your fourth Land Cruiser and that you've had such a positive experience with it! The engineering is truly impressive and the quality is evident in every aspect of the vehicle. The V8 provides great performance and the ride is smooth and comfortable, whether you're driving in town or on the interstate. The Land Cruiser's braking is outstanding and its off-road capabilities are truly amazing. While cornering can be a bit mushy at times, this is to be expected in a vehicle of this size. Overall, the Land Cruiser offers excellent creature comforts and is a great choice for anyone in need of a spacious and reliable vehicle. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

This is my 5th Land Cruiser. I was considering switching to the LX 470, but I realized that my 4 and 7 year old boys could spill milkshakes and ketchup in a Land Cruiser just as easily as in a Lexus! It's a great vehicle. I bought this one sight unseen at the end of the year and didn't get the exact interior package that I wanted, but that's not a big deal.

I absolutely adore Toyota Land Cruisers! When I finally had the opportunity to purchase one, I went for a 5-year-old used model, even though there was a new one on the market. I still feel like I'm driving the most stunning truck on the road. The 2004 Land Cruiser is incredibly comfortable and drives flawlessly. It's a heavy and rock-solid vehicle, but that's what makes it so special. Of course, being a full-time 4x4 with a V8, the gas mileage isn't the best, but that's to be expected. I actually bought this truck for my wife to use when hauling our kid around, but I'm already on the lookout for another one to fill my spot in the garage!

This car is an excellent ride! I have never experienced a better SUV of this size. It is located right next to the Mitsubishi Endeavor. The navigation system is easy to use and works great on the road. The seats are very comfortable, and it is also an excellent 4-wheel drive vehicle in the snow, with no trouble at all. I would choose this car over a Hummer any day, as it is better on gas than most big-sized SUVs. However, the body on the outside could be improved, and the cargo room is quite limited with 3rd-row seating. Additionally, it is a heavy car for being made by Toyota. Overall, I highly recommend this car for anyone looking for a comfortable and reliable SUV!

I'm not quite sure why so many people like Toyotas. Personally, I'm going to get a Tahoe this time. It has a better engine and I'd rather support an American company. I learned my lesson.
