The Model S became the first electric car to top the monthly new-car-sales ranking in any country, leading twice in Norway, in September and December 2013 and in Denmark in December 2015. Sales passed 250,000 units in September 2018. The Model S was the top-selling plug-in electric car worldwide in 2015 and 2016, although it was later surpassed by the Model 3. I recently traded my 2017 Porsche for a Model S P100D and I must say, I have never loved a car more than my P100D. This is my first EV and the driving experience is on another level. It's my favorite car so far and I've owned many fast cars in the past 20 years, including a Porsche 911 Carrera S, 911 Turbo, Cayenne Turbo, Macan Turbo, Acura NSX, 2 BMW M5, BMW 650 Gran Coupe, Callaway Corvette, Audi S8, MB CL600, ML63, E63, CLS 63, and an Acura NSX (most had ECU tunes). A year ago, I never even thought about buying an EV until the day I went to lunch with a client in his Tesla Model S. I was totally speechless and I couldn't stop thinking about that car in the days/weeks ahead. Long story short, I traded my Macan Turbo which I owned for less than a year for a P100D. Tesla's offer for my Macan was pretty low but I was told they would match a Carmax offer. I went to Carmax, they offered me $2,000 more, and Tesla matched their offer. The process was a little time-consuming and annoying to be honest. Some of the things written by other reviewers in regard to Tesla salespeople not returning calls right away, etc. are true. So, was the overall experience a little annoying? Yes. Did I take a big hit on my Macan trade? Yes. But when all is said and done, was it worth it? Absolutely 100% YES and I have no regrets. I've been a car guy my entire life, and I love my Model S more than any other car I've owned. People that know me all agree that I tell it how it is. If I hated the car, I'd have no problem saying it. By the way, I am 100% convinced without a doubt that 1 or 2 of the Model S reviews on here are not real reviews by an actual owner of a Model S. They are probably written by a Tesla hater (or maybe written by a confused Tesla short-seller who has been getting mauled lately).

I drive around 30-40 miles every day, and with the wall charger in my garage, it takes less than an hour and costs only about one dollar to top off the battery. This saves me around $1,500 per year in gasoline compared to my performance sedan, and the best part is that this car performs even better! The low center of gravity provides excellent handling, and the acceleration is simply breathtaking. Plus, there are no oil changes, transmission fluid changes, or radiator coolant changes to worry about, and the regenerative braking means that my brakes last forever while also recharging the batteries. No more cold gas station stops in the winter or furnace-hot garages in the summer! The technology is truly unbelievable, and I can even preheat or precool the interior while plugged in at home from the comfort of my bed. It's a mature design, but it still turns heads, especially when I leave almost every car in the dust at a stoplight. AWD is standard, and I can set the height of the vehicle for driving conditions, or just let the car adapt automatically. The steering sportiness can also be set to my liking.

I'm 54 years old and I have to say, this is the best car I've ever owned! I'm completely spoiled now and can't imagine going back to a regular car. The technology in this car is constantly being updated, just like an iPhone, and it's always exciting to see what new features will be added. The best part? I've had this car for 18 months and it hasn't needed any servicing at all! Plus, not having to stop at gas stations is such a relief. I just charge the car in my garage and it's ready to go in just five or six hours. The stated mileage is spot on too - I get about 300 miles even when driving 10 miles above the speed limit. And if I need to charge up quickly, the super chargers are amazing - they can charge the car from almost empty to 336 miles in just an hour and 20 minutes. The only downside is that it's not the best car for long road trips, as it can be a bit of a hassle to line up super chargers. But for anything under 300 miles, it's perfect!

I've had the pleasure of owning and driving some very sporty cars in my life, from a BMW M3 to a Porsche Cayenne, and even a Porsche 911 Turbo that I traded in for the Tesla S. Let me tell you, the S blows every car I've driven completely off the road! I was beyond excited to trade in my 911 Turbo for the S, and it did not disappoint. Not only is the S incredibly explosive, but it's also incredibly comfortable to drive. It feels more like driving a spaceship than a car, honestly. The comfort and smoothness are unparalleled. The tech of the car is also very impressive. While auto-pilot is cool, the warning system and auto brake system have saved me from a potentially huge accident. I looked away from the road for just a second (my bad, I know), and the system went off, completely stopping the car from 50mph. When I looked up, I was only 8 feet from the other car's rear bumper. If the car hadn't automatically stopped, I would have crushed it. Thank God all was okay. The styling is nice, and although the cabin luxury isn't that of a 911 Turbo, it's nice enough for me. I much prefer performance over an overly polished and styled interior. I love charging at home; it's way more convenient. Although I agree that a cross-country road trip isn't as simple as with a gas car, the Superchargers still only take 20-30 minutes when on the road. Still, I haven't had any issues with range, although I don't frequently need to drive over 300 miles in a day or single trip. All said, I can't recommend this car enough. I will never buy another gas-powered car again. Driving the S makes driving a gas car seem ridiculous!I really don't enjoy driving our other car, the Porsche Cayenne S. It feels like a loud and clumsy tank compared to the Tesla Model S. If you're considering a Tesla or any other car, I highly recommend test driving one as soon as possible. They're truly amazing! In my opinion, it's the best car I've ever driven and I absolutely love it.

We had a Tesla Model S for two years and it only needed service once. Tesla came to our home in a rural area and promptly fixed it under warranty. We loved the car! It was fun to drive and a completely different world of driving from a gas car. Now we have a Tesla Model L and we REALLY love this car. It has blistering acceleration when needed, no gas/oil changes, and absolutely no problems with Tesla service or getting questions answered. The navigation is the best we have ever had - simply tell it where you want to go (take me to the bowling alley - drive me to the nearest Chic-fil-A, take me to Myrtle beach, etc.). On trips, the navigation guides you from one supercharger to another, gives you sufficient charge to get to the next one with reserve and sends you on your way (saving time). All superchargers we have ever visited have worked flawlessly. This car gets the equivalent of over 100 mpg so our fuel bill is roughly 1/4 what it would be in a gas car. The audio is great and on the highway, it really does drive itself. I fully agree with the previous poster - I am completely spoiled - could never go back to an ICE car.

After owning our Alfa Romeo Stelvio for a year, we decided to test drive a Tesla Model S performance vehicle. We were impressed with the Tesla's speed, which was even quicker than our Alfa. However, we did encounter some issues during the test drive. The seat did not raise high enough for my wife, who is only 5 ft tall, to comfortably drive the car. Additionally, the air conditioning did not perform adequately on a hot day. Despite these issues, we found the Tesla to be a quiet ride. While the dashboard may not be the most exciting, we appreciated the wealth of information available on the flat screen display. We did have some trouble finding what we were looking for at first, but we quickly got the hang of it. One issue we did encounter was that the passenger door required a bit of force to close properly. We understand that some people have had issues with Tesla's quality control, but we did not experience any major problems during our test drive. The ride was a bit hard and noisy on rough roads, but we still enjoyed the overall experience. It's worth noting that Tesla offers a 7-day return policy, although refunds may take some time to process. We encourage anyone considering a Tesla to do their research and make an informed decision.

In regards to my recent experience, I returned my car within the 7 day 1000 mile time period due to lower than expected gas mileage on the highway. While there was no documentation provided upon return, I was able to find all the necessary information online. Although I was unable to speak with someone directly, the online resources were very helpful in answering my questions.

I bought the car because it looks great and has some great features, like not needing gas. However, there are a few things that are a bit annoying, like the center armrests squeaking against the seats and the web browser only working 1% of the time. The programmable garage door opener function also seems to forget its programming, which can be frustrating. Last week, my rear D side window fell down after hearing a loud POP sound, which I think might be the regulator. Additionally, the seats can be uncomfortable if you're driving for over an hour, and the Nav. doesn't automatically orient to 'North is up', which seems like it should be a given. It also appears that some of the headlights may be going out. Despite these issues, I still think it has fewer moving parts and less heat issues than a gas vehicle. The trim along the sunroof is falling in, and Tesla wanted $400 to fix it, which I think is a bit steep. Overall, I'm not as big of a fan of Tesla as I used to be and would consider checking out what BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Volvo have to offer. #NoLongeraFan

UPDATE: Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Tesla Model S. While driving on the highway, I heard a loud screeching/grinding noise and pulled over to find a large metal piece hanging from the bottom of my car. After bringing it into the shop, I was informed that Tesla had failed to properly attach the piece of steel to the bottom of the car. Although it was frustrating to deal with, the issue was resolved and I'm happy to report that my car is running smoothly now. Unfortunately, my car arrived with a damaged door, but Tesla was quick to schedule a repair appointment and take care of the issue. This situation is causing me some concern, and I am hesitant to leave any valuables in my car. (5) When I reached out to Tesla representatives regarding these issues, I did not receive a response for several days. I had to follow up multiple times with different representatives before receiving a reply. The response I eventually received was simply to make a service appointment through the App, which I found disappointing. Given the difficulties I have experienced, I had hoped for a more accommodating response from the Tesla team.
