The Model S became the first electric car to top the monthly new-car-sales ranking in any country, leading twice in Norway, in September and December 2013 and in Denmark in December 2015. Sales passed 250,000 units in September 2018. The Model S was the top-selling plug-in electric car worldwide in 2015 and 2016, although it was later surpassed by the Model 3. I've had the pleasure of owning and driving some very sporty cars in my life, from a BMW M3 to a Porsche Cayenne, and even a Porsche 911 Turbo that I traded in for the Tesla S. Let me tell you, the S blows every car I've driven completely off the road! I was beyond excited to trade in my 911 Turbo for the S, and it did not disappoint. Not only is the S incredibly explosive, but it's also incredibly comfortable to drive. It feels more like driving a spaceship than a car, honestly. The comfort and smoothness are unparalleled. The tech of the car is also very impressive. While auto-pilot is cool, the warning system and auto brake system have saved me from a potentially huge accident. I looked away from the road for just a second (my bad, I know), and the system went off, completely stopping the car from 50mph. When I looked up, I was only 8 feet from the other car's rear bumper. If the car hadn't automatically stopped, I would have crushed it. Thank God all was okay. The styling is nice, and although the cabin luxury isn't that of a 911 Turbo, it's nice enough for me. I much prefer performance over an overly polished and styled interior. I love charging at home; it's way more convenient. Although I agree that a cross-country road trip isn't as simple as with a gas car, the Superchargers still only take 20-30 minutes when on the road. Still, I haven't had any issues with range, although I don't frequently need to drive over 300 miles in a day or single trip. All said, I can't recommend this car enough. I will never buy another gas-powered car again. Driving the S makes driving a gas car seem ridiculous!I really don't enjoy driving our other car, the Porsche Cayenne S. It feels like a loud and clumsy tank compared to the Tesla Model S. If you're considering a Tesla or any other car, I highly recommend test driving one as soon as possible. They're truly amazing! In my opinion, it's the best car I've ever driven and I absolutely love it.

We had a Tesla Model S for two years and it only needed service once. Tesla came to our home in a rural area and promptly fixed it under warranty. We loved the car! It was fun to drive and a completely different world of driving from a gas car. Now we have a Tesla Model L and we REALLY love this car. It has blistering acceleration when needed, no gas/oil changes, and absolutely no problems with Tesla service or getting questions answered. The navigation is the best we have ever had - simply tell it where you want to go (take me to the bowling alley - drive me to the nearest Chic-fil-A, take me to Myrtle beach, etc.). On trips, the navigation guides you from one supercharger to another, gives you sufficient charge to get to the next one with reserve and sends you on your way (saving time). All superchargers we have ever visited have worked flawlessly. This car gets the equivalent of over 100 mpg so our fuel bill is roughly 1/4 what it would be in a gas car. The audio is great and on the highway, it really does drive itself. I fully agree with the previous poster - I am completely spoiled - could never go back to an ICE car.

I love cars and spent a long time evaluating between high end cars. So glad I chose the long range model S. The Tesla is so fun to drive, comfortable, spacious, and the infotainment system is intuitive to use. It gets better each month with new features and requires almost no maintenance!

I just want to start by saying that I absolutely love my 2020 Model S Long Range vehicle, which is actually my third Tesla. I traded in my 2016 Model S (built with new facia August 2016) with an odometer reading of approximately 46,000 miles. The car only went to the shop once during the entire time I owned it, and that was to replace the front rotors that became warped (probably from my rapid stopping). I have a 47 AMP 220 V charging station at my home, and I commute every day 80 to 100 miles round-trip. Over a three-year period, my battery only degraded 3%. So when it came time to upgrade to a 2020 model (Built November 2019), I knew exactly what I wanted. My Long Range vehicle achieves 370 miles versus my old Model S 75D, which had an approximately 250-mile range. I purchased a vehicle with white interior and blue exterior, and the wheels were 19-inch carbon color (a must!). I have driven almost 1000 miles on my vehicle thus far, and I must say, it has been an absolute joy. The 2020 model is a vastly different vehicle than the 2016, with improved acceleration, drive, and interior noise. There have been some upgrades to the interior that improve the overall comfort, and the hardware Version 3 is a great addition. The driving and handling is absolutely amazing, and I can compare this to my previous vehicles, which include a Porsche Turbo Carrera (2015), Boxster S (2014), Mercedes CLS, and GLC. The only vehicle that approaches the driving experience and stability with handling is my Porsche Boxster, a mid-engine vehicle. Tesla benefits from an excellent center of gravity due to a monolithic battery pack that is under the vehicle. Additionally, a computer-controlled air suspension system provides handling beyond the reach of any vehicle I have ever driven. Compared to an internal combustion engine, this vehicle is clean, amazingly reliable, and potentially could be the last vehicle many people would want to own. My old Tesla, though I say I traded it in, went to a good friend of mine at the trade-in price.After three years of use, the vehicle had lost approximately 30% of its value. However, this is not uncommon for top-end luxury cars. At almost 50,000 miles, the car was barely broken in. My desire to trade up had more to do with the technology. The auto-pilot on the 2020 model has yet to achieve its full potential, but it is a significant improvement from my 2016 model. I can't imagine driving a vehicle without auto-pilot on my daily hundred-mile round-trip commute. It leaves me feeling refreshed and able to conduct business calls, which is a must for me as a high acuity physician working out of a level one trauma hospital center. Finally, range-anxiety is a syndrome only applicable to people who own electric vehicles. I must say, my 2016 model S with 250-mile range did provoke some low-level anxiety on long trips. However, with the long-range version, this has dissipated completely. I have never had any issues at any supercharging station on long trips. With a vehicle that now achieves close to 400 miles on a single charge, charging at a supercharger station is faster than before. I agree with some of the other comments regarding frustration when purchasing the vehicle and trying to reach customer service at any given Tesla store or repair center. However, I must say that Tesla is the most responsive company when it comes to servicing your vehicle. My Tesla app allows me to make an appointment almost seamlessly. For minor issues, Tesla will send a mobile repair person to your home or work, and they are able to do the majority of the common issues on their mobile unit. No other car manufacturer offers this type of service. I will never purchase another internal combustion engine vehicle and will remain a loyal Tesla customer because they are currently the leader in electric vehicle technology and experience. Seven months into my ownership, I have racked up 8000 miles, and the vehicle has performed flawlessly.I'm glad to hear that you haven't had any mechanical issues with your vehicle! It's great to know that you're enjoying the entertainment center and all the streaming services it provides. The software upgrades have definitely made a positive impact. It's also impressive that the vehicle now recognizes stop signs, stop lights and other signs. The auto pilot feature is also improving and getting closer to autonomous level. It's normal to experience some battery degradation in the first 4-6 months, but it's great to hear that the overall range is still exceptional. It sounds like this new model is a significant technological improvement compared to your 2016 model S!

I've owned my Tesla Model S LR for 3 years now and I'm happy to say that I haven't had any issues with it. I replaced the HEPA filter ($250) after 3 years and the front tires after 30,000 miles (I advise rotating them every 10,000 miles). I can confidently say that this is the best car I've ever owned. I've had 4 BMW5s and a Genesis sedan, all of which were excellent, but none of them compare to the Tesla. The ride is smooth, the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is amazing, the acceleration (0-60 in 4 seconds) is impressive, and the technology is top-notch. I also appreciate the monthly upgrades at no extra cost and the extremely low operating cost (1/5 the price of gasoline). I no longer have to waste time at gas stations or worry about oil changes and other maintenance. Plus, I'm proud to be driving a sustainable vehicle and doing my part to preserve our planet. It's truly a dream car!

Although Tesla's customer support is currently limited to online resources, they offer a wealth of information to help you with any questions you may have about scheduling service or ordering parts. In regards to my recent experience, I returned my car within the 7 day 1000 mile time period due to lower than expected gas mileage on the highway. While there was no documentation provided upon return, I was able to find all the necessary information online. Although I was unable to speak with someone directly, the online resources were very helpful in answering my questions.

I bought the car because it looks great and has some great features, like not needing gas. However, there are a few things that are a bit annoying, like the center armrests squeaking against the seats and the web browser only working 1% of the time. The programmable garage door opener function also seems to forget its programming, which can be frustrating. Last week, my rear D side window fell down after hearing a loud POP sound, which I think might be the regulator. Additionally, the seats can be uncomfortable if you're driving for over an hour, and the Nav. doesn't automatically orient to 'North is up', which seems like it should be a given. It also appears that some of the headlights may be going out. Despite these issues, I still think it has fewer moving parts and less heat issues than a gas vehicle. The trim along the sunroof is falling in, and Tesla wanted $400 to fix it, which I think is a bit steep. Overall, I'm not as big of a fan of Tesla as I used to be and would consider checking out what BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Volvo have to offer. #NoLongeraFan

UPDATE: Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Tesla Model S. While driving on the highway, I heard a loud screeching/grinding noise and pulled over to find a large metal piece hanging from the bottom of my car. I had to provide multiple appraisals for my trade-in, which was time-consuming, but ultimately worth it. While I had some questions about Autopilot, the documentation provided was helpful and I'm satisfied with the features I received. Unfortunately, my car arrived with a damaged door, but Tesla was quick to schedule a repair appointment and take care of the issue. This situation is causing me some concern, and I am hesitant to leave any valuables in my car. (5) When I reached out to Tesla representatives regarding these issues, I did not receive a response for several days. I had to follow up multiple times with different representatives before receiving a reply. The response I eventually received was simply to make a service appointment through the App, which I found disappointing. Given the difficulties I have experienced, I had hoped for a more accommodating response from the Tesla team.

The car has some quality issues that can be compared to YUGO. The experience can feel like a lottery, where you may get a car with minor issues and enjoy the acceleration until the battery overheats. However, getting service for it can be challenging. If you are looking for go-cart performance with kit car quality, TESLA is the right car. But if you prioritize quality and reliability, a Tesla may not be the best option.

The advertised mileage is not accurate. The Autopilot system experiences frequent malfunctions. The navigation system lacks intelligence and versatility in searching, often providing less desirable routes. The side mirrors obstruct the driver's front view, and the seats are awkward and uncomfortable for necks.
