The Daewoo Lacetti is a compact car manufactured and marketed globally by GM Korea since 2002. The first-generation Lacetti was available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, styled by Pininfarina—and five-door hatchback styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The sedan and wagon were marketed as the Daewoo Nubira in some European markets and as the Suzuki Forenza in North America. The hatchback, was introduced in 2004 and marketed as Daewoo Lacetti5 in South Korea, Suzuki Reno in the United States. After the 2004 model year, it was marketed as Chevrolet Nubira and Lacetti in Europe, as the Chevrolet Optra in Canada, Latin America, Africa, Middle East, India, Japan and Southeast Asia, and as the Holden Viva in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2008, the second-generation Lacetti was launched as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere, a badge-engineered version of the Chevrolet Cruze, co-developed by GM Daewoo, Holden, and General Motors. It was marketed under the Daewoo marque until the beginning of 2011, when the brand was discontinued, and was thereafter marketed under the Chevrolet and Holden brands.

The name Lacetti derives from the Latin "Lacertus", meaning "youthful".

  1. Favian Schoen 2025-03-27

    Vehicle year: 2008

I love my little baby car! She always gets me where I need to go. Living in Alaska, that's really saying something. I've never had any problems with her starting up in the freezing cold or getting stuck.

  2. Melany Klein 2025-03-26

    Vehicle year: 2005

I would not recommend this car to anyone. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of issues with it since purchasing it at 73,000 miles. Within 4 days of buying it from the dealership, the master cylinder went out and I had to replace the clutch as well. I paid $5,000 for the car, but have already spent $3,200 on repairs in the 2 years that I have owned it. I have had to replace the timing belt and water pump twice, the valve cover gasket twice, air intake, throttle body, catalytic converter, timing belt tensioner and pulleys. Recently, the car has been trying to shut off while I am driving, which will cost me even more money. Additionally, the car is mechanically built wrong, which has caused me to go through 2 sets of tires and voided out my tire warranty due to how uneven the car was built. It also struggles in the snow even with studs put on. The only positive thing I can say about this car is that the speakers are good. Unfortunately, the car is now worth only $1,700 according to KBB, so I cannot even try to sell it for what I paid for it or what I have put into it. It seems like a lemon car made of three cars, Suzuki, Daweo and Chevy, and the bolts are most likely Chevy parts. I would advise anyone to stay away from this car, as it will only drain your pockets and waste your time and money.

  3. Aurelio Volkman 2025-03-25

    Vehicle year: 2006

Hey there! So, I took my car to a mechanic who told me that there had been quite a few warranty claims regarding the transmission. He suggested that I change the transmission in 2015, but I was a bit skeptical since the car was a 2006 and had only 6200 miles on it. However, it turns out that he was right - at 7200 miles, the car started having trouble shifting in the lower gears and I had to manually move the automatic shifter into 3rd. Lesson learned!

  4. Noah Runolfsson 2025-03-15

    Vehicle year: 2007

I purchased my 07 Suzuki Forenza back in June of 2010. Initially, it ran smoothly, but once it hit the 60k mark, I began experiencing a series of issues. The door handles broke, followed by the tire pressure light, and then the passenger airbag light. I had to get my gear shift fixed, and then the timing belt broke off, which led to me needing a new engine. I also had to replace the shocks and struts, and then there was an issue with my tires wearing down. Currently, my transmission is having some trouble. Looking back, I wish I had known more about this car before making the purchase.

  5. Roel Powlowski 2025-03-15

    Vehicle year: 2007

I purchased my 2007 Suzuki Forezna used in 2011 with 66k miles for around $6,000. Unfortunately, I have had to spend a lot of money on repairs over the years. Despite my efforts, the car has been breaking down frequently and has required expensive repairs every few months. In the last 6 months alone, I have spent over $1500 on various repairs, including the serpentine belt, spark plugs, engine valve cover, alternator, and radiator. Unfortunately, the car is now non-driveable due to a blown head gasket and a bad catalytic converter. Even though the car has only 109,000 miles, it's time to say goodbye. The car's fuel economy and driving performance have been poor, and the heating and cooling system stopped working properly years ago. Despite these issues, I have only been driving the car 5 miles to work each day at the speed limit. It's unfortunate that the car has such a low resale value, even if it were in perfect condition (blue book value of less than $1,500).

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with this car. We were initially drawn to it because of its sleek appearance and impressive warranty, and after taking it for a test drive, we were sold on how smoothly it drove. I'm happy to report that after 43,000 miles, it has proven to be incredibly reliable and we haven't had any issues with it. In fact, we're so pleased with it that we've decided to pass it on to our daughter for her upcoming school year, and we're already considering purchasing another one for my wife. Thanks for taking the time to read about our positive experience!

  2. Clifford Harris 2025-03-20

    Vehicle year: 2006

Congratulations on your new car! We're so glad you found the Verona to be an attractive vehicle that meets your needs. It may not have a lot of horsepower, but it's great on gas and has a nice body style. The premium package includes some great features like a power sunroof, alloy wheels, fog lights, and remote keyless entry, as well as a spacious trunk for storage. This car is perfect for those looking for an economical option, especially first-time buyers who may be on a budget. The 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty are fantastic, giving you peace of mind for years to come. And don't forget, the dealership offers free tires for life! Enjoy your new car and all the adventures it will bring.

Hey there! If you're finding any issues with your Suzuki, don't worry, it's all good! Maybe next time you can negotiate a better deal or remember the great deal you got on it. Suzukis are generally decent cars, and while they may not be at the same level as Toyota or Honda, they're definitely on par with American 'small' cars, if not better. Personally, I was in the market for a Corolla, but the price was too high for me. However, I managed to get a fully loaded 5-speed Suzuki at least 20% cheaper, so I'm happy with the compromises. Once you get out of 2nd gear, the performance is great, but the 'get up and go' from a dead stop and the 1st to 2nd gear shift could be a bit slow. The gas mileage is a bit low, ranging from 22-26mpg, but it's still a great car overall!

Great car! It's perfect if you plan on keeping it for a long time due to its low resale value. I personally have 185,000 miles on mine and it still runs great. Although it's a 2006 model, it only has a little bit of rust by the gas cap. I once hit a large deer and it only caused damage to the hood and grill.
