2004 Suzuki Forenza problems
The Daewoo Lacetti is a compact car manufactured and marketed globally by GM Korea since 2002. The first-generation Lacetti was available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, styled by Pininfarina—and five-door hatchback styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The sedan and wagon were marketed as the Daewoo Nubira in some European markets and as the Suzuki Forenza in North America. The hatchback, was introduced in 2004 and marketed as Daewoo Lacetti5 in South Korea, Suzuki Reno in the United States. After the 2004 model year, it was marketed as Chevrolet Nubira and Lacetti in Europe, as the Chevrolet Optra in Canada, Latin America, Africa, Middle East, India, Japan and Southeast Asia, and as the Holden Viva in Australia and New Zealand.
In 2008, the second-generation Lacetti was launched as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere, a badge-engineered version of the Chevrolet Cruze, co-developed by GM Daewoo, Holden, and General Motors. It was marketed under the Daewoo marque until the beginning of 2011, when the brand was discontinued, and was thereafter marketed under the Chevrolet and Holden brands.
The name Lacetti derives from the Latin "Lacertus", meaning "youthful".

Common 2004 Suzuki Forenza problems
The 2004 Suzuki Forenza has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues span across various components of the car, including the engine, transmission, interior, fuel system, and airbags & seat belts.
- Transmission Problems: The transmission of the 2004 Suzuki Forenza has also been a source of concern for many owners. The most common transmission issue is the transmission jumping out of gear, which has been reported in 81% of the cases.
- Interior Issues: Some owners have reported issues with the interior of the 2004 Suzuki Forenza. These problems include the Check Engine light coming on randomly, making it impossible to pass smog checks without costly repairs.
- Fuel System Problems: A small percentage of owners have reported issues with the fuel system of the 2004 Suzuki Forenza. These problems include the Check Engine light coming on, which can be caused by various issues within the fuel system.
- Airbags & Seat Belts: Some owners have reported issues with the airbags and seat belts of the 2004 Suzuki Forenza. These problems can be serious and can affect the safety of the vehicle.
It is important to note that these issues are based on complaints from owners of the 2004 Suzuki Forenza and may not reflect the overall reliability of the vehicle. Potential buyers should conduct thorough research and consider all available information before making a purchase decision.
Is Suzuki Forenza a good car?
The Forenza's many features might appear tempting, but its performance does not compete well with the class leaders. The 126-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers fairly slow acceleration and only so-so fuel economy. The Forenza corners reluctantly and does not inspire confidence when pushed to its limits.
How long do Suzuki Forenza last?
A Suzuki Forenza with 116,000 miles should go another 100,000 miles plus if the maintenance schedule is followed in the owners manual.
How many miles can a Suzuki last?
From my experience either of these should easily be able to reach 200k miles with little maintenance beyond normal maintenance. There is only one number to consider. Cost per mile. The Suzuki will probably provide the lowest cost all things considered.
What is the gas mileage on a 2004 Suzuki Forenza?
Averaged 32 miles per gallon. It's comfortable, practical, and reliable.

2004 Suzuki Forenza recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2004 Suzuki Forenza.
- Manufacturer: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
- Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Forenza vehicles, and 2005-2008 Reno vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2003, through July 30, 2008. In the affected vehicles, heat may be generated in the headlamp switch or daytime running light (DRL) module which could melt the headlamp switch or the DRL module.
- Consequence: If the heat generated within the headlamp switch or DRL module located on the left side of the steering column melts the headlamp switch or DRL module, there is an increased risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Suzuki will replace the signal switch and add a jumper relay kit and will replace the DRL Module in teh instrument panel harness. Suzuki distributed to owners an interim letter on July 30, 2014. The recall began October 29, 2014. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's number for this recall is XA.
- Manufacturer: AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP.
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH
- Summary: Suzuki is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 Forenza and model year 2005-2006 Reno vehicles manufactured from September 23, 2003, through March 7, 2006. Increased resistance due to poor contact between the terminals of certain wires can generate heat that can melt the splice pack used to connect the power circuit wires for the headlamps. This can result in intermittent or total loss of low/high beam headlamp function.
- Consequence: If the headlamps fail to function, this will lead to reduced driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and Suzuki dealers will reconnect the affected wires with two heat-shrink crimps, free of charge. The safety recall began on September 25, 2012. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-877-697-8985.
- Manufacturer: AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP.
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, HEADLAMP LOW BEAM OR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL) FUNCTION MAY BE INOPERATIVE DUE TO A MELTED SPLICE PACK ON THE WIRING HARNESS.
- Consequence: INAPPROPRIATE LIGHTING COULD REDUCE VISIBILITY OF VEHICLES AND INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL SPLICE THE POWER CIRCUIT WIRES FOR THE LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS AND DRL FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL WILL BE MAILED IN THREE PHASES, STARTING AT THE END OF OCTOBER 2007 AND CONCLUDING BY THE END OF JANUARY 2008;. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-800-934-0934.
- Manufacturer: AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP.
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH MAY BECOME MISADJUSTED IF AN UPWARD/REARWARD FORCE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF THIS SHOULD OCCUR, THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHTS, INCLUDING THE HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP, TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY WITHOUT BRAKE PEDAL APPLICATION, WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ON OR OFF POSITION.
- Consequence: IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON CONTINUOUSLY WHILE DRIVING,A FOLLOWING DRIVER MAY NOT KNOW WHEN YOUR BRAKES HAVE BEEN APPLIED, AND A REAR-END CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THIS CONDITION MAY ALSO DISCHARGE THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY, AND, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH, CRUISE CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, IF EQUIPPED, WILL BECOME DISABLED.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 16, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-800-934-0934.
- Manufacturer: AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER CARS, THE DUAL STAGE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYS IN AN IMPROPER SEQUENCE.
- Consequence: IF THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYS IMPROPERLY DURING A FRONTAL VEHICLE CRASH, THE DRIVER COULD BE SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN ADAPTING WIRING HARNESS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON OCTOBER 30, 2003, TO VERONA VEHICLE OWNERS. ALL FORENZA VEHICLES WERE REPAIRED AT THE PORT OF ENTRY. THERE ARE NO OWNER NOTIFICATIONS NECESSARY FOR THE FORENZA MODEL VEHICLES. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-800-934-0934.

Positive 2004 Suzuki Forenza car reviews

I bought my Forenza new and have had little problems with it. I replaced the headlights within two years and just recently one taillight. Although I loved my car, I unfortunately totalled it this past weekend in an accident that demolished the whole front end of the car. However, the good news is that the whole passenger compartment was fine. The officer was amazed that the four of us walked away. I've always heard good things about Suzuki's safety and now I can confidently say that they are true.
-
Hi there! When I was looking for a car, I decided to give the Forenza a try. I found that it had a great stereo and was the most comfortable out of all the cars I test drove. Since this is my work vehicle, comfort is really important to me. I've put over 106K miles on it and the only thing I've had to replace is the brake switch. It only cost me $15.00 and I was able to replace it myself in the dealership's parking lot. While it may not be a luxury car, it has definitely met my needs and I'm confident it will run for another 100K miles!
-
You're getting a lot of car for a very reasonable price! Plus, it's packed with features that are optional on other cars. The ride and handling are great, and there's plenty of power for you.
-
I've been searching for a new vehicle for a while now and I must say, this one is an excellent choice! It's fantastic on fuel mileage, super comfortable to ride in, and has a really classy look to it.
-
From the styling to interior comfort, it's been a real joy to own. It's hard to find more for the price paid, and I'm very happy driving it!

I purchased the car for its price and gas mileage. At 12K, including tax, title, and interest on the loan, it was a great value for the money. Although the gas pedal is a little sticky, it's not too bad. Unfortunately, I did get hit by someone going about 10 mph, which ripped the bumper off, but overall I'm still happy with my purchase. The gas mileage could be better with the rubber band they put in for an engine, as I only get 25 around town and 30.5 on the open road, which is not good enough for me.
