2010 Porsche Cayenne problems
The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by the German company Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle. The first generation was known internally within Porsche as the Type 9PA (955/957) or E1. It was the first V8-engined vehicle built by Porsche since 1995, when the Porsche 928 was discontinued. It is also Porsche's first off-road variant vehicle since its Super and Junior tractors of the 1950s, and the first Porsche with four doors. Since 2014, the Cayenne has been sold alongside a smaller Porsche SUV, the Macan.
The second-generation Cayenne (Type 92A or E2) was unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March. The Cayenne shares its platform, body frame, doors and electronics with the similar Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7. It received a facelift in 2014 with minor external changes, and introduced a new plug-in E-Hybrid version, with its public launch at the Paris Motor Show. Since 2008, all engines have featured direct injection technology. The third generation (Type PO536) was unveiled in 2017 at Stuttgart.
First generation (E1 9PA; 2002)
The original Porsche Cayenne entered into the global market to a mixed reception, but it proved itself to have excellent performance for an SUV and had comparably good handling as well as powerful engines. The lineup initially consisted of the V8-powered Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo. Later in the model cycle, VR6 and diesel-powered versions joined the lineup. In the eight model years of the E1 generation, a total of 276,652 units were produced.
The base model Cayenne is powered by a 3.2-L VR6 engine producing 250 PS (184 kW; 247 hp). The intake manifold is unique to Porsche, but otherwise the engine is largely the same as the VW engine. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) is 9.1 seconds with the manual transmission and 9.7 seconds with the Tiptronic S.

We have previously owned Lexus LX470 and GX470 SUVs. After considering the new GX460 and the BMW X-6, we fell in love with the Cayenne during a test drive and decided to go with it. In my opinion, the power is much superior to the Lexus and similar to the V-8 BMW. Although I would love to have the turbo edition, it's hard to justify the price. We really appreciate the ability to switch between the sport and comfort settings. Surprisingly, the Cayenne GTS rides very smoothly in comfort mode, much smoother than we anticipated. The navigation system with voice control is a significant improvement over my LX470 or our 2008 CLK 550 Mercedes. The iPod interface is also fantastic in its controlability. It's a great car!

Spent about 2 weeks looking for the right car. Knew it when I found the GTS. Trading out of a Land Rover Sport, but that's another story... Porsche has done a great job both inside and out. The power out of the V-8 is great, and the fit and finish are also very nice.

You've had quite the collection of cars! From Mercedes to BMW to Lexus and more. But it's clear that your 2008 Porsche holds a special place in your heart. While repairs can be costly, they are few and far between. It's understandable that you regret selling your Porsche Cayman, but it's great to hear that you plan on driving your Cayenne for a few more years.

Worth every penny! I initially purchased the base Cayenne with a 6 cylinder engine. However, after driving the GTS, I was hooked. There is simply no comparison. I absolutely love this car! I have owned a range rover, BMW, and Lexus, but this car blows them all away, hands down.

I'm glad to hear that you've had a positive experience with this car! It's great to know that it has the best handling out of all the SUVs you've driven. While it may not be the most spacious option for families, it's still impressive that it can comfortably fit a family of five. I understand that you would prefer more power and better mileage from the V6 engine. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this car!

Overall performance is good. However, there have been some issues with oil burning and various components breaking within the warranty period. Despite these challenges, the car remains powerful, responsive, and fun to drive. It is worth noting that I have owned BMW X5 and some Japanese cars, but this car has had more issues than any of them.

The 2008 model of the car has a puttering sound coming from the rear passenger side, which is a normal occurrence. However, this is not the case with previous models and is caused by the fuel pump. The back of the car had two areas of horrible paint runs, which were wet sanded off. Additionally, the entire roof was wet sanded due to flaws left in the clear coat by the protective wrap. There is a great deal of road noise and in-cabin noise caused by creaking back seats and various rattles. Excessive air noise is also coming in from the front passenger window, which can be stopped by pressing against the lower inside window. The dealer has confirmed that these issues are normal. Rest assured, we have taken care of all the necessary repairs and maintenance to ensure that the car is in top condition.
