Plymouth Voyager is a nameplate for a range of vans that were marketed by the Plymouth division of Chrysler. From 1974 until 1983, the Voyager was a full-size van, sold as the counterpart of Dodge Sportsman (later the Dodge Ram Wagon). Starting with the 1984 model year, the Voyager was marketed as one of the new Chrysler minivan, along with the Dodge Caravan. As a minivan, there were three generations of the Voyager from 1984 until 2000. Following the closure of the Plymouth division in 2000, the Voyager was marketed under the Chrysler brand as a lower-trim version of the Chrysler Town & Country through 2003.
From 1988 through 2016, Chrysler used the Chrysler Voyager name for export-market minivans; during the existence of the Plymouth brand, export-market Voyagers were produced with the body and trim of the Dodge Caravan. Including the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan with their rebadged Chrysler, Lancia, and Volkswagen variants, the Chrysler minivans collectively rank as the 13th best-selling automotive model line worldwide.
The Plymouth Voyager minivan was assembled by Chrysler at its Windsor Assembly facility in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; from 1987 to 2000, the Voyager was also assembled at Saint Louis Assembly in Fenton, Missouri (North plant from 1987 through 1995; South plant from 1996 until 2000).
The full-size Plymouth Voyager van was assembled from 1974 until 1983 at the Pillette Road Truck Assembly in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and at the St. Louis North Assembly Plant in Fenton, Missouri.

- Summary: THIS LETTER IS REGARDING A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE 2000 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER AND 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS. *BF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLES IN WET WEATHER. WHEN IT RAINS AND THE DRIVER GOES THROUGH WATER, THE VEHICLES SHUT THEMSELVES DOWN COMPLETELY. LIGHTS TURN OFF, POWER STEERING IS ARRESTED, AND THE DRIVER HAS TO COAST TO A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES TO MY PARENTS, AND MORE THAN ONCE, THEY HAVE HAD TO SECURE THE SERVICES OF A TOWING COMPANY TO GET THE VEHICLE(S) HOME OR TO A REPAIR SHOP. SO I TURNED THE VAN OFF AND I CALLED A FRIEND WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HE ASKED ME IF THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON EVEN AFTER I TURNED THE VAN ON AND OFF I SAID YES THEN I EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO HIM. HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO TRY MY CRUISE CONTROL. AND IF IT DID NOT WORK THEN MY CLOCKSPRING IS GONE. WELL CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK. AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL ON.

IF THE INCORRECT NUT WAS TO BECOME LOOSE, THE JOINING MEMBERS MAY LOOSEN LEADING TO A SEPARATION OF THE BALL JOINT. THIS MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
- Remedy: FEDERAL MOGUL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE PARTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 22, 2008. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FEDERAL MOGUL AT 877-489-6659.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my van. I bought it new and, like any vehicle, it had some issues. However, most of them happened within the 70K mile warranty period, which was a relief. The transmission failed at 45K, but it was rebuilt and has been great ever since. Since the warranty ran out, the van has been fantastic! It's a pleasure to drive, especially on trips and vacations. It's very nice on the highway and gets better mileage as it gets older. The performance is excellent, even with only 162 hp. It has lots of low-end power, which is great. I now have 134K miles on it and the engine still purrs like a kitten. The 3.3-liter engine is a sound engine. The only thing I wish I had done differently is getting the captain's chairs. The center bench is not very comfortable and does not have headrests. Overall, I have been very pleased with this vehicle. Thank you for taking the time to read my experience!

The car could have better mileage, but overall it's not bad. I really enjoy the super comfortable ride. One of my favorite features is the front and rear heat and AC. Additionally, the car is very roomy and has lots of cargo space.

This vehicle has been an absolute gem for our family. It has served us well through our child-rearing days, effortlessly transporting our two children and their friends to school events and camping trips. The hauling capacity is impressive, and it can even tow a 12x12 pop-up camper with ease. Even after 11 years, the ride is still incredibly smooth and comfortable. The heating and air conditioning systems work perfectly, keeping both the front and back passengers cozy. We always felt safe and secure while driving, knowing that accidents can happen at any time. The stylish design of this family minivan is still fashionable, and it's going to be hard to let it go. Kudos to the team for crafting such a fantastic family vehicle. Thank you so much!

This is actually my second AWD Plymouth Minivan, the previous one being a 1991 model. It's unfortunate that Chrysler no longer offers AWD on their 2005 models. These vehicles are truly exceptional when it comes to all-weather driving and are much more practical than any SUV out there. I'm surprised that the automotive press didn't give these capable vehicles more recognition. Apart from the typical belts and hoses, I've had 50,000 miles of trouble-free use and have now clocked 158,000 miles on it. It would still make for a great winter car, but I'm replacing it with a '97 Town & Country LXI AWD with fewer miles. The only major design flaw I've encountered is the rear heater tubes that tend to rust out, which I've had to replace twice.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with this vehicle as a daily driver. I've been driving it for 50kmi/1 yr 4 mo. and the engine has been very reliable and strong. However, I did experience some issues with the front end components failing at 140kmi, which has been quite expensive at about $300/month for the past 6 months. Additionally, I wanted to give you a heads up that even with a transmission cooler and regular services, my transmission unexpectedly failed at 157kmi. Just wanted to share my experience with you!

I purchased this vehicle in April 2000 and unfortunately, it has required over $5000 in repairs including the A/C system (twice), starter, ignition, water pump, central processor, and all belts. During the first 6 months of ownership, it was in the shop for over 60 days and even left me stranded on a highway. While I have had some challenges with this vehicle, I am excited to be moving on to a new Honda Odyssey in just 2 weeks. Thank you for your understanding.

It gets better MPG, has more cargo space, can hold more people, and provides a better ride. The major problems you may encounter with your Plymouth Grand Voyager in three years of ownership are: 1) a short out of the entire instrument cluster, 2) a bad head gasket on the 3.3L V6, and 3) an annoying rattle from the luggage rack on windy days. However, you can rest assured that the Grand Voyager is comfortable, responsive, easy to drive and pretty reliable overall.
