Plymouth Voyager is a nameplate for a range of vans that were marketed by the Plymouth division of Chrysler. From 1974 until 1983, the Voyager was a full-size van, sold as the counterpart of Dodge Sportsman (later the Dodge Ram Wagon). Starting with the 1984 model year, the Voyager was marketed as one of the new Chrysler minivan, along with the Dodge Caravan. As a minivan, there were three generations of the Voyager from 1984 until 2000. Following the closure of the Plymouth division in 2000, the Voyager was marketed under the Chrysler brand as a lower-trim version of the Chrysler Town & Country through 2003.
From 1988 through 2016, Chrysler used the Chrysler Voyager name for export-market minivans; during the existence of the Plymouth brand, export-market Voyagers were produced with the body and trim of the Dodge Caravan. Including the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan with their rebadged Chrysler, Lancia, and Volkswagen variants, the Chrysler minivans collectively rank as the 13th best-selling automotive model line worldwide.
The Plymouth Voyager minivan was assembled by Chrysler at its Windsor Assembly facility in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; from 1987 to 2000, the Voyager was also assembled at Saint Louis Assembly in Fenton, Missouri (North plant from 1987 through 1995; South plant from 1996 until 2000).
The full-size Plymouth Voyager van was assembled from 1974 until 1983 at the Pillette Road Truck Assembly in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and at the St. Louis North Assembly Plant in Fenton, Missouri.

- Summary: THIS LETTER IS REGARDING A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE 2000 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER AND 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS. *BF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLES IN WET WEATHER. WHEN IT RAINS AND THE DRIVER GOES THROUGH WATER, THE VEHICLES SHUT THEMSELVES DOWN COMPLETELY. LIGHTS TURN OFF, POWER STEERING IS ARRESTED, AND THE DRIVER HAS TO COAST TO A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES TO MY PARENTS, AND MORE THAN ONCE, THEY HAVE HAD TO SECURE THE SERVICES OF A TOWING COMPANY TO GET THE VEHICLE(S) HOME OR TO A REPAIR SHOP. SO I TURNED THE VAN OFF AND I CALLED A FRIEND WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HE ASKED ME IF THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON EVEN AFTER I TURNED THE VAN ON AND OFF I SAID YES THEN I EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO HIM. HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO TRY MY CRUISE CONTROL. AND IF IT DID NOT WORK THEN MY CLOCKSPRING IS GONE. WELL CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK. AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL ON.

IF THE INCORRECT NUT WAS TO BECOME LOOSE, THE JOINING MEMBERS MAY LOOSEN LEADING TO A SEPARATION OF THE BALL JOINT. THIS MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
- Remedy: FEDERAL MOGUL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE PARTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 22, 2008. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FEDERAL MOGUL AT 877-489-6659.

You've been driving for 44 years and owned maybe a dozen cars. This one, however, is by far the best of all. With 210,000 miles on the van in 10 years, it's been tuned up only twice, the last time being 3 years ago. Just last week, it passed DEQ/EPA emissions testing with flying colors. Not one major component has ever failed up to this point, although it appears the starter may need to be replaced soon. You've driven 4,000 mile trips and enjoyed every minute of driving. On one trip in 2008, you drove 1070 miles in 17 hours in a single day, and a week later made the return trip in a single day. At no time were you uncomfortable or fatigued. Maybe you own the exception rather than the rule, but it's clear that you love it.

This van has 179K miles on it and is still going. We've done expected repairs and replacements on it, nothing too extensive. It's way more comfortable than new minivans we've rented for a couple of trips. Although the heater takes a while to warm up, it's still a reliable ride. The A/C only blows from the dash, so the back of the car can get pretty warm in summer. We plan to keep driving this van until it finally gives up.

Our '96 Grand Voyager has had little problems. I'm glad to hear that you picked up an extended service contract from Chrysler when you bought it used. The only thing you had major work done on was the A/C, which is great. It sounds like it runs clean and smooth and has good mileage. Your 1995 Plymouth Voyager sounds like a fantastic vehicle! With 130,000 miles, it has proven to be exceptionally reliable, running smoothly with no engine or mechanical problems. It's great to hear that it has been able to handle everything you've needed it to, from carrying soccer teams to moving your mother's antiques. And after 10 hours behind the wheel, it's wonderful that you find it so comfortable to drive. I bought this van from a family member and had it shipped across the country by rail. It has had a rebuilt transmission, and I recently replaced it, making it the third transmission including the original. The van rides, drives, and looks like new, except for the peeling paint on the roof. All accessories work great, and it has never needed any major repairs, except for the transmissions. However, it will soon need new suspension to replace the original, new brakes that are three years old, and a new computer to address shifting issues with the new rebuilt transmission.

The van has been overall good. Unfortunately, two years ago, the AC compressor blew up. It wouldn't have been too expensive to fix, except that Chrysler was too cheap to install an in-line screen on the AC lines, which caused metal to explode into the AC lines. My mechanic tried in vain to flush it, but ended up replacing the compressor and other parts. He probably spent two weeks on and off trying to fix it, and the labor was probably worth two grand, but he only charged me 2k for all parts and labor. Additionally, the front headlights are not great, as the plastic covers have discolored over time, but these lights never illuminated greatly. Other than that, the van has run for 10.5 years without too many problems. Would I buy it again? Yes, definitely!

I really appreciate the spaciousness of the van. As a parent with a large family, it's important to have enough room for everyone and their belongings. It's been a fantastic vehicle for hauling larger items as well. I've actually owned three Grand Voyagers and have found them to be a great fit for my needs. While I have had to replace the transmission and serpentine belt a few times, I was able to solve the issue by replacing the pulley. Recently, we had an issue with the interior lights and cruise control after replacing the battery, and unfortunately, the lights and horn stopped working. As with any used car, there are bound to be some issues, but we've been able to make it work. In fact, we even removed the rear seats and turned it into a comfortable bed for a road trip from Idaho to Arizona, which was a great experience.

I was considering purchasing an SUV, but after comparing it to my Voyager, I realized that the van actually has more benefits. It gets better MPG, has more cargo space, can hold more people, and provides a better ride. Despite not having the same cool factor as an SUV, I ultimately decided to keep my Voyager because it offers more practicality and functionality.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager that I purchased back in 1999. At the time of purchase, it had 57,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I did experience some transmission problems within the first few weeks of owning it, which required a new transmission. Since then, I have taken good care of the vehicle, but it seems that it needs another transmission at 162,000 miles. I have also had to have the A/C fixed a few times, but unfortunately, it has quit again. Additionally, the body integrity has not been great. Despite these issues, I have enjoyed owning this vehicle and have had no problems with any other vehicles I have owned. However, I have decided not to purchase another Chrysler product. You must have gotten one of the good ones! It's great to hear that you've had very little trouble with this van, even with 206,000 miles on it. The worst issues you've had were an air conditioner condenser leaking and an idler pully bearing, but other than that just routine maintenance like tires and brakes. It's impressive how much you can fit inside, and the driver side sliding door is a real plus. Plus, it's comfortable to drive and gets decent gas mileage for a van this size.
