2023 Nissan Rogue problems
The Nissan Rogue is a compact crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan. It made its debut in October 2007 for the 2008 model year. Beginning in 2013 for the 2014 model year, the model has been merged with the X-Trail sold outside the North American market, making them identical. It is currently Nissan's best-selling vehicle in the United States.
As of 2023, the Rogue was manufactured at the Nissan Smyrna Assembly Plant in Tennessee, United States and at the Nissan Motor Kyushu plant in Kanda, Fukuoka, Japan. Between August 2014 and March 2020, it was also built at the Renault Samsung Motors plant in Busan, South Korea under contract.
First generation (S35; 2007)
The first-generation Rogue made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on 7 January 2007. It replaces the Nissan X-Trail in Canada as Nissan's entry-level SUV and the body-on-frame Nissan Xterra in Mexico due to the Smyrna plant freeing capacity for the Suzuki Equator, although the Xterra continued on sale in the United States and Canada through 2015 after being withdrawn from the Mexican market after the 2008 model year.
The first-generation Rogue was available in three trim levels in the United States: S, SV and SL, available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Common 2023 Nissan Rogue problems
The 2023 Nissan Rogue has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues include engine failures, brake malfunctions, and airbag problems, which pose serious safety risks and leave owners feeling frustrated and helpless.
One of the most common problems reported is sudden engine failures, often accompanied by complete loss of power while driving. This terrifying experience puts not only the driver but also other road users at risk, especially on highways.
Another concern is faulty communication between the engine and pedal, leading to acceleration failures. This issue leaves drivers vulnerable and without control in crucial situations, increasing the risk of accidents.
Shift lever malfunctions have also been reported, causing uncertainty and the potential for unintended gear changes. This can compromise driving stability and increase the risk of accidents.
Complete brake failure has been documented by owners, leading to collisions and injuries. This is a serious safety hazard that should never be ignored.
Airbag non-deployment is another issue that has left occupants exposed to potential harm during significant impacts. This is simply unacceptable and poses a significant safety risk.
These problems are in addition to gas smell and air conditioning issues that have been previously discussed.

- Summary: My back window exploded. I was just driving and the whole thing shattered. Thought I was shot with a gun but after the cops came they checked my car and found out this exploding window is common with the newer Nissan Rogues. I have the incident on dash cam too. I now have to pay $500 for my deductible to fix the window since Nissan won’t take responsibility. My car is being repaired tomorrow. I do have a police report number but I can’t move onto the next page without the report so I’m stating “no” but the answer is “yes”.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-13
- VIN: JN8BT3DD9PW
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Our 2023 Nissan Rogue with only 15,000 miles suffered complete engine failure (engine seized) driving on busy [XXX] passing through Baltimore. The safety of myself and my family was put at risk, and if we hadn't been in the left lane (allowing rapid access to the breakdown lane) we would have been in a multi-car pile-up going at high speeds. Afterward, my safety was at risk waiting for 5h on the busy highway waiting for a tow truck. There was a slightly rough engine sound just 15-30 minutes prior to the engine seizure, but no warning messages. The only message that appeared was "Engine Failure" at the moment the engine seized. The car was towed to the local Firestone Service station where they confirmed engine seizure with normal oil levels. We do not know if the oil had been compromised by infusion of gasoline (as we have now discovered is a problem with the Nissan Rogue engine). The car was subsequently towed to Bob Bell Nissan in Baltimore, and they have yet to inform us of their conclusions after 5 days. Route 9 Nissan in Westborough (where we bought the care) did not inform us that this was a potential problem nor that it is under investigation by the NHTSA. - Summary: Nissan put faulty roof rack seals on my vehicle. This is the same issue as they had in 2021 when they issued a service bulletin. They are willing to fix the roof rack seals but not replace the headliner. This has caused an unhealthy musty smell in the cabin and a big stain on the headliner and A-Pillars. Nissan corporate will not cover the cost of a new headliner and A-Pillars but can’t guarantee a stain free headliner to pre-stain condition

The car was parked as I had just gotten into it less than a minute prior. Only the driver's door was opened and shut for me to get into the vehicle prior to this incident. The hatch was not opened or closed directly prior to the back glass exploding. Upon doing a simple Google search, I am finding that it has happened to other people as well with these vehicles.

POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-21
- VIN: 5N1BT3BB4PC
- Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: At 8:00 PM, driving 70 MPH on [XXX] from Dallas to Houston, Texas, multiple warning lights and messages illuminated on the dash. Other than a low fuel warning, there were no other warnings or messages at the time of the incident. The warnings and messages displayed were "AWD Error", AEB system OFF, RAB system OFF, slip indicator or VDC OFF, master warning light, and "Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service now." When this occurred, the vehicle began decelerating, and I was unable to accelerate and return to highway speeds. I was driving in the left lane and had to make my way to the shoulder on the right of the highway. Fortunately, I came to a stop approximately two miles from the [XXX] exit for Centerville, Texas. It would have been extremely dangerous to remain on the shoulder, especially after sunset, so after reading the owner's manual, I decided to travel the shoulder at the very reduced speed my vehicle allowed. After exiting to a safe location and refueling, I called 24/7 Nissan roadside assistance at 8:50 PM. I was told a tow truck would arrive around 10:20 PM, and I would receive text messages with status updates. I called three more times, at 9:32, 11:28, and 11:54 PM. I never received a text message because no towing providers were ever located and dispatched to my location. On the final call at 11:54, I was told they would try again at 8:00 AM. Centerville, Texas is a small town with a population under 1,000 people. I was left stranded nearly 150 miles from home in a non-major metropolitan city without ample resources such as uber to take me to the nearest hotel. Furthermore, had I not called back, no one from Nissan was going to inform me that I would not receive a tow. - Summary: I received notice late April from Nissan about this recall. I promptly scheduled an appointment to bring my vehicle in for repair. I was told parts were back ordered and would arrive early June. I have contacted the dealership (Vision Nissan of Greece, NY) and Nissan HQ to inquire and was told parts were on back order. I asked when parts would be available and was given no time estimate. I have to drive my vehicle from New York State to Texas for a move (over 2,000 miles) starting June 25 and I have serious concerns for my and my family's safety in the vehicle due to the recall. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-05
- VIN: 5N1BT3AB6PC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: While I was driving out of state on [XXX], 2024, the engine light came on and stated "engine malfunction power reduced." Immediately the acceleration to the car was out. I was barely able to go 50 or 60 mph on the highway where everyone else was going 70 or 80 mph. Additionally the AWD light came on saying it was disabled as well. We were able to make it to safety, get a rental car, and then take my car to the nearest Nissan dealership in LaCrosse WI. I left my car there and waited to hear back about what was needed to repair the car. After talking to the service manager, Mike, he indicated he would talk to Nissan Corporate and let me know. Nissan Corporate advise the service team to clean the part in the car (the actuator?) and put it back in and that would fix it. This did not work because as I was driving back home to Mankato MN from LaCrosse WI, the same engine light came on while I was on the same highway going in 70 mph traffic. Again the car would barely go 50 to 60 mph, but we made it to a nearby gas station and called Nissan Roadside assistance. They towed my vehicle to the closest Nissan dealership in Rochester and it's been there since [XXX], 2024. Today's date is May 24, 2024. This dealership service shop has now replaced 3 parts (sensors?) and they were bringing my car back to me today Friday May 24, 2024. They were scheduled to arrive before 11:00am CST. At 11:42pm, I received a text from the service person I've been working with stating that: My car "had the issue again. We call Nissan and they told us to tow it back to our shop, as of right now stay in the rental but will be towed back today." I called the Rochester dealership around 2:00pm to see if they had any updates but they were still waiting for the car to get towed back and they had no other information. There were no other warning or error messages prior to this happening on [XXX], 2024. I've maintained regular maintenance on the car since purchasing the car from the dealer - Dec 2022 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-12-22
- VIN: 5N1BT3BB2PC
- Components: ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I can smell fuel inside my vehicle after my vehicle idles for 15-20 minutes. No visible leak on the ground, but fumes permeate my vehicle and have caused headaches to begin with my vehicle occupants and myself. I have noticed after driving and I park inside my garage, I can smell fuel as well, but no visible leak anywhere. The smell lasts for a good while after being parked, but eventually goes away. I made an appointment for December 22nd, 2023 to have it looked at, showed up Riverside Auto Mall of Marquette, MI and was turned away because if the vehicle isn't replicating what I am experiencing, they could not do anything about it because they don't know why its happening. I was told by the service manager to contact her if anyone began experiencing headaches. We did experience headaches at a later date this happened, had an appointment scheduled for April 1, 2024, and was called the same morning of the appointment to have it cancelled due to their "Nissan Technician" not being able to work on it since he was out of town. I was told I would receive a call back to reschedule, and to this day, May 20, 2024, I have not received a call. I have not made another appointment because I have a feeling I will be given the run around again, but I continue to smell fuel intermittently while idling. Not sure what else to do at this point because it is a leased vehicle.
Other/I am not sure PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-17
- VIN: 5N1BT3BB6PC
- Components: Other/I am not sure
- Summary: I am a CPST Instructor and was performing a car seat check. The choices offered for the model of child safety seat did not include the seat I'm checking. Specifically, the seat is a Graco TrioGrow SL, Model 2087507, Manufactured 07/19/2023. My issue is with the possibility of a missing part. This seat model name has SL at the end. In my experience, this indicates that the seat has a lock-off; the manufacturer refers to it as a SnugLoc. When I was examining the CSS, I noted that there was an oblong cavity in the back of the CSS and a metal bar at the top of the cavity, behind the seat pad. This would be the location of the lock-off for a forward-facing installation. My question is, is this seat missing that part and the stickers that indicate it's use? The contact stated he corresponded with Graco and found that the lock-off is not missing. The lock off was for rear facing and the lock-off has to be lifted/rotated to the forward-facing position.

My 2020 Nissan Rogue lease was up, and since I had no problems with it, I decided to lease another one - a 2023 Nissan Rogue SV. I've been driving it for 3 weeks now and I must say, I love it even more than the last one! The stop/start feature is amazing and the gas mileage has been outstanding so far. If you're in the market for a midsize SUV, I highly recommend adding this one to your list. Best of luck!

The fuel gauge in my 2023 Nissan Rogue is not functioning properly. Despite the gas tank being full, the display only registers 276 miles to empty. Additionally, the gas gauge takes time to reach the full mark after filling the tank. After researching the issue, it appears that the fuel level sensor sender unit may need to be replaced. Despite having a bumper to bumper warranty, the dealer was unable to locate the problem and refused to install new sensors. As this has been an ongoing issue for two months, I am confident that the necessary repairs are covered under my warranty and I expect the issue to be resolved promptly.

Buyer Beware! If you are considering the purchase of a new Nissan Rogue, please read this. Nissan is putting on knowingly inferior tires, prioritizing dollars and cents over the safety of consumers. I am writing this as a consumer alert, not out of vengeance. On September 31st, 2022, we leased a 2023 Nissan Rogue SV AWD. On November 15th, 2023, just over a year of driving, I took the vehicle in for a routine oil change at our local Nissan dealership. The vehicle had just over 13,000 miles on it at that time. I was surprised when the service advisor came out and informed me that my tires were shot and I needed to replace all 4 tires. I felt that I needed a second opinion and went to a local tire store. They confirmed that my tires were indeed shot. The brand of tires and the model of the tires were Dunlop Grandtrek PT21 Mud & Snow. The local tire store gave me the customer service number to Dunlop. Before I called them, I went online to see if anyone else was having this problem or if I was an anomaly. To my shock, what I saw online were thousands of reviews, dating back several years, stating the exact same issue that I had. People were complaining that Nissan was putting on this inferior tire and had to replace all 4 tires after approximately 13-15,000 miles. I called Dunlop to see what they could do. They informed me that the tires they sell to Nissan do not come with a warranty. They said they would see what they could do, but I would have to take it to one of their factory stores. Unfortunately, there wasn’t one in my area, but there was one about an hour and a half away. I agreed to go there to see what they would do. When I got there, I was told that the tires I had were terrible tires and that they have had to replace several of them at the owners' expense. They did agree not to charge me for installation. I also found out that Dunlop is owned by Goodyear and ended up telling them I would not accept Dunlop again. They were kind enough to suggest that I put on Goodyear tires and advised me to contact NISSAN to see if they could offer any goodwill. I contacted NISSAN customer service and the representative I spoke to was surprised at my situation and promised to escalate it to the executive team. Although the response from the NISSAN executive team was not satisfactory, they recommended that I contact the BBB Auto Line to file a complaint, which I did. If you are considering purchasing a NEW NISSAN ROGUE, please be aware that you may need to replace the tires after 1 year or about 13,000 miles, which could cost you $700-$900. While it is true that NISSAN did not manufacture the tires, they have been receiving complaints for several years and have not taken appropriate action to address the issue. I urge you to consider this before making a purchase.

I recently purchased the 2023 Nissan Rogue because I was drawn to its sleek design and the advertised fuel efficiency of 28 city and 35 highway. However, after driving 3400 miles, mostly on the highway, I have found that the vehicle only averages 25.6 MPG, according to a fuel tracking app. While the computer shows an average of 27.9 MPG, I was disappointed with the real-world results. Despite visiting the dealership and speaking with a Nissan representative, they were unable to address my concerns. Additionally, I found the vehicle to be under-powered and not up to my expectations. Ultimately, I have decided to trade it in for a non-Nissan vehicle. It is important for potential buyers to be aware of the issues with the 1.5ltr 3 cylinder engine.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my new 2023 Nissan Rogue Platinum. While I'm enjoying the car overall, I was a bit disappointed to find out that it doesn't come with some features that are pretty standard in other SUVs. Specifically, I was hoping for Homelink, cooled seats, and rain sensor wipers, which I've come to expect in top-end vehicles. Unfortunately, I had to pay an extra $750 to get Homelink installed. I think Nissan could have done better with the high-end features on this model. Thanks for listening!

The center console design may be impractical as the lid is a twin design split front to back. When open, the driver side doesn't even open to 90 degrees, which can be a bit inconvenient. It may force you to lean towards the passenger seat to look down into the console.
