2023 Chevrolet Bolt euv problems

chevrolet logo

The Chevrolet Bolt EUV (short for "electric utility vehicle") is a battery electric subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand, presented on February 14, 2021.

As a larger version of the similarly named Chevrolet Bolt EV, the EUV shares its BEV2 platform and powertrain.

History

The Bolt EUV was introduced in February 2021, and released to the Mexican market on August 17, 2021. As the first EUVs were arriving at dealerships in August 2021, all vehicles were recalled to replace the traction battery; Bolt EV and EUV production was paused from November 2021 to April 2022, and fewer than 400 Bolts (both EV and EUV) were delivered before April.

It is the first Chevrolet vehicle to receive the hands-free Super Cruise driver-assistance package.

Unlike early versions of the Bolt EV, the battery for the Bolt EUV is manufactured in the United States at LG plants in Michigan.

How long will 2023 Chevy Bolt battery last?

between 3 to 5 years

Your 2023 Chevy Bolt EV battery will typically last between 3 to 5 years, but that can change laboriously depending on weather conditions battery size, type of battery, and driving habits. Even still, just because your battery isn't absolutely dead, doesn't mean it's operating perfectly.

Why are they discontinuing the Chevy Bolt?

GM needed the plant for other EVs

The Bolt and Bolt EUV are built at GM's Orion Assembly plant in Michigan. GM had already announced plans to retool that plant to ramp up production of the Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV pickups in 2024. That same consideration killed the car journalist-beloved Volt hybrid.

Do new Chevy bolts have battery problems?

The brand does have a battery recall that is ongoing, due to a manufacturing defect that can lead to a battery fire/meltdown, but very few vehicles have actually caught fire. GM has addressed the issue with temporary software fixes until all the Bolt batteries are replaced.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt discontinued?

General Motors surprised investors — and electric vehicle fans — when it said in July that the little Chevrolet Bolt EV will be revamped, rather than killed off entirely at the end of 2023 as originally planned.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-01-18
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S00P4
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: 1) What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - When a car stopped in front of us suddenly, the brakes on the car did not fully stop the car and continued to skid even when the break was pushed all the way down. I believe there is an issue with the EV braking system or software associated with the braking system. While this occurs rarely, this has occurred a handful of times in the last year that we have owned this car. The first time resulted in damage to my front bumper which had to be repaired. 2) How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - Nobody has been hurt yet. But this is absolutely a safety concern for us. 3) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - We brought the car into the dealership in mid June 2024 and they said they found no issues with the braking system. They told me to contact Chevy's main phone number to complain. I tried calling but have not had any luck reaching a person, as I was simply put on hold for about an hour. 4) Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - This was only inspected by the dealership during a routine service check in June 2024. No issues were found by them. 5) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - None that I remember.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-09-11
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S08P4
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: This vehicle has now suffered 5 instances of phantom braking, clear road and clear weather in 10,000 miles of use. Two occurrences within the last week despite carefully cleaning the car and sensors/camera. Twice I have nearly been rear-ended. The dealer found no issues when this was initially reported.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-13
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: 1G1FY6S07P4
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV. The contact stated while driving at approximately 3 MPH and turning into a parking spot, the contact stated that the vehicle independently accelerated, drove over the parking bumper, and crashed into a tree. The contact stated that the front passenger lights and the front passenger side grill were damaged. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was unhurt. The contact had taken the vehicle to a collision repair shop. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-08-15
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S04P4
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: Forward collision warning / automatic emergency braking engaged with no hazard in front of the car. Occurred in slow, heavy traffic at approximately 20 mph. Lanes were straight (not on a curve). Vehicle in front of mine was at least four vehicle lengths ahead. Lanes to the left and right were occupied by large box trucks - I suspect they confused the system. Car has just over 10,000 miles. Vehicle briefly braked hard, which if the vehicle behind me had been following too close could have run into mine. Have not yet contacted a dealer or service center. Not inspected as no actual collision occurred. System once gave an erroneous warning of forward collision with no other vehicles on the road in the first month of service.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-06-25
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S00P4
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE
  • Summary: The situation occurs when using supercruise (GM’s lane centering and adaptive cruise control system). Under certain conditions with super cruise engaged and one pedal drive mode active, pressing the cancel cruise button (example: taking manual control briefly in order to allow a merging car into your lane) causes the vehicle to abruptly decelerate without the ability to override with the pedal. This uncontrollable abrupt deceleration poses a hazard to vehicles behind me. This deceleration can only really be overridden by proactively pressing on the accelerator prior to disengaging the super cruise system. I suspect this problem is caused by logic in the super cruise system which does not allow the vehicle to accelerate while the steering wheel is flashing red (such as during disengagement). Generally, removing the flashing red condition from the steering wheel requires applying torque to the steering wheel. However, this is not practical when driving straight and needing to disengage the system. The supercruise system needs to be able to safely and properly disengage at the press of a button without needing to step on the accelerator. I believe that disengaging supercruise without pressure on the accelerator pedal should lead to the car defaulting to going into maximum one pedal braking yet still being able to accelerate on command if needed. The current state of the system requires torque on the steering wheel in order to be able to accelerate out of such a situation.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-22
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: 1G1FY6S08P4
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: While turning into a parking space, my car unexpectedly accelerated rapidly. My car crashed into a concrete barrier damaging the front end and tossing items around the car. Additional details: I was driving my car in single-pedal mode. In this mode, when you lift your foot from the accelerator, the car automatically brakes. I have a lot of experience in single-pedal mode, and I am very familiar and comfortable with how it works. On the morning in question, I was coming around a corner in an underground parking garage, and pulling into a parking space immediately around the corner. To do this, I was making a hair pin turn, moving at very slow speed. I was pulling in alongside a car that was already parked there. When the front of my car was in the space and I was completing my turn, I lifted my foot from the accelerator, and the car suddenly lurched forward at high speed. Before I could recover, the car crashed into a high concrete curb that marked the end of the parking space. The front bumper of my car was damaged and items flew off the seats of my car onto the floor. I was shaken up, but the air bags did not deploy. I was able to back out, complete parking, and proceed with my day. If this had happened in other circumstances, it could have led to loss of life. If I was on a street, and pedestrians were walking, for example. If the concrete curb had not been there to stop me, I don't know what would have happened. If another car had been where the curb was, it would have been damaged. This has only happened once. We haven't tried to reproduce it. I have continued to drive the car, and it has been fine. There were no indications (warning lights, etc) that this was going to happen. No warning lights have gone on since it happened. The car has not yet been inspected, but I plan on bringing it to the dealership to have it checked out. I did not file a police or insurance report.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-21
  • VIN: 1G1FY6S01P4
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I purchased a used 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV one week ago today and was shocked to learn of a known issue with the rear brake lights many claim is a very serious and hazardous design flaw. Undoubtedly, you have received complaints from fellow 2022 & 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV owners who have advised the car's rear brake lights are dangerously located down below in the bumper section. The mid-section of the back (hatch area) lights are "running lights" only. During daylight, the mid-section rear lights are not illuminated at any time per design (neither turn signal nor brake lights); yet, this creates a confusing (at minimum) situation for fellow drivers who are following the car. Although placement of the brake lights down below in the bumper section meets safety guidelines, the typical driver (myself included) is trained to watch for brake lights and turn signals in tail-light mid-section on the back of the vehicle. In addition to this, owners of bigger / taller trucks and SUVs who may be following a bit too closely may not see the bumper brake lights at all. Today, the theory was tested in real life, as I was nearly "rear-ended" by another vehicle in moderate city traffic while stopped at a stop light. The driver coming up behind me slammed on his brakes and screeched to a stop while I moved forward slightly to avoid the crash. Naturally, the other driver thought my brake lights were non-functioning as he passed me yelling through his rolled down window I needed to "fix (my) fu*king brakes lights". THIS HAPPENED AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A MERE 200 MILES AFTER I PURCHASED LAST WEEK. If I extrapolate, this means my life will potentially be in danger from a rear end collision *50 TIMES* over the next year assuming I conservatively drive 10,000 miles. This is incredibly unacceptable and is shameful. GM needs to recall these vehicles immediately and install appropriate brake and turn signal lights. How many injuries and deaths will it take I wonder. Please act now. Thank you.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-20
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S03P4
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I noticed on the steering column and "one pedal" (bumper to bumper speed) brakes, both do not activate the brake lights -- a concern for vehicles from behind to be warned of my pending slowing down speed. The potential of being hit from behind is far greater without any indication of slowing down without brake lights activated using the steering column and "one pedal" breaking.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-01
  • VIN: 1G1FY6S09P4
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: Dashboard went blank for a second and reset itself twice while driving at 65 mph in the mountains of AZ, near sunset. This happened once in 18k of driving, right after infotainment system partially failed: audio failed and parts of touch screen failed to respond. Danger is in the unsuspecting driver's reaction in poor driving conditions. Call to On Star was initiated but it uses the same audio system the infotainment system uses. So On Star failed. Pulled over; restarted car several times, infotainment system was silent. 2 hours of driving in silence; parked for 2 hours; restarted car and everything was back to normal. Took it to dealer. Unable to recreate this problem. Updated software downloaded to infotainment system. No information if this fixes problems. Until we understand why infotainment problems may cause dashboard to go dark, this car is unsafe for unsuspecting drivers. My wife was driving; I in passenger seat, she won't be driving this car again until this is understood better and fixed. Thank you for your help

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-12-15
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S09P4
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the infotainment screen displayed a red, triangular warning symbol, rendering the back-up camera inoperable. The contact also stated that an alert feature warning the driver of incoming objects also failed to operate as needed. In addition, the contact stated that the infotainment system intermittently failed to return to normal operation while shifted out of reverse(R). The vehicle had been taken to the dealer on numerous occasions where the wiring harness, back-up camera, head unit, infotainment screen, and other parts related to the defect had been replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been notified on numerous occasions about the failure but offered no solutions. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,506.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-10-31
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S00P4
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: UNKNOWN Recall issue: there is a safety issue regarding the inconsistent Regen braking. Does not brake the same (or at all) when car is charged. Making it unsafe to rely on EV in braking scenarios. Braking should be the same (e.g., expected distance, hardness) whether fully charged or not. I know it is based on Regen requirements, but you can not rely on it to brake you (per expected distance) if just charged, as opposed to harder/shorter braking if battery is low, a.k.a. needing more Regen. Regen is a neat feature, but associated with inconsistent braking is not.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-02-16
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S0XP4
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: Intermittently, the car's cameras will be unavailable for the duration of a drive. Backup camera does not show a feed when the car is in Reverse. Simply turning the car off and back on again does not resolve the issue. Issues goes away by itself, and reappears some amount of time later. No consistent location, temperature, time of day, or other condition has been observed.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-02-18
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S02P4
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE
  • Summary: This car is equipped with Super Cruise an automated driving feature that I believe had a huge part in my inability to avoid hitting a deer. There should be many more considerations and warnings to consumers to protect them. In my situation I kept driving for much longer than I should have because the strain was not so bad. But the feature does not have a feature to pull over. I had to manually pull over and it was in this short period of time where I was clearly too impaired to drive without super cruise but with it I was still fine I could keep my eyes open and on the road which was the only requirement. I was really not prepared and should have been told to make sure you get off the road sooner than you think because once you’re off the highway if you don’t have enough alertness to even pull over or in my case avoid a deer running straight toward my car. The steering feature steered me back toward the deer as I tried to steer away from it. It was running toward me so I tried to steer away to brake. In order to overpower these safety systems I needed to be more alert. Nobody talks about this and I’m normally a really alert driver that’s never been in an accident before I’ve avoided many without these safety features. I know it was my fault for being too tired, but again people shouldn’t be learning that in a life or death situation that should be explained to them. Obviously I would never use that feature until the point I was too tired like I normally do when I’m driving because like I said there is no safe way to pull over if you don’t have the alertness. I mean imagine it was a child and not a deer and I hit a child. That would be a mistake you can’t come back from and I don’t want that to happen to me or anybody else. I’m really second guessing all of this automatic driving because us as consumers have not been properly educated on how to use them safely cause I don’t think these automakers know they are in such a rush to beat each order to market it’s dangerou

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-02-06
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S02P4
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: The car has now had five instances of phantom braking. The first time, I was in the left turning lane. A light rail type train was to the left. I was stopped waiting for the light to turn green. When the light turned green and the car in front of me started moving, I removed my foot from the brake and began to accelerate. I moved forward about 10 feet and the automatic braking system engaged at the car was stopped. There was no object or person in the path of the car. I went to accelerate again and the same thing happened. Both the passenger in the car and I were stumped. We’d never seen this happen before. The third time this happened, I was pulling into a driveway with a slight slope. There was a fence to the left and it was raining. When I was 1/2 way into the driveway, the car screeched to a stop. I’ve pulled into this driveway numerous times and this was the first phantom stop. I tried to accelerate again and it again stopped itself. Most recently (earlier this week) was the most worrisome because I was actually driving a bit faster. There were no cars, objects or people anywhere. I was going perhaps 5 mph and the car slammed to a halt. I thought the common factor was low speed and an object like the light rail or fence to the left like in the previous four instances. But, that was not the case here and it was far scarier.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-01-11
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S0XP4
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: Last month I ran out of battery before getting home when the weather was 15 degrees and windy. Without my knowledge the vehicle was heating the battery significantly reducing the remaining range, no vehicle indicator warning that the vehicle was conditioning the battery. I realized what was happening when I turned on outside venting without using heat to defrost the window and the air was hot, if I was new to the vehicle or on my first trip I would have been stranded in an area where there may not have been a place to pull off the highway. I decided to report this in case it can save even one person’s life, there is an increased danger and liability not knowing this information. As most people, I set the cruise and pay attention to the road so majority of the time you don’t see the unknown increases in the kW usage, an update should be required to show an alarm of some sort and the additional active kW consumption and expected range deduction when the vehicle is doing any kind of conditioning (heating, cooling, or maintenance). There is a battery maintenance % view that should be modified to accommodate this.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-12-12
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S08P4
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: I was driving normally at low-to-moderate speed when the brake -- or emergency brake, I'm not sure -- engaged for a moment all by itself, thrusting me forward unexpectedly. There was no "beeping" to indicate that there was any car, object or person in my way. It was temporary but terrifying. Fortunately, I was not rear-ended. This is the second time this has happened. I didn't report it at the time, but today, it happened again (I will report it under a separate incident) so this is clearly an ongoing issue.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-02-08
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S08P4
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: My husband was driving (I was the passenger). We were driving down the road normally, straight ahead,, not too close to anyone else, when suddenly the brake (or emergency brake, which is what it sounded like to me) engaged out of nowhere, throwing us forward. (My husband's foot was on the accelerator pedal, not the brake pedal.) Unlike the last two times this happened, this time the car did "beep" as if there was a potential collision, except there truly was not. We weren't going fast and had good distance from the car in front of us. Just a normal drive. Like the previous two incidents, the system corrected itself within a second or two and let us continue, but it's terrifying because the car had a mind of its own. Again, fortunately, no one rear-ended us, but it definitely could have happened if the car behind us was closer.

POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-01-30
  • Number Of Injuries: 2
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: 1G1FY6S00P4
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: One pedal speed control was used to slow down and stop the car approaching a busy intersection. The car came to a complete stop and was idle at the intersection. While stopped at the red light, the car suddenly accelerated into oncoming traffic and was directly heading towards a head-on collision. The driver turned the car to the left, avoiding injury, however, a party in the other vehicle was injured. The Chevy Bolt received extensive damage and was totaled. The police filed a report and the insurance company inspected the vehicle and has taken possession of the vehicle.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-01-10
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S04P4
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
  • Summary: Brake light problems, i.e., the brake and turn signal lights are mounted on the bumper. TOO low and dangerous. Trucks and pickups especially DO NOT see these low mounted lights. I've been almost rear-ended when stopping on numerous occasions. Drivers expect to see lights at line of sight NOT at the bottom of a vehicle. The earlier versions of the Boldt had the lights higher, why this poor design? It may be legal but certainly not acceptable in today's world. This is a SAFETY issue and unacceptable. Owners are rewiring their cars (see Chevy Boldt Forum or YouTube videos) which should not have to be done on a new 2023 vehicle.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-02-14
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S0XP4
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE
  • Summary: Adaptive cruise failed just over 2k miles following another vehicle under 60mph and sped up to set cruise of 75 and would have hit the truck if I didn’t stop it, I took video of failure directly after the incident. First bolt EUV camera failed more than once even after it was replaced, that car was bought back under battery recall. My point is, it’s a continued issue. With lane keep assist you must always be prepared for it not to function, it doesn’t always work and have to cycle the on/off button (same with previous EUV too). While in super cruise in my current vehicle it tried to locate the left lane but a big rig was on the line and my car appeared it was going to hit the truck multiple times within a few seconds as each time I had to bring the car back to the center until I turned it off. I have parts on order but I personally don’t believe that will be the end of based upon my two vehicles.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-11-25
  • VIN: 1G1FZ6S01P4
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: While merging onto a highway with a 60 mph speed limit, we got an error message that there was a propulsion system error and our speed was limited to 30 mph. Our car slowed down and could not accelerate. There was no warning before the speed was limited and no way to change course. It was Saturday night Nov. 25th and we had our one and half year old daughter in the backseat. Thank god my husband was able to react quickly and that there was shoulder for us to pull over on. Honestly we could have been killed or seriously injured. It’s a huge safety issue that the car will suddenly, without any warning, prevent you from going above a certain speed. The purpose is to protect the car, as I understand it, but there should at the very least be a countdown. I’m incredibly grateful I can report this to and that there wasn’t a tragic accident, but if this how this feature operates, it only a matter of time before there is one. Also there is less than 1000 miles on our car.

Negative 2023 Chevrolet Bolt euv car reviews

  1. Jaylon Kunze 2024-11-19

A friend of mine left a review stating that the car is pretty small, even for her small frame. When I took it for a test drive, it seemed fine for me as the driver. However, after driving it for a while, I realized that it is smaller than I initially thought. I often bump elbows with the front passenger, and the sloping rear roof makes the rear window pretty small. Nonetheless, it is still a serviceable car. I needed a car quickly when I bought it, so I didn't have much time to consider other options. If I had more time, I probably would have looked at other cars more seriously.

We were informed that this car could charge up until 415, but after using it, we found out that this was not true as we can never charge past 320. We were told that it's due to the weather, even when charging inside. Could someone please help us with this issue? We were really counting on being able to charge up to 415 and it's important to us.

Overall, the car is not too bad. The interior is nice enough and the exterior, in my opinion, doesn't look bad either. While the handling isn't great, it does have good acceleration. However, I have to give it a 2-star rating due to the advertised range. Chevy claims it gets 247 miles per charge, but in my experience, I barely get 220 miles from a charge even when driving on flat freeways at 65mph with the AC and heater off and using cruise control. Despite this issue, I am generally happy with the car. I hope Chevy can address the range issue or adjust their advertising. Thank you for considering my feedback.

Thank you Edmund's for providing this website. When buying a new or used car, it's important to do your homework! I gave the Bolt EUV a rating of 2 due to the battery warranty only being 8 years or 100,000 miles, and it took 3 months to special order. Additionally, it only has front-wheel drive which is not ideal for snow-covered streets, and there is no frunk in the front. The rear trunk hatch is not powered, and there is no auto parallel parking. While Super Cruise is free for the first 3 years, after that, there is a monthly On-Star fee of $26 - $35, and it can only be used on interstate roads. The depreciation for a 2022 Bolt is $15,123, and it is not applicable for 2023. My wife is sensitive to the cold, so leaving an EV car during the hot summer months in mid-Florida is a concern due to the high temperature inside a closed garage when gone for 5-6 months. Unless told otherwise, the local Chevy dealer adds an extra $1,899 for a 5-item Customer Preferred Package. On the positive side, the Bolt EUV is a low-cost car to buy and drive in town. I wanted the Bolt EUV Premier because it has a small outside size, making it easier for my wife to park. The second-row seats have good, large leg and headroom (38 inches), and it's roomy enough for 2 tall adults. The trunk space is big enough for groceries or 3 large suitcases. The inside rearview mirror camera shows both side's blind areas, and the 360-degree cameras show the distance of the car's 4 sides when parking. A big plus is the regenerative braking, which saves front brake wear. TPM (tire pressure monitoring) and Adaptive Cruise are standard, and I use it in town when set at 50 MPH. I got the Ghost Gray color, so I don't have to wash the car as much as a darker or lighter colored surface.

Positive 2023 Chevrolet Bolt euv car reviews

My Chevy Bolt has many of the amenities of a luxury vehicle without the price tag. I'm so glad I made the switch from fossil fuels and I'm never looking back! Chevrolet is making the transition easy by sponsoring a 'charger on us' program. The vehicle even comes with its own charger in the trunk, so there's no need to purchase a separate one unless you want to. Thank you, Chevrolet, for making the purchase of an EV vehicle affordable for more people.

I've only owned this car for three weeks, so perhaps it's a bit early for a review. However, I must say that the Bolt has exceeded my expectations so far. With careful driving and in Florida weather, this EV repeatedly gets about 4 to 5 mi/kWh, which allows for a range of 300+ miles. It has plenty of power when needed, and my version (a redline) has more features than I expected. I would give it 5 stars, which it deserves, if fast charging was more than 50kw. In my opinion, this car is a great deal for travels up to 400 miles distance with a 30 min lunch break.

The Bolt EUV is an excellent choice for commuters, especially if you have the convenience of charging at home. However, if you have to rely on DC fast charging, it may not be the best option as it can be a bit slow and negate the cost benefits of owning an electric vehicle. On the bright side, GM paid for my 240 volt Level 2 charger installation, and with the federal tax rebate in 2023, I was able to get a new car for about $20K, which has operating costs half that of a comparable gas-powered car. Even the base trim has impressive features like wireless Car Play and wireless phone charging, and the interior quality is top-notch, surpassing even my previous Chevy Sonic and Cruze. The car is incredibly quiet on the highway, with minimal wind and road noise. While some have complained about the tires, I have had no issues with them in Texas weather. Just remember to rotate the tires every 5 or 6K miles. Overall, this is the best new car I've owned, and I've owned quite a few Chevys in the past (01 Malibu, 08 Aveo, 14 Sonic, 18 Cruze).

You're getting a fantastic deal with this product! It's packed with features that are usually only found in more expensive models.

I'm so glad to hear that you've been enjoying your car! It sounds like you had a great experience driving from the Central Valley to the Bay Area. The interior sounds fantastic, and I'm happy to hear that the cruise control and ventilated seats are working well for you. It's great that the ride is quiet and that you're getting plenty of performance. And the pricing seems very reasonable, especially with the federal tax rebate. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and recommendation for the Premier!
