2013 Nissan Nv200 problems
The Nissan NV200 is a light commercial and leisure activity, 4/5-door van designed and produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan since 2009.
Overview
The vehicle was previewed as the NV200 Concept at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, followed by the 2008 Nissan Tenjin Motor Show. The concept vehicle was equipped with a remote control panel for a spider camera, and equipment for organizing and editing photographs and images on the move.
The vehicle was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, followed by 2010 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition. The vehicle went on sale in Japan before summer 2009, followed by Europe in autumn 2009 and then in China and other markets. Available in combi and passenger car versions, NV200 was built on a modified version of Nissan's B platform, with fully independent strut type front suspension mounted on a separate subframe and a leaf spring rear axle.

Common 2013 Nissan Nv200 problems
The Nissan NV200, a compact cargo van introduced in 2013, has been praised for its good gas mileage and adequate space.
One of the most common problems reported by owners of the 2013 Nissan NV200 is premature tire wear. This issue has been documented by CarComplaints, with 48 complaints and four recalls for the 2013 NV200. The main reliability woe for this model year is premature tire wear, with one owner reporting severe front tire wear on their newly purchased NV200 van after only three months and 17,000 miles.
In addition to tire and transmission problems, the 2013 Nissan NV200 has also faced issues with the Occupant Classification System (OCS). Nissan has had two air bag recalls and one class-action lawsuit for the NV200, with the first recall in 2014 covering certain 2013 NV200 models with faulty OCS. The OCS is a safety feature that uses multiple sensors to track the occupant's weight and seating position to determine at which speed the air bag deploys. However, the OCS may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify an occupied seat as empty, which could result in the frontal air bag not deploying in the event of a collision.
While the Nissan NV200 has been praised for its good reliability, it still has common issues like faulty sliding doors, air bag issues, clogged EVAP systems, and premature tire wear.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-19
- VIN: 5bzaf0aa4dn
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: My wife stoped on the side of the road to talk with my son who was sitting in the front passenger seat. When my wife shut the door behind him all of the side curtain airbags deployed on the passenger side of the van. Three of my other children were inside the van when the bags depoyed. The two youngest 10, and 11, were sitting in the middle and were not hit with the bags. The oldest 14 was sittning next to the wall and was hit by the bags. There was no accident or impact that would have set the airbags off except the shutting of the front passenger door. The van is currently at Mossy Nissan in Houston TX and availible for inspection. We have filed with Nissan Corperate and they are opening an investigation. No warning lamps were present except a check engine light and low tire air pressure. Mossy nissan has supposedly ran a diagnostics on the van but have not told us the results. We are not confident that the dealership will be honest and forthcoming with information. When we brought the vehicle in we were met with skeptisism that we were being honest. Comments were overheard by my wife that were not appropriate to the situation.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-08-21
- VIN: 5BZAF0AA7DN
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2013 AND LIVE ARIZONA. SUMMERS ARE EXTREMELY HOT. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR OUR FAMILY. AT THE TIME WE HAD 7 CHILDREN. WE NOW HAVE 10, SO EVERY SEAT IN OUR VAN IS TAKEN. WE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE AIR FLOW AND AIR CONDITIONING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VAN BACK IN 2013 AND WERE TOLD THAT THIS IS HOW PASSENGER VANS ARE. WE WERE TOLD SINCE IT WAS SUCH A LARGE AMOUNT OF SPACE TO COOL AND ARE VAN IS BLACK IT WAS JUST THE NATURE OF THIS TYPE OF VAN. HOWEVER, AS MORE PEOPLE ARE PURCHASING THIS VAN FOR THEIR FAMILIES WE HAVE READ MORE POSTS ABOUT THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE AND REFUSE TO CONTINUE TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS JUST HOW ALL PASSENGER VANS ARE.. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THE DESIGN OF THE AIR SYSTEM. MY CHILDREN ARE SWEATING, TURNING RED AND COMPLAIN OF THE HEAT IN THE BACK 2 ROWS. THE ONLY AREA THAT FEELS THE AIR CONDITIONER IS THE FRONT SEAT AND THE 2ND ROW BECAUSE THEY FEEL THE COLD FROM THE FRONT VENTS. I HAVE YOUNG KIDS SITTING IN THE BACK 2 ROWS IN CAR SEATS. I CANNOT VISUALLY SEE HOW HOT THEY ARE GETTING WHILE I'M DRIVING UNTIL WE GET TO OUR DESTINATION AND SEE THEY HAVE BEEN SWEATING PROFUSELY. WE COOL THE CAR OFF FAR AT LEAST 10 MINS BEFORE LOADING THE KIDS AND TRY TO PARK UNDER THE SHADE BUT THE VAN STILL DOES NOT COOL OFF PROPERLY IN THE BACK. I HAVE PURCHASED MINI FANS TO SO THE KIDS CAN TRY AND COOL THEMSELVES OFF WITH THEM BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE A CHILD SUFFERS FROM HEAT STROKE! NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION BEFORE A CHILD IS HURT. THE DESIGN OF THEIR AIR SYSTEM IS NOT ADEQUATE. THEY NEED TO REALIZE THAT THERE ARE FAMILIES THAT REQUIRE THE USE OF A PASSENGER VAN, WHO LIVE IN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS. THEY CANNOT WAIT UNTIL A CHILD DIES FROM HEAT IN THEIR VEHICLE BEFORE THEY TAKE ANY ACTION TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.

- Summary: I WAS DRIVING IN YORKTOWN, NY 10598 AND AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT THE CORNER OF HALLOCKS MILL RD. ON TO ROUTE 202, MY NISSAN NV200 VAN JUST STOPPED. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO FLASHING LIGHTS, NO SOUND, NOTHING TO INDICATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. UP UNTIL THIS POINT, THE VAN WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY AS IT HAD BEEN DOING SINCE I GOT IT. I HAD NO REASON TO SUSPECT THAT IT WOULD JUST COME TO A DEAD HALT AND THE ENGINE WOULD DIE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AND CARS WERE NOT GOING FAST. HOWEVER, IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON A MAIN ROAD, ESPECIALLY ONE OF THE HIGHWAYS THAT I TRAVEL ON, LIKE RTE. 84, THE MAJOR DEEGAN, THE TACONIC, ETC. I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. IMAGINE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC WITH TRUCKS BARRELING DOWN AT YOU AND YOUR CAR JUST STOPS! IMAGINE IF I HAD MY FAMILY IN THE VAN IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE AND I DON'T FEEL I CAN SAFELY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AGAIN.

2013 Nissan Nv200 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2013 Nissan Nv200.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Altima, LEAF, Pathfinder, and Sentra, model year 2013 NV200 (aka Taxi) and Infiniti JX35 and model year 2014 Infiniti Q50 and QX60 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the occupant classification system (OCS) software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.
- Consequence: If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger airbag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on April 14, 2014. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: STEERING:COLUMN
- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013 NV200 vehicles. After the affected vehicles were built, the steering column assembly was disassembled for inspection. The steering columns may not have been reassembled correctly after the inspection.
- Consequence: The incorrect reassembly of the steering column may cause certain steering column components to separate resulting in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Nissan has notified the owners and inspected and corrected the steering column assembly as necessary, free of charge. The recall began in November 2013. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
- Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Nissan North America Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013 NV200 vehicles manufactured February 6, 2013, through August 2, 2013. Due to the routing of the wiring harness that connects the fusible link to the battery fuse terminal, the wiring harness may wear through its protective covering, allowing the wires to touch the bracket that holds the fusible link.
- Consequence: If the wires and the bracket make contact, a short circuit may result, causing the battery terminal fuse to blow. If the fuse blows while driving, the fuel pump will stop and cause the engine to stop running, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and reposition the wiring harness and apply a protective covering to it, free of charge. The recall began on December 9, 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share that I've been experiencing some issues with my nv200 tires. Specifically, I've noticed that the rear tires are wearing out much faster than expected. After visiting two different dealerships, they both confirmed that the rear axle is not aligned correctly. Unfortunately, despite this information and the fact that many others have reported similar issues on carcomplaints.com, Nissan has yet to address the problem. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Your golf cart-like vehicle may not be the most perfect, but it certainly gets the job done! I have owned it for a year now and have put 15000 miles on it. Even when carrying a heavy load of 400 lbs in the rear for work, it has no problem getting around. However, I have noticed an issue with the rear axle and tires. The camber is off on both sides, which has caused the tires to wear out quickly. Unfortunately, there is no adjustment available, and the dealer claims that it is within specifications. They have also suggested that I replace the tires, which are quite expensive at $200 each.
