MY MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE HAD FAILED. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEM PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. THE CAR HAS 59K MILES AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. THE WEATHER WHEN THIS OCCURRED WAS CLEAR. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH ACURA (CASE #05948611) BECAUSE I SEE THAT THIS UNIT HAS FAILED FOR OTHER OWNERS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION CREATING AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD.

I TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT AGAIN AND THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK. DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN (COMPLETE FAILURE) A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET WITH MY FAMILY. I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL "JERK" TO LEFT AND RIGHT AND THEN A COMPLETE LOSS OF THE POWER STEERING. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN THE CAR IN LANE AND PULL IT OVER WITH USING A LOT OF FORCE. TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF DID NOT HELP. THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OR A CURVY ROAD, COULD HAVE ENDED IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING IT REQUIRES A LOT OF FORCE TO CONTROL THE CAR. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT IS THE EPS UNIT (~$1,200 PARTS PLUS LABOR) . I CALLED ACURA'S MAIN OFFICE WITH MY CONCERN. THEY PROMISED TO LOOK INTO THIS AND TALK TO THE DEALER ABOUT DISCOUNTED FIX (MANUFACTURER WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED). I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND THERE IS OVER A HUNDRED OF SIMILAR EPS COMPLAINTS FOR ACURA AND HONDA. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION OPENED UNDER HONDA, HOWEVER, IT WAS CLOSED WITHOUT A RECALL. THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.

After shopping for the A4, 3-Series, and C-class wagons, I found that the TSX Sport Wagon offered the best value. The tech package model has features that are not even available on the other three, and even when fully loaded, it is priced lower than the others. Additionally, Acura maintenance and repair costs are lower than those of BMW and Mercedes. The four-cylinder engine makes the Sport Wagon quick while still getting good mileage. The Volvo available seemed too small in comparison to the others, especially for the price.

Congratulations on your TSX Sports Wagon! It's great to hear that you are enjoying it so much. I noticed some negative reviews online, but I'm glad to see that you disagree with them. It sounds like you made a smart choice by getting a 2012 model at a discounted price. Try to figure out why VW did not launch the Passat Variant for its new model! The stationwagon segment has so few models in the mid range segment. As a fellow German car fan, I recently had the opportunity to try the Acura for the first time and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with its driving experience. It reminded me of my Audi A3 - so nimble and tight in curves. Additionally, the interior is simply gorgeous.

Definitely rides like a luxury car without the price tag. I was even able to fit a 60-inch TV in the cargo area! While it can be a bit sluggish on acceleration and I have had some issues with the Bluetooth connectivity, I am still happy with it. Plus, I haven't had any major maintenance costs at 45,000 miles yet. The dealer support has been super helpful too!

Congratulations on your new 2012 TSX wagon! Thank you for sharing your feedback. It's great to hear that you are getting around 33 mpg on flat roads when keeping it under 75mph. For city/suburban driving, 24-25 mpg is still pretty good. The handling and interior comfort are both very good, which is always important. While the performance is average to good, it's not really a sporty car.
