  • Summary: 1. On September 9, 2021, my 2016 NV 200 suddenly and unexpectedly broke down in Gila Bend AZ on a trip from the Bay Area to Austin to visit my grandchild. After refueling and pulling back onto the road towards the Interstate 8 on-ramp, the vehicle suddenly died. It was extremely difficult to steer it towards the side of the road and the ignition was inoperable. 2. I was unable to get the vehicle completely off the road and semi's were honking at me because I was dangerously in their path. There could easily have been a collision. I called 911 and the Arizona State Troopers pushed it all the way onto the shoulder. I then had it towed to the Tempe Nissan dealership 3. The problem was diagnosed by Tempe Nissan. It appeared that the cause of the breakdown was a blown fuel pump fuse. They also replaced the battery. They attempted to do a wheel alignment but could not because the inner tie rod was bent so they also replaced the steering rack to bring the alignment back to factory specs. 4. It appears that the fuses and perhaps the fuel pump are defective, and that the locked steering led to the additional issues of the bent tie rod, steering rack and alignment, resulting in an unsafe and undrivable vehicle. 5. The vehicle and component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. The vehicle is routinely inspected by my regular mechanic on pre & post trip checks. 6. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The vehicle has had zero issues prior to this failure. 7. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. 8. For a vehicle that is less than 5 years old to suddenly and unexpectedly become inoperable resulted in a frightening and potentially fatal incident for which Nissan is responsible.

  • Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
  • Consequence: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
  • Remedy: Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available.     Be cautious when purchasing an NV200 cargo van. My experience, along with numerous other reviews on the internet, state that there are issues with regular tire wear and tread cross patterns. The tire cupping is blamed on the consumer, despite the known suspension issue. I have personally had to have the tire pressure sensor system worked on at least twice, and the dealer was supposed to have rotated the tires in January of 2017. I have also had bearing and axle work done on the front end. Despite trying to get the vehicle into the dealer for over four to five months, I am now being hit with a lot of vehicle repair costs. However, the vehicle is still under the 5-year, 100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and the tires are under the manufacturer warranty. The tire pressure sensor system has been recalibrated since January 2017, and the indicator has never gone off on the dash to advise me that the tires were low. Yet, when I took it into the dealer, they blamed the irregular tire wear on low pressure, which is the same diagnosis that is all over the internet from other customers writing negative reviews. Unfortunately, I am getting treated the same way from Nissan, who is trying to cover it up, and the dealer is trying to cover up their poor repairs. At this point, the vehicle has been left at the dealership, and I am investigating the lemon law in the state of Ohio.

They were unable to provide assistance. While this situation is frustrating, it is important to note that transmission failures can occur at any time. I will continue to explore my options for repair.

    It is very golf cart like but it get the job done. I have owned it for about a year and put 15000 miles on it. I carry about 400 lbs in the rear for work. No problem getting around with it loaded.The problem is the rear axle and tires. The camber is off on both side and it has chewed up the tires. there is no adjustment and the dealer says its in spec, and also that I need to replace the tires because they are chewed up. They want $200 ea for tires.

    I purchased an NV 200 in 2014 for a small business we were establishing and needed a vehicle for the purchase of raw material and transportation. Despite the engine appearing sufficient during the test drive, it has proven to have difficulty hauling cargo and the acceleration can be unsafe at times. Additionally, I have experienced significant tire wear after only 8000 miles and the replacement tires are quite expensive. Furthermore, I have encountered paint issues for which Nissan is unwilling to take responsibility, indicating that the van may have been touched up prior to my purchase. While the van does provide easy access and loading of cargo, its lack of engine power is a significant drawback.

    I purchased this van a few months ago and despite reading some negative reviews, I absolutely love it! It has ample space and I was able to fit everything from my previous Astro Van into this Nv200. Although it may not be the most high-end vehicle, I was able to purchase it at a great price and it fulfills all of my needs. While it may not be the fastest vehicle, it still goes as fast as I need it to and boasts excellent gas mileage. I even upgraded to aftermarket 16 inch wheels and Michelin Tires, which not only improved its performance but also gave it a sleek look. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and believe that if the factory offered normal tires and wheels, they would sell even more of these fantastic vans.

    The 2013 model has a short warranty of 3/36k, but the 2014 model and newer have a longer warranty of 6/100k. I recommend sticking with the 2014 model or newer for this reason. Otherwise, they seem to be identical. I have personally owned two of these vans and have found that if you follow the recommended tire rotations and alignments, the tires do not wear out quickly. It's worth noting that this van has a GVW of 4500lbs, which is fairly light. If you overload it, the rear end will squat and the tires will toe out and wear unevenly. There are only two types of tires available in the USA for this van, both from Nissan - one for winter and one for summer. I advise against going the aftermarket route as this van requires load rated C tires. However, both Nissan tires are actually rather good and not too expensive. I was in a serious accident with one of my two vans, and unfortunately, it was seriously damaged. However, the van protected us from what could have been serious injuries. I am now in the process of replacing the van and I must say, I love these NV's.

    The NV200 did everything a small cargo van should. It's easy to load with sliding doors on both sides and rear doors that open 180 degrees. The mileage was better than advertised. In my 4-1/2 years of operation, I haven't had any troubles.

    Drive one for delivering luggage. It's very easy to load and unload with sliding doors on both sides and back doors that are ample sized. With over 180,000 miles on the original engine, I replaced the rear wheel bearings and it was drastically quieter. It has many comforts and is very agile for narrow streets. However, the small diameter wheels make it jumpy at highway speeds. Overall, I am happy with it for business.
