- Summary: 1. On September 9, 2021, my 2016 NV 200 suddenly and unexpectedly broke down in Gila Bend AZ on a trip from the Bay Area to Austin to visit my grandchild. After refueling and pulling back onto the road towards the Interstate 8 on-ramp, the vehicle suddenly died. It was extremely difficult to steer it towards the side of the road and the ignition was inoperable. 2. I was unable to get the vehicle completely off the road and semi's were honking at me because I was dangerously in their path. There could easily have been a collision. I called 911 and the Arizona State Troopers pushed it all the way onto the shoulder. I then had it towed to the Tempe Nissan dealership 3. The problem was diagnosed by Tempe Nissan. It appeared that the cause of the breakdown was a blown fuel pump fuse. They also replaced the battery. They attempted to do a wheel alignment but could not because the inner tie rod was bent so they also replaced the steering rack to bring the alignment back to factory specs. 4. It appears that the fuses and perhaps the fuel pump are defective, and that the locked steering led to the additional issues of the bent tie rod, steering rack and alignment, resulting in an unsafe and undrivable vehicle. 5. The vehicle and component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. The vehicle is routinely inspected by my regular mechanic on pre & post trip checks. 6. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The vehicle has had zero issues prior to this failure. 7. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. 8. For a vehicle that is less than 5 years old to suddenly and unexpectedly become inoperable resulted in a frightening and potentially fatal incident for which Nissan is responsible.

(Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.

The NV200 did everything a small cargo van should. It's easy to load with sliding doors on both sides and rear doors that open 180 degrees. The mileage was better than advertised. In my 4-1/2 years of operation, I haven't had any troubles.

Drive one for delivering luggage. It's very easy to load and unload with sliding doors on both sides and back doors that are ample sized. With over 180,000 miles on the original engine, I replaced the rear wheel bearings and it was drastically quieter. It has many comforts and is very agile for narrow streets. However, the small diameter wheels make it jumpy at highway speeds. Overall, I am happy with it for business.

I recently looked at the new NV200 while my current one was being serviced. Although it was nice, it was basically unchanged. The retained value of the older model was shown to me, and I will be considering the dropping trade-in value and rising retail price when making my decision. However, my 2013 model is still meeting all my needs. Even with the fall 2018 additions, it is still the best option for my load and use. The only concerns I have are the reflection and position of the instrumentation, which can be dangerous as it takes my eyes off the road, and the audio drop out, which forces me to resync. Additionally, the 'butt locking' feature is inconvenient, and it still seems that the vehicle auto-locks overnight, but it may just be me. The age of my vehicle is prompting me to shop for a replacement, and I am certain that it will be an NV200 2018 update. I load and unload an average of four times each week and am getting older, so I appreciate the low loading deck every time. I had to add more cushioning for my passenger (wife), so I will be looking for a better passenger seat in the next NV200, and maybe even a single passenger seat since my load has room for that. After four years, I am still glad to have the NV200. The lowest floor height makes lifting and loading easy, especially for the elderly, which is why I purchased it exclusively for that feature. I can confirm that tire life is very short (20-23,000 miles), but there are tires by other brands that meet Nissan specs for less money. I paid an independent specialty alignment shop to electronically check the alignment and found, as others have, that there is a misalignment in the rear wheels, which is contributing to premature tire wear. I will address this with the Nissan dealership, but the specialty shop could not identify any means to adjust the rear alignment. I checked for a competitive brand to extend tire life, but nothing beats the loading height of the NV200. As a light load, low mileage user, I still know that for my needs, I can find nothing better! In an update, I added LEDs around the inside and tapped into the rear (small) interior light after loading in the dark forced me to use a head-mounted flashlight.It's something I should have recognized the shortcoming and had it professionally installed at purchase. Still, it's the best vehicle I've ever had to meet my needs. Even with Covid slowing down my use, I'm still completely satisfied with it after 12000 miles. I'm hoping the new European version will be available in the US for my next trade. Unfortunately, this model has been discontinued in the USA.

It is very golf cart like but it get the job done. I have owned it for about a year and put 15000 miles on it. I carry about 400 lbs in the rear for work. No problem getting around with it loaded.The problem is the rear axle and tires. The camber is off on both side and it has chewed up the tires. there is no adjustment and the dealer says its in spec, and also that I need to replace the tires because they are chewed up. They want $200 ea for tires.

I purchased an NV 200 in 2014 for a small business we were establishing and needed a vehicle for the purchase of raw material and transportation. Despite the engine appearing sufficient during the test drive, it has proven to have difficulty hauling cargo and the acceleration can be unsafe at times. Additionally, I have experienced significant tire wear after only 8000 miles and the replacement tires are quite expensive. Furthermore, I have encountered paint issues for which Nissan is unwilling to take responsibility, indicating that the van may have been touched up prior to my purchase. While the van does provide easy access and loading of cargo, its lack of engine power is a significant drawback.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share that I've been experiencing some issues with my nv200 tires. Specifically, I've noticed that the rear tires are wearing out much faster than expected. After visiting two different dealerships, they both confirmed that the rear axle is not aligned correctly. Unfortunately, despite this feedback and the numerous complaints on carcomplaints.com, Nissan has yet to address the issue. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my concerns.

I noticed a few areas where the NV200 could be improved. Firstly, it would be great if there was a window built into the back passenger side, not to open and close, but just to look through. This would make it a lot safer. Secondly, the gas gauge can be frustrating as it's difficult to tell when you're at the beginning of a bar or near the end. I prefer the old-style vertical, linear gauge. Thirdly, the spare tire should be inside the vehicle or have a lift-up at the end of the bed. I had it put inside so the tire guys wouldn't have to go to a lot of hassle to check it and put air in it. I don't use the air indicator at all because it flashes on and off like all the other lights. If something needs attention, that light should stay on. I just get the tires filled once a month, like usual. Lastly, there is very little room in the passenger seat and glove compartment, so it would be great if both had more space. It would also be helpful if the mileage showed tenths of a mile. I hope Nissan considers these improvements for future models of the NV200. I intend to buy a new one in a few years and would love to see these changes implemented.
