Nissan Armada 2011 problems
The Nissan Armada (retrospectively referred to unofficially as the Nissan Pathfinder Armada) is a full-size SUV manufactured by Nissan for the North American market. From 2003 to 2015, the first-generation Armada was assembled in Canton, Mississippi based on the Nissan Titan. From mid-2016 onwards, the second-generation Armada has been built in Yukuhashi, Kyushu, Japan and shares the same platform as the Nissan Patrol, with American-specific modifications, and went on sale in late mid-2016 as a 2017 model. A luxury version of the Armada has been sold as the Infiniti QX80 (originally QX56).
First generation (TA60; 2004)
The 2004 model Pathfinder Armada was unveiled on April 17, 2003, at the New York International Auto Show. Developed under Carlos Ghosn's NRP (Nissan Revival Plan), development was done in September 1999 to 2003 under lead designers Shiro Nakamura and Diane Allen and chief engineers Yuzo Sakita and Larry Dominique. In January 2001, a final exterior design by Giovanny Arroba had been approved by Sakita, Allen, Nakamura, and Nissan executive management, with the final design freeze being completed in July 2001. It is assigned the platform code TA60.
Prototypes based on the Y61 Patrol were hand-assembled as mules from 2001, with the first TA60-specific prototypes being completed and sent to testing in early 2002. Design patents were filed in 2003, with production starting on August 14, 2003, and going on sale on October 1, 2003.
The Armada had a 5.6 L VK56DE V8 engine that made 305 hp (227 kW) and 385 lb⋅ft (522 N⋅m) of torque. This was mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, and the Armada had a choice of either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. There are some Armadas that are capable of using E85. It has a towing capacity of up to 9,000 lb (4,000 kg).
The rear door handles are installed on the "C" pillar as part of a Nissan design tradition that started with the 1986 Nissan Pathfinder. When the four-door Pathfinder was introduced, Nissan chose to conceal the door handles as a part of the "C" pillar trim to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.
The switch to the Armada name occurred in September 2004 for the 2005 model year, where it received new badges without "Pathfinder." The 2005 model year also included a backup camera.

Common Nissan Armada 2011 problems
The 2011 Nissan Armada has been reported to have common problems related to the engine and brakes, which are crucial components of any vehicle.
One of the most common issues with the 2011 Nissan Armada is the exhaust manifold problem, which can lead to more severe engine problems if not addressed promptly. The exhaust manifold is a critical part of a vehicle's exhaust system, responsible for collecting exhaust gases from the engine's cylinders and directing them into the exhaust pipe. If the exhaust manifold is damaged or malfunctioning, it can cause a decrease in engine performance, increased emissions, and even engine failure.
Another common problem with the 2011 Nissan Armada is related to the brakes. Brake problems are a significant safety concern, and any issues with the brakes should be addressed immediately. Brake problems with the 2011 Armada include the emergency brake light being illuminated and refusing to go away, rough jerking, and rumbling. These issues can cause the brakes to malfunction, reducing the vehicle's stopping power and increasing the risk of accidents.
Interior accessory defects are also common in the 2011 Nissan Armada. These include CD player, speaker, and cabin air filter malfunctions. While not as severe as engine or brake problems, these issues can still be frustrating for drivers and passengers.
It is essential to address these common problems promptly to ensure the safety and reliability of the 2011 Nissan Armada. Regular maintenance and inspections can help identify and prevent these issues, and it is recommended to consult with a trusted mechanic or dealership for repairs.
In summary, the 2011 Nissan Armada has common problems related to the engine, brakes, and interior accessories. These issues can affect the safety and reliability of the vehicle, and it is essential to address them promptly to ensure the vehicle's proper functioning. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent these issues, and it is recommended to consult with a trusted mechanic or dealership for repairs.

SUSPENSION,WHEELS,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-02
- VIN: 5N1AA0NEXBN
- Components: SUSPENSION,WHEELS,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: The rear crossmember subframe on my vehicle is completely rusted out which caused serious suspension issue and cause the control arm to be in contact with the fuel tank. It didnt go through the tank because i found the issue on time and stopped driving the vehicle but it caused damage to the tank. If I didnt stop driving the car it was just a matter of time before the control arm perforated the tank, which could have been a lot worse with a risk of fire. This looks to be a common issue with Nissan cars so I’m not sure how there is no recall for it. I keep the vehicle maintained properly and bring it to the dealer for repairs. The dealer also performed a lot of work on the rear suspension of my car a couple of years ago but never mentioned anything to me about this major rust on the crossmember subframe.
STEERING,SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-02-01
- VIN: 5N1BA0ND3BN
- Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: My 2011 Nissan Armada started shaking very badly 8 months ago. Around that same time I had all 4 tires replaced. I took the car back to the place that put my new tires on (National Tire and Battery) and was told that the rack and pinion assembly needed to be replaced. They wanted $800-900 for the repair and to leave my car for 3 days which I could not do due to having only one vehicle. I took my car to a mechanic that dealt with electrical issues as well (Motions Automotive). They did what I felt like was a quick fix because the owner told the mechanic what he needed to do but the mechanic did a ride along with me, vocally stated what he wanted to do and reassured me he would do his best but the owner took precedence. Something was done to my air compressor(s) and it lasted a little over a week then went back to violently shaking every time I hit a bump or pot hole as well as the car taking a while to come to a complete stop. That happened from the beginning and I took it to the Nissan dealership twice and was told that’s normal. I have to stop far off from a stop sign or light to stop in time or just fly through. All of the recalls that the 2010 Armada has is all of the same issues I’m having which are very dangerous and life threatening. My suspension, rack and pinion, and brakes are all severely affected. I have 3 children and we love that car but as a single mother it fit my budget and family needs perfectly. I forgot to add that no warning lights are on nor were they ever on which worried me the most. I hope that someone can add the 2011 Nissan Armada to the 2010 Nissan Armada recalls. Thank you for your time!
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-12
- VIN: 5N1AA0NE1BN
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: On a short drive back home on a sunny warm day and was going relatively slow (~20 MPH) and tried to slow down to make a turn. The pedal went to the ground and braking was ineffective (slowed down 2 or 3 mph every time I hit the brakes). Seems like the ABS was kicking in, even though we were not sliding. I was just trying to slow down. I was finally able to slow down and stop the vehicle and I pulled off the side of the road to inspect. The "BRAKE" light was illuminated even though the parking brake was off, so I thought there must be a trouble code. I had my code reader with me. I read the code reported from the vehicle. Which was C1179, a malfunction with the delta sensor. I looked over the vehicle and brake fluid looked good. Brakes were not hot, no signs of any brake problems. I did not clear any codes or reset anything but the car drove normally the rest of the way home. No problems the next day either. This issue must be intermittent but it is scary. If these brakes had failed at a higher speed or on a mountain pass it could have been much worse!
VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-01
- VIN: 5N1AA0ND8BN
- Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: This is a structural issue. The panel on the side between the windshield and the front door windows are too wide. It causes a blindspot. If pedestrians are standing a just the right position of where this panel blocks the pedestrians can not be seen. Every time before turning I have to physically lean forward to lean back to see if someone is in the blindspot. On 3 occasions, I came very close to hitting pedestrians who were in the blindspot and I could not see. One of which were 3 people one being a child. I am not able to see them until I begin my turn and then have to slam on the brakes once they are in my view.

Took all day to repair. The airbag light is constantly on but there is nothing wrong with the air bag and has been reset but it stays on. The driver side window wont roll up half the time the electrical component has went out. Sometimes it rolls down by itself. Headlights have water in them and hard to keep out after replacing them. After only having it a few months had to replace the engine bc it kept smoking. Thank goodness for warranties and at 1st they wasnt going to replace it.

Before buying my SUV, I did a lot of research and looked into various options. Like another reviewer, I was not impressed with GM's prior SUVs and the fact that they required a bailout. However, at the Texas State Fair, I came across the 2010 Armada and was blown away by how awesome it looked. I ended up purchasing the Titanium package with DVD, which includes leather and many other upgrades over the base model, for a total price of 37.7k out the door. Thanks to Nissan's cash incentives, I was able to get a great deal. This SUV has Bluetooth for phones, an iPod jack, a DVD player with wireless headphones, backup sensors and camera, a road computer, and plenty of storage. Despite its weight, the acceleration, steering feel, handling, and braking are all impressive. It's truly an awesome vehicle!

I traded in my 2001 QX4 Infiniti for the FX35, but after a month, I realized it wasn't the right fit for me. Luckily, the staff at Sutherlin Nissan were incredibly helpful and worked with me to find the perfect vehicle. I ended up purchasing the Armada Platinum 4x4 and I couldn't be happier. It rides smoothly, is incredibly comfortable, and the gas costs are pretty much the same as my QX4 since I was using premium gas.
-
The Armada has been an excellent choice for our growing family, providing us with the space, comfort, and reliability we need. While we knew that the gas mileage would not be excellent when we purchased a large SUV, it has met our expectations. It's a small price to pay for the benefits it provides.
-
The vehicle is quite powerful, even when towing a significant load, and is overall enjoyable. The Platinum trim comes with all the extras you need. The only downside is that it may not be the most fuel-efficient option.

I've been eyeing the Armada for a while now, but I couldn't seem to find the right one. Plus, the thought of paying so much made me feel a bit guilty. Luckily, our local dealership finally got in the perfect one I had been waiting for. Although the sticker price was $52,250, I was able to negotiate it down to $44,000 (including tax, tag, title, and extended warranty). I absolutely love it and have no regrets. Despite being only 5'2

Hello there! I recently researched some issues with my Nissan Armada and found that some consumers have had some concerns. While there were some problems with transmissions, control arms, fuel pumps, exhaust issues/catalytic converter codes, AC pumps, DVD players, radios, and OS failures, I'm still hopeful that Nissan will continue to improve their vehicles. I did have some concerns about the black trucks with black interiors, but I'm sure Nissan has their reasons for producing them. While my previous Ford Expedition was more reliable and cost less to operate, I'm still happy with my Armada. I'm not a huge fan of the rear suspension, but I understand that it's an attempt to create a second layer of road shock absorption. Unfortunately, the execution of the idea could be improved. My radio has been a bit of a problem, but I'm sure it's just a programming issue. Overall, I've had a few annoyances, but I'm still satisfied with my Armada. Thanks for listening!
