2010 Nissan Armada problems
The Nissan Armada (retrospectively referred to unofficially as the Nissan Pathfinder Armada) is a full-size SUV manufactured by Nissan for the North American market. From 2003 to 2015, the first-generation Armada was assembled in Canton, Mississippi based on the Nissan Titan. From mid-2016 onwards, the second-generation Armada has been built in Yukuhashi, Kyushu, Japan and shares the same platform as the Nissan Patrol, with American-specific modifications, and went on sale in late mid-2016 as a 2017 model. A luxury version of the Armada has been sold as the Infiniti QX80 (originally QX56).
First generation (TA60; 2004)
The 2004 model Pathfinder Armada was unveiled on April 17, 2003, at the New York International Auto Show. Developed under Carlos Ghosn's NRP (Nissan Revival Plan), development was done in September 1999 to 2003 under lead designers Shiro Nakamura and Diane Allen and chief engineers Yuzo Sakita and Larry Dominique. In January 2001, a final exterior design by Giovanny Arroba had been approved by Sakita, Allen, Nakamura, and Nissan executive management, with the final design freeze being completed in July 2001. It is assigned the platform code TA60.
Prototypes based on the Y61 Patrol were hand-assembled as mules from 2001, with the first TA60-specific prototypes being completed and sent to testing in early 2002. Design patents were filed in 2003, with production starting on August 14, 2003, and going on sale on October 1, 2003.
The Armada had a 5.6 L VK56DE V8 engine that made 305 hp (227 kW) and 385 lb⋅ft (522 N⋅m) of torque. This was mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, and the Armada had a choice of either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. There are some Armadas that are capable of using E85. It has a towing capacity of up to 9,000 lb (4,000 kg).
The rear door handles are installed on the "C" pillar as part of a Nissan design tradition that started with the 1986 Nissan Pathfinder. When the four-door Pathfinder was introduced, Nissan chose to conceal the door handles as a part of the "C" pillar trim to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.
The switch to the Armada name occurred in September 2004 for the 2005 model year, where it received new badges without "Pathfinder." The 2005 model year also included a backup camera.

Common 2010 Nissan Armada problems
The Nissan Armada, a full-size SUV produced by Nissan, has been known to have several common problems across various model years. This article will focus on the 2010 Nissan Armada and its most frequently reported issues based on owner complaints.
- Failed Catalytic Converter: The catalytic converter's role is to reduce harmful emissions by filtering toxic byproducts from the exhaust gases, improving the vehicle's efficiency. In the 2010 Nissan Armada, a faulty fuel pump or oxygen sensor can cause the catalytic converter to fail, leading to the check engine warning light illuminating. Replacing the failed catalytic converter, fuel pump, or oxygen sensor should resolve the issue.
- Pulsating Brake Pads: Some Nissan Armada drivers have reported experiencing pulsating vibrations in the brake pedals or steering wheel during moderate and light braking. This issue has been noted in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2011 models. To fix this problem, all four brake rotors must be resurfaced or replaced, and updating the brake pads and other brake components is also required.
- Overhead Console Falls: The overhead console on the Nissan Armada is not designed to wear out, but the 2010 model has been reported to have issues with the console falling. This can be dangerous as it may startle drivers, potentially causing accidents due to the sudden shock and loss of concentration.
- Brake Problems: The 2010 Nissan Armada has had reports of unusual and noticeable looseness in the brake pedal, reducing braking force and increasing the risk of a crash. Nissan issued a recall for this issue, with dealers inspecting the brake pedal assembly and replacing the brake pedal assembly if necessary, free of charge.
- Airbag Cover Emblem Detachment: Nissan has also issued a recall for certain 2008-2011 Titan, Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada, and 2008-2009 Quest vehicles due to a potential issue with the resin emblem on the driver's airbag cover. The emblem may develop cracks and detach during airbag deployment, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
In conclusion, the 2010 Nissan Armada has several common problems, including a rusty engine harness, failed catalytic converter, pulsating brake pads, overhead console falls, and various recalls related to the brakes and airbag cover emblem. Owners of these vehicles should be aware of these issues and consider addressing them to ensure the safety and reliability of their vehicles.

How many miles will a 2010 Nissan Armada last?
On average, you can expect Armadas to survive around 300,000-400,000 miles. The more work you put into the car and the more careful you are with driving, the easier it will be to extend the lifespan far beyond what is expected.
What years did Nissan Armada have transmission problems?
On the 2004-2015 Nissan Armada, the OEM transmission cooler isn't able to remove enough heat from the ATF, which is the leading cause of damaged transmission bands, clutches, and torque converters.
Is Nissan Armada a good reliable vehicle?
Reports say that the Nissan Armada has average reliability. This vehicle still utilizes a V8 engine paired to 7-speed automatic transmission, therefore it is thirsty. One of its appeals is that is a low-cost alternative to the similar Infiniti QX80.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-24
- VIN: 5N1AA0NC0AN
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: We bought this Armada used about two years ago and it had about 85,000 miles on it then. On Monday August 26th 2024 my wife came home and as she pulled in to park the brake pedal went to the floor. The passenger side front steer tire inside was covered in brake fluid. I pulled it in to our garage and removed the tire and had her pump the brake pedal to find the fluid loss spot. Upon inspection I discovered the Steer tire had rubbed through the brake hose causing brake fluid loss. I replaced the hose and inspected the driver side to discover it was almost rubbed through to the cords inside the hose. It will be replaced too. I have saved the passenger side hose and will save the driver hose after I replace it. My pictures are of the passenger side front brake hose.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-11
- VIN: 5N1BA0ND4AN
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I had a sudden power lose with no warning while traveling down interstate at 70mph in "fast lane". I had no power and steering the vehicle to safety was a serious challenge. We were almost hit several time as I negotiated my way to the shoulder of the Interstate. I was scary and after almost being struck by passing vehicles, my wife actually got sick to her stomach. After avoiding accident's to pull off shoulder of the road I was not able to get the vehicle started. Upon being towed home I discovered the vehicle ran out of gas, although the gas gauge was showing 1/4 of tank. I went online and found there was a recall for Nissan Armada, 2005-2009 dated 3/18/2010 for the same exact issue (see NHTSA # 10V-074). Nissan did not correct the defect and there are numerous complaints of this dangerous issue with following year models. This issue is seriously dangerous and can lead to serious injury or death and a recall should be mandatory. I called Nissan but they refused to assist with repairs or recall. I had the fuel pump sending unit replaced at my expense and request Nissan reimburse me. This is not an issue due to age or mileage. This is a DESIGN FLAW that is wide spread and Nissan has failed to accept responsibility or notify owners of potential problem. Requesting NHTSA assistance and action to prevent injury or death to other Nissan owners. I also plan to speak with an attorney regarding possibility of a class action suit.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-01-04
- VIN: 5N1AA0NC1AN
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: IN JULY 2017 AND AT 90K MILES , MY 2010 NISSAN ARMADA BEGAN LEAKING EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN AND THE FUEL ECONOMY DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN SERVICE STATION, WHICH CHARGED ME $150 TO DIAGNOSE A CRACKED CATALYTIC CONVERTER EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON BOTH SIDES. THE REPAIR ESTIMATE WAS ABOUT $4,000 TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLDS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 80K MILES AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ARMADA AND TITAN MODELS. I SHOPPED AROUND FOR ESTIMATES AND HAD THE MANIFOLDS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS FOR A TOTAL COST OF $2,100 WITH A 2-YEAR/24K MILES WARRANTY. IN 2020 AND AT 125K MILES (3 YEARS/30K MILES LATER), THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AND THE SHOP WOULD NOT EXTEND THE WARRANTY. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT ESTIMATES THE REPAIR AT $5,000, AND THE INDEPENDENT SHOP ESTIMATES $1,900. ALL OF THE MECHANICS (INCLUDING THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP) HAVE ADVISED ME THAT THEY DON'T THINK THE CAR IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT AT 130K MILES CONSIDERING THE TRADE VALUE IS AROUND $5K. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS REPAIR TWICE IN 3 YEARS, AND I'M DRIVING MY FAMILY AROUND BREATHING IN CO FUMES THAT COULD HARM OR KILL US. I PRIMARILY USE THE VEHICLE FOR DAY-TO-DAY SUBURBAN DRIVING WITH OCCASIONAL CAMPING TRIPS - NO HARD OR OFF-ROAD USE. NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND REIMBURSE THE COST OF REPAIRS AS THIS IS A POTENTIALLY FATAL ISSUE FOR DRIVERS. I AM NOW FACED WITH A DECISION TO INVEST ALMOST HALF THE VALUE OF MY VEHICLE IN A REPAIR THAT MAY FAIL AGAIN, OR TO BUY A NEW CAR I CAN'T CURRENTLY AFFORD IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. PLEASE HOLD THE MANUFACTURER ACCOUNTABLE TO ITS US CUSTOMERS.

Positive 2010 Nissan Armada car reviews

I've had my Armada for almost 11 months and it has been exactly what I expected it to be. It's comfortable, safe, powerful, and very reliable. Given its massive size, it rides well and has a predictable steering response, making it easier to maneuver. The brakes feel strong and do a good job stopping without fading. What really won me over with this SUV compared to others is Nissan's 5.6 L engine, which is highly refined and, in my opinion, the best in its class. In fact, Japan issued an unofficial warranty on this power plant up to 250,000 miles and named it the

Before buying my SUV, I did a lot of research and looked into various options. Like another reviewer, I was not impressed with GM's prior SUVs and the fact that they required a bailout. However, at the Texas State Fair, I came across the 2010 Armada and was blown away by how awesome it looked. I ended up purchasing the Titanium package with DVD, which includes leather and many other upgrades over the base model, for a total price of 37.7k out the door. Thanks to Nissan's cash incentives, I was able to get a great deal. This SUV has Bluetooth for phones, an iPod jack, a DVD player with wireless headphones, backup sensors and camera, a road computer, and plenty of storage. Despite its weight, the acceleration, steering feel, handling, and braking are all impressive. It's truly an awesome vehicle!

I am confident that this car is a great ride. However, due to my poor eyesight, I have decided to sell it. Unfortunately, its width has become a challenge for me as I have no peripheral vision in my left eye.

I've always preferred SUVs over coupes and sedans. The 2010 Nissan Armada Titanium is perfect for me because it has enough space to fit my short, stocky stature and has the power to move through the busy NYC highways with ease. Recently, I drove from NYC to Woodbury (50-55 miles each way) and averaged 22-25 miles to the gallon round trip. While it's not the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the city, it's still better than most SUVs, and with a 28-gallon gas tank, I don't have to make as many trips to the station. The Armada also has a better top speed (140 mph) than most of its rivals in the class. It handles city potholes very well, and the seats are firm, which is a godsend when stuck in heavy traffic. As they say, 'once you drive a truck, you can never go back'!

Congratulations on your new purchase! It's great to hear that you haven't had any complaints so far, and it sounds like it's going to be perfect for towing your travel trailer. With the towing package and tow mode, you'll have no problem towing up to 9,000 lbs. It's also reassuring to know that you have a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty. The previous owner also invested $2,700.00 in parts and labor, including new tires, a headlight, cupholder, and evaporator, which is a great bonus. Enjoy your new vehicle and happy travels!

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the 2010 Armada. As someone who previously owned a 2006 model, I had high expectations for the newer version. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. While I appreciate the Platinum model's folding mirror option, I do wish it was available on the Titanium models as well. Additionally, I found the instrument cluster redesign to be a bit difficult to read, with the speedometer being off to the right. The Sound/Nav system could also use some improvement. After driving 3000 miles, I've noticed some sounds coming from the chassis when going over speed bumps, which is something I never experienced with my '06. The transmission also seems to make a more significant

Hello there! I recently researched some issues with my Nissan Armada and found that some consumers have had some concerns. While there were some problems with transmissions, control arms, fuel pumps, exhaust issues/catalytic converter codes, AC pumps, DVD players, radios, and OS failures, I'm still hopeful that Nissan will continue to improve their vehicles. I did have some concerns about the black trucks with black interiors, but I'm sure Nissan has their reasons for producing them. While my previous Ford Expedition was more reliable and cost less to operate, I'm still happy with my Armada. I'm not a huge fan of the rear suspension, but I understand that it's an attempt to create a second layer of road shock absorption. Unfortunately, the execution of the idea could be improved. My radio has been a bit of a problem, but I'm sure it's just a programming issue. Overall, I've had a few annoyances, but I'm still satisfied with my Armada. Thanks for listening!

I love almost everything about this product, but I have some concerns about the navigation, suspension, and the dark dashboard during daylight driving. Unfortunately, the suspension is not as smooth as I would like it to be, and I can feel every bump and pothole on the road. Additionally, the navigation system does not work while driving, which can be frustrating when trying to set up an address or entertain passengers. It requires you to stop, put the car in park, and engage the handbrake in order to operate. This can be inconvenient and potentially unsafe, especially when travelling with children. However, I still believe that this product is a great value for the money.
