2023 Mitsubishi Outlander problems
The Mitsubishi Outlander (Japanese: 三菱・アウトランダー, Hepburn: Mitsubishi Autorandā) is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors since 2001. It was originally known as the Mitsubishi Airtrek (Japanese: 三菱・エアトレック, Hepburn: Mitsubishi Eatorekku) when it was introduced in Japan.
The original Airtrek name was chosen to "describe the vehicle's ability to transport its passengers on adventure-packed journeys in a 'free-as-a-bird' manner", and was "coined from Air and Trek to express the idea of footloose, adventure-filled motoring pleasure." The Outlander nameplate which replaced it evoked a "feeling of journeying to distant, unexplored lands in search of adventure."
The second generation of the vehicle was introduced in 2006 and all markets including Japan adopted the Outlander name, although production of the older version continued in parallel. It was built on the company's GS platform, and used various engines developed by Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, and PSA Peugeot Citroën. PSA's Citroën C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007, which were manufactured by Mitsubishi in Japan, are badge engineered versions of the second generation Outlander. Global sales achieved the 1.5 million unit milestone in October 2016, 15 years after its market launch.
As part of the third generation line-up, Mitsubishi launched in January 2013 a plug-in hybrid model called Outlander PHEV. As of January 2022, global sales totaled about 300,000 units, and according to JATO Dynamics, the Outlander PHEV is the world's all-time best selling plug-in hybrid since December 2018. As of 2019, Europe is the leading market with over 126,000 units sold through January 2019, and the Outlander plug-in hybrid listed as Europe's best-selling plug-in hybrid car for five years running, 2015 to 2019.
The fourth-generation model was released 2021. Following Mitsubishi's entry to Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance, the fourth-generation Outlander is based on the Rogue/X-Trail, which is built on the CMF-CD platform.

After the police arrived and the car was towed, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company took title to the car. We were lucky to survive because the car ran into a cement wall from the sudden acceleration and went up into the trees and then backed down and hit the ground. There was a police report and the car was inspected by a manufacturer's representative. Earlier in the day there was a warning on the dashboard that said the vehicle needed maintenance. The "black box" of the car was analyzed by Bosche Co. But, we would like an independent agency to review the black box of the car and get an explanation as to why this possibly happened to us. The car has many safety features but nothing aided us in this particular instance.

When my wife was in school back in 2013, we bought an end-of-lease Outlander Sport. Despite having driven 120,000 miles, the car is still going strong, with the exception of a bad TMC module. Although it has loud road noise and bad acceleration, it managed to pull us through several snowstorms. Since we had such great luck with it, my wife wanted to get an Outlander. We've had the Outlander for several months now, and the only issue we've had so far was a faulty backup camera, which took a month to repair. The interior, ride, and acceleration are all a huge improvement over our old Sport. The lane assist works well, and the blind spot indicators are great (although I still double-check). The interior room is perfect for four adults, but the third row is useless in my opinion. I wish there was an option to have a full-size spare tire in the trunk. Whenever we go on long trips, we take the Outlander. From its looks to its comfort, it's honestly hard to beat for $30k.

I love my Outlander! Although I've always had Toyotas in the past, the redesign of this model really caught my attention. After test driving one, I decided to trade in my Toyota. The Outlander gave me a lot more tech and features than a new Toyota would at this price point. I'm happy to report that I haven't experienced any trouble with the vehicle shaking up and down at highway speeds.
-
Take the reviews with a grain of salt, but I must say that I really like my Outlander! Although the hood shakes in the wind, I was told that it's because it's made of aluminum. However, I've never felt like it will pop up, even though it happened to me on an old vehicle of mine. The acceleration is great compared to other SUVs in its class, which is one of the reasons why I bought it. While the android auto app is not the best and the remote start app is inconsistent, any other issues have been user-related and not an actual fault of the vehicle. It's always important to read your manuals, people! People always compliment how pretty she is, and I love all the features. I'm happy with my gas mileage, and my current best yet was 37.5 miles per gallon average. My goal is to beat that though! However, if it's under 45F, it has to be warmed up, or it runs at a high RPM and has terrible gas mileage and pick up. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. I got a nice vehicle for a good price, and I'm really glad I didn't go with some of the other SUVs, you know, the smaller ones with no pick up, like the one my mom owns.

I'm thrilled to share that this is my second Mitsubishi SUV! My first was a 2011 Endeavor and I absolutely loved it. So, when I was searching for a new ride this year, I knew I had to give Mitsubishi another look. Even though I've driven many different brands over the years (Audi, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, etc.), there's just something about Mitsubishi that always brings me back. The new 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander is no exception. The build quality is top-notch, the technology is impressive, and the luxury interior craftsmanship is simply outstanding. The design of both the interior and exterior is beautiful and eye-catching. For everyday driving, the normal driving mode is perfect, but if you need a little extra power, just switch to tarmac mode and feel the zoom! Plus, with wireless Apple CarPlay and charging, your daily commute will be a breeze. And let's not forget about the MiPilot self-driving feature on the SEL edition - it's a game-changer for long distance driving. The interior of this vehicle is truly remarkable in design, with soft touches and ultimate comfort. In fact, it's even more luxurious than some of the luxury brands I've owned in the past. Needless to say, I have absolutely no buyers remorse with this purchase!

I absolutely fell in love with this car as soon as I saw it online! Initially, I was considering the Hyundai Tucson, but this car stole my heart with its stunning exterior and interior. While I can't give it a full 5 stars just yet due to some hood shaking at high speeds, I've heard that there's a solution for it - installing weather stripping. I've already spoken to the dealer and am waiting for a call to schedule the installation. Once that's done, I'll be more than happy to give this car a glowing 5-star review!

I wasn't a fan of the ergonomics, center console layout, or steering wheel controls. However, the seat was comfortable and provided great support for long distance driving without causing any back pain, which is definitely worth a star. Of course, everyone's experience may differ. Unfortunately, I really disliked the cruise control. While driving up a mountain with four people and all of our luggage for the weekend, I found myself going ten mph under the set speed because the cruise control was already using maximum power and the engine couldn't maintain speed. On the other hand, while driving down the mountain, I looked down and realized I was going TWENTY!!!!! mph over the set speed. If you programmed the car to the speed limit and didn't keep a close eye on it, you could end up with a hefty speeding ticket. If you programmed it to go a little faster, you'd be taking a serious risk of being arrested for reckless driving, depending on its ability to maintain speed within an mph or two and the leniency of the local police.

Hi there! I hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to bring to your attention that I noticed a shaking hood on my new Mitsubishi after purchasing it. I think it would be great if Mitsubishi could address this issue as soon as possible. It can be quite scary and make you feel unsafe while driving. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Our 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL has been a great SUV for the price compared to others. However, I was disappointed to find out that the salesperson had misled me about a small piece on the hood that was causing vibrations. Unfortunately, this issue has affected many other consumers, and I will be joining a class action lawsuit against Mitsubishi. Additionally, within two months of purchasing the vehicle, we had to replace the driver side mirror and fix the AC, which was blowing hot air. Despite these setbacks, I remain confident in the overall quality of the Outlander.
Wilson Okuneva 2024-03-03
The styling and roomy interior are highly appreciated. However, it is worth noting that the hood may flex or move when driving at higher speeds. Additionally, the remote start app may not always be successful.
Rowland Ledner 2024-03-01
The Outlander is easy to drive and very comfortable. Although the initial reliability was disappointing, I have enjoyed my SUV since buying it new in April 2022. At that time, I paid MSRP, which was a fair price for a well-equipped vehicle, especially considering that most were at least 2K over MSRP. The first six months were a bit rough, but I have had no problems in the last 12 months. If that continues, I will improve my rating to 4 stars! I did have some issues with the cooling fan and AC in the first six months, but the dealer was able to fix them with a software update. I also had some interior trim issues, but those were resolved as well. Overall, I am happy with my Outlander and would recommend it to others.
