1995 Mitsubishi Diamante problems
The Mitsubishi Diamante is an automobile that was manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors from 1990 to 2005.
The first series was a hardtop introduced to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1989. It went on sale in Japan exclusively in May 1990 and won that year's Japan Car of the Year award. It was created by splicing an extra 6.6 cm (2.6 in) right down the middle of the Mitsubishi Galant, which itself had won the Japan Car of the Year award in 1987. The Diamante's platform was also used for the sporty Mitsubishi 3000GT.
The name Diamante was derived from the Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian word for "diamond" and was adopted also as homage to the Mitsubishi badge which is composed of three diamonds. In Japan, this vehicle was sold at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza.

I really love this car! It has all the amenities of a luxury car. I'm even thinking about buying another one for my brother or just to have two (they are really cheap if older than 1995!). Unfortunately, there are rumors that the Diamante will be discontinued in a couple of years. While I view the car as very reliable, I have had a few problems such as replacing the water pump ($700), CV shaft ($180), and alternator (rebuilt on eBay for $175, which I put in myself). The AC compressor squeals like hell, but I haven't fixed it yet ($???). I also broke off four or five lug bolts while changing tires (don't know why).

I've had this car for almost 2 years now and it was my first car when I got my learners. This is a perfect starter car for any new driver, super easy to learn on. In the past 2 years, the only serious problem I've had was having to replace the water pump, which turned out to be really expensive. Unfortunately, the AC just recently stopped working and I'm not really sure why. I've read other reviews and I'm hoping I'm not having the same problems as some. When I get to a certain speed, the car shakes and I have to let off the gas. Overall, this has been a great car, but it's almost time for a change.

The car was purchased as a program car 12 months ago with 20k miles. Although it chews up brakes and needs to be re-padded every 30-35k miles, we have had no other problems in nearly 140k miles. The engine runs at a high temperature (normal), so it is important to change the oil religiously to prevent buildup. Overall, this is an exceptionally engineered car. We have noticed a nominal hesitation in shifting out of first gear when cold at 138.5k miles, but it is not significant. We were able to get 65k miles out of our first two sets of tires. Both changes were done not because we were low on tread, but for an opportunistic sale at Pepboys. We could have gone another 10k+ miles both times.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I bought it with 70,000 miles and was told it would last into the 200,000's. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing some smoke out the back since hitting 126,000 miles. I've been told that I either need to put in a new engine ($3000+) or get a new car. While it was good, I absolutely loved it. It was definitely a gem of its time!

This car is a joy to drive, and it's also incredibly sexy!

Its a great car when everything works, but when it breaks down, watch out, parts are EXPENSIVE. And it depreciates like a ship sinking with full cargo.

Although I have experienced significant mechanical issues with my Mitsubishi, I have taken excellent care of it. Unfortunately, the motor, transmission, and compressor all failed, even though the warranty had just expired at 75,000 miles. Despite the expenses and heartache, I continued to drive it because it was paid for. However, it has spent a considerable amount of time in the shops. My brother also had a Mitsubishi and experienced similar issues, leading him to return it within a year. While I have shared my negative experiences with many people, I remain confident that Mitsubishi will address these issues and improve their vehicles in the future.

Although I miss my Monte for its beauty and comfort, it was unfortunately plagued with consistent issues. Over the course of two years, I spent over $5,000 on repairs. The car had multiple problems, including smoking out the back, oil leaks (even after being 'fixed'), high gas consumption (requiring refueling about three times a week), a faulty AC system (despite a brand new compressor), and a radio that required a dealership to input a code to turn on. I mistakenly entered the wrong code twice, resulting in a $300 charge for the correct numbers. The final straw was when the car sputtered and stalled while driving on I-95 at Okachobee, putting myself and my friend in danger. While the exterior was lovely, the car was not built to a high standard and proved to be too expensive to maintain.

The car has experienced several issues, including problems with the air conditioner, automatic climate control system, and door/window fit. Additionally, some plastic components in the interior, such as the cup holder, are of low quality and prone to breaking. These issues have required costly repairs.
