Common 2014 Kia Rio problems
The Kia Rio 2014 has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. One of the main issues is the clutch, which needed a replacement as the pedal was close to the ground
. This problem can lead to a significant cost for the owner, as it can range up to £2,000 if not covered by a warranty
Another common problem is the front radiator, which was leaking and required a replacement
. This issue can lead to engine overheating and severe damage if not addressed promptly.
The driver side folding mirror was also reported to have problems, as it wouldn't return back to its open state after closing it
. This issue can be a safety concern, as it can obstruct the driver's view while driving.
The radio antennae was also a problematic area for the Kia Rio 2014, as it tended to rust under the antennae on top of the car's roof
. This issue can lead to a loss of radio signal and a need for a replacement.
The EGR valve was another component that needed a brand new replacement in some Kia Rio 2014 models
. The EGR valve is responsible for reducing exhaust emissions, and its failure can lead to increased emissions and decreased fuel efficiency.
Lastly, the oil level sensor was reported to have issues, requiring a replacement in some Kia Rio 2014 models
. This issue can lead to inaccurate oil level readings and potential engine damage if not addressed promptly.
In addition to these issues, other common problems reported for the Kia Rio include a bumpy ride, illuminated ABS light, excessive vibration, engine misfire, fuel leak, noisy power steering, stalling, and headlight and brake light malfunction.
Overall, while the Kia Rio 2014 has been reported to have several common problems, many of them can be addressed with replacement parts or repairs covered under warranty. It is essential to stay up-to-date with regular maintenance and address any issues promptly to ensure the longevity and safety of the vehicle.

- Summary: Driving to work I exited US-26 in Hillsboro, Oregon at the 185th exit. The exit is an uphill ramp with a traffic signal at the top of the hill. The traffic signal at the end of the ramp was green. I was following a Tesla Model Y and I saw the brake lights activate. I applied my brakes causing my car to slow down and then I had to proceed through a yellow light because I did not think I could stop safely without ending in the intersection. At the next traffic signal, I rolled down my window and yelled to the other driver to not apply their brakes when they are proceeding uphill through a green light. The other driver told me it is "regenerative braking." Unnecessary braking causes disruptions in the flow of traffic. It does not make sense that brake lights would activate if the driver is not applying the brakes.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your Rio! It sounds like you've had a great experience with it so far. Even though the Eco feature was a bit of an adjustment, it's great to hear that you're finding it useful. It's also fantastic to hear that the car has plenty of pep and that it's spacious enough for you, even with your height. The folding side mirrors are a really nice touch, too. Overall, it sounds like Kia did an excellent job with this car. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

It's been a pleasant surprise to drive and it's really cute!

I've owned this car for 7 years and I can't say enough about how good it has been to me. Although I had to put some work into it due to issues with sensors and engine misfires, I'm still satisfied. The fixes were all fairly cheap. I recently upgraded to a 2018 Rio because my catalytic converter needs to be replaced. If it didn't, I would have driven it until the engine or transmission blew.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my 2013 LX+ hatch. It has been such a reliable car for me, especially during the brutal winters here in Saskatchewan. I purchased it in 2018 for $9,000 CAD with only 12,000km on it, and it even came with a brand new set of Nokian Hakk winter tires on rims ($1,200 value)! Since then, I have only had to do oil changes, which I do myself because it's so cheap and easy. The car is fully loaded with power everything, air, cruise, tilt/telescoping steering, heated front seats, and bluetooth. I have never experienced any oil leaks or usage. I highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable option. I'll be sure to update you when I hit 150,000km. Take care!

Your 2013 Kia Rio hatchback has been a great value for the price you paid. It has solid acceleration, good handling, and is comfortable for a subcompact. The storage is relatively spacious with rear seats down and gas mileage is decent, usually about 35 mpg highway. Although there are some negatives such as poor rear visibility and thin body panels that dent easily, overall it has been more than a decent car. You have comfortably and affordably driven it on long trips around the country. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

The car itself is average, but unfortunately I had a negative experience with the dealer service and quality. I visited three different Kia dealerships and was disappointed with the lack of customer service. Additionally, the battery that came with my car was incorrect and died after only two years. When I brought it to the attention of the dealer, they were unable to provide the correct battery.

The six-speed transmission has been known to have issues, including vibration at highway speeds in sixth gear. However, it is important to note that these issues are not present in all vehicles and can often be resolved through proper maintenance and repairs. While I have personally experienced some frustration with customer service, I believe that KIA is a reputable brand with many reliable models. It is always important to do your research and make an informed decision when purchasing a vehicle.

Hey there! When you're checking out the car, make sure it has a cruise feature and an adjustable front rider seat. It's also important to make sure it looks nice, but don't forget to check for those important features too!

My daughter recently purchased a Kia Rio, but unfortunately, we experienced a sidewall blowout and were surprised to find that there was no spare tire or jack included. Instead, there was only a small pump and some compound that was not suitable for repairing sidewall damage, which is the most common type of damage to modern radial tires. It was disappointing to learn that the salesman at Courtesy Kia (Henderson, NV) did not inform her of this. Additionally, it was frustrating to spend over an hour navigating the phone maze to reach roadside assistance, only to be told to purchase a new tire ourselves and wait for assistance to arrive. This situation is not only a rip-off, but also potentially dangerous, especially in Nevada where being stranded on a remote road in the summer heat could be life-threatening.
