2007 Mazda Mazda6 problems
The Mazda6 (known as the Mazda Atenza in Japan, derived from the Italian attenzione) is a mid-size sedan produced by Mazda since 2002, replacing the long-produced Capella/626.
The Mazda6 was marketed as the first example of the company's "Stylish, Insightful and Spirited" design philosophy, followed by the Mazda2 in December 2002, the RX-8 in August 2003, the Mazda3 in January 2004, the Mazda5 in the summer of 2005, the MX-5 in October 2005, and the CX-7 in November 2006. The 2003 Mazda6 is essentially the seventh-generation Mazda 626, part of the 'G' model code family.
First generation (GG1; 2002)
The first-generation Mazda6 was launched in Japan as the Mazda Atenza in May 2002. The model lineup consisted of a four-door sedan, a four-door hatchback and a five-door wagon, marketed in North America as the "Sport Sedan", "5-Door" and "Sport Wagon", respectively. In Australia, the lineup was first available in Limited trim, as a sedan; in Classic trim as sedan, hatch or wagon and in Luxury trim as a sedan and liftback — and Luxury Sports trim, as a liftback. In New Zealand, the lineup consisted of 2.0L GLX (sedan only), 2.3L GSX (sedan, liftback, and wagon), and 2.3L Limited (sedan and liftback).
The first generation was marketed as a 2003 model in the United States and as a 2004 model in Canada. In Europe, the luxury sports model was available as a 120 hp (89 kW) direct injection turbodiesel ("DITD") estate up until 2007. As of 2008, the European Mazda catalog listed only the "Sport" version of the 146 hp (109 kW) turbodiesel estate, while the "Luxury Sport" version had been dropped.
Drivetrain combinations included the Mazda MZR engine in configurations of 1.8 L (L8-DE), 2.0 L (LF-VE) and 2.3 L (L3-VE), initially with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission (with a sequential-automatic option, dubbed the "Four-Speed Sport AT"). In the US domestic market a 3.0 L Duratec 30 V6 engine was also available with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic (with a sequential-automatic option, dubbed the "5-Speed Sport AT"). European and Australian versions also feature a four-cylinder turbodiesel that comes with a six-speed manual transmission and produces significantly more torque than the V6, with much improved fuel economy.
In North America, the 5-speed automatic optional on the V6 models were replaced by an Aisin 6-speed automatic for the 2005 model year. The four-cylinder model received a Jatco five-speed automatic in the following year. Power was directed to the front wheels in most markets, although full-time all-wheel-drive models were available in Japan, Europe, and Australia. Not all configurations were available in all areas – for example, the Mazda 6 as released in Australia was available in 2.3L four-cylinder guise only, when the 626 it replaced had been available with a choice of four- or six-cylinder engines. The MZI V6 engine was only fitted to vehicles manufactured at Mazda's Flat Rock Assembly Plant and destined for the U.S. and Canadian domestic markets.
Mazda's Hofu Plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture produced the Mazda6 for international markets from February 2002 to August 2007. In North America, Mazda6 production was handled at the AutoAlliance International plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. The first Mazda6 rolled off the AAI assembly line on October 1, 2002, one month after 626 production ended. There are also satellite plants building Mazda6 models in China and Thailand for local markets.
In September 2005, the Mazda6 received a facelift which introduced 5-speed auto and 6-speed manual transmissions, standard 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels, and minor bodywork upgrades.
In China, the Mazda6 was introduced by FAW Mazda in 2003. Despite the release of its successors, the first generation car, known locally as the Maliu (马六, "Horse 6"), continues to be manufactured at FAW's Changchun plant, having sold over 770,000 units as of 2014. This model is also used as the base for the FAW Benteng, also known as Besturn B70 or Hongqi C301.

- VIN: 1YVHP81C175
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: TAKATA RECALL, OVER A YEAR AGO I DID HAVE A AIRBAG RECALL FOR MY INFLATOR , WHICH WAS FOR MY MAZDA 6 2007, I DID HAVE ONE OF THEM REPLACED, NOT SURE IF IT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE OR THE DRIVER SIDE NOW, BUT ONLY ONE WAS REPLACED AT THE TIME BECAUSE THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS RECALLED AT THAT TIME, THE DEALER TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OTHER SIDE TO BE RECALL, SO WHAT IF I HAD A ACCIDENT IN THE MEANTIME? THE OTHER AIRBAG WOULDN'T WORK, BECAUSE IT HADN'T BEEN REPLACED? NOT VERY GOOD! THE DEALER DIDN'T SEEM TO THRILLED WITH THE WHOLE INFLATOR RECALL THING AND DIDN'T HAVE VERY GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT IT, WHICH MADE ME WORRY ABOUT IF THE DARN THING WOULD WORK AT ALL! WELL NOT TOO LONG AFTER I GOT THE SECOND RECALL NOTE FOR THE OTHER SIDE INFLATOR TO BE FIXED I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT! GREAT! WELL, I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AT 70MPH, THE CAR WAS HIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND I WAS THROWN INTO A SPIN, NOW, I WAS NOT HIT IN THE FRONT, NOR DID I ACTUALLY HIT DEAD ON IN THE FRONT OF ANYTHING! BUT MY WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. MY RIGHT SIDE AIRBAG DID DEPLOY AND SAVE ME FROM A MASSIVE HEAD INJURY! THE CAR DID AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO IN A BACKEND COLLISION, IT FOLDED UP, THE BACK END TOOK THE BLUNT OF THE 70MPH FORCE, AND SAVED ME! I WALKED OUT OF THE CAR! BUT THE CAR WAS TOTALED! MY ONLY QUESTION AND IT WAS A QUESTION OF A FEW OTHER PEOPLE... WAS WHY DID NOT THE FRONT END AIR BAD DEPLOY? WAS IT NOT SUPPOSED TO? BECAUSE IT HAD NOT BEEN IT HIT HARD ENOUGH? OR BECAUSE IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED? NOT SURE? ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THANK GOODNESS IN A WAY I GOT HIT FROM BEHIND AND NOT IN THE FRONT, BECAUSE I AM NOT SO SURE IF I COULD OF DEPENDED ON THE FRONT AIRBAGS WORKING CORRECTLY! SO MY ACCIDENT MAY HAVE HAD A TOTALLY DIFFERENT OUTCOME!

2007 Mazda Mazda6 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 6 recalls for different components of the 2007 Mazda Mazda6.
- Manufacturer: Mazda North American Operations
- Park It: 1
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2003-2008 Mazda6, 2004-2005 MPV, 2004 RX-8, and 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6 vehicles. On July 9, 2019 this recall was expanded to include certain 2004-2011 RX-8 vehicles that were previously recalled under 16V-354 but have not yet been repaired. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these passenger air bag inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy is performed. Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge. The recall began July 6, 2018. Positive 2007 Mazda Mazda6 car reviews

This car is so much fun to drive! Before making the purchase, I did a lot of research and test drove almost all of the comparable sedans. I compared the Mazda 6 to the VW Passat, and I really feel they are quite similar in terms of ride and handling. For the money, I don't think there is a better deal out there. I have averaged 27 MPG in mixed driving situations, which is quite an improvement since I almost always drive Mopar/Chrysler/Dodge cars. I also appreciate the fact that the car is assembled in the USA by UAW workers. That was really the tipping point in my decision to purchase this over a Mazda 3 or some other sedan.
-
I've owned almost every type of foreign midsize sedan out there, but the Mazda 6 is by far my favorite. It's just so much fun to drive! Although, I must admit, my father's 350z is a close second.
-
This car rides great and gets decent gas mileage (ave 28 mph mixed) and has needed only standard maintenance. Solid ride with plenty of people and cargo space. The moon roof, heated seats, six disk CD player with controls on the steering wheel are a nice plus. Excellent reliability for a good price.

I have driven many vehicles and I must say that the Mazda 6 is one of the most enjoyable rides I have ever experienced! The use of space is perfect for me and everything is so user-friendly. If you are looking for a car to simply ride in, then you might want to consider other options, but if you are looking for a car that you will truly enjoy driving, then the Mazda 6 is definitely the one for you!

Hi there! I recently bought this car to replace my 2003 6s, which my brother now owns. I put 97,000 miles on it in just under 4 years, mostly on the highway. I absolutely loved the car! The 2007 model is as close a replacement as I could get, but if I could have gotten a new 2003 instead, I would have. I prefer the 16-inch wheels, the 5-speed automatic (the 6-speed downshifts at very modest hills and gets the same mileage), and some of the small amenities in the interior that have been dropped. The key/remote is way too big, but the smoother frequency response of the new speakers is a plus. However, I find the 6 CD changer to be a bit of a pain. All that said, I still love the car, just not as much as my 2003!

Hi there! I purchased my Mazda 6 about a year ago after reading many reviews. While I've enjoyed driving it, there are a few things I've noticed. Firstly, the road noise is quite noticeable. Secondly, I've found the car seats to be a bit uncomfortable. Lastly, while the interior is nice, it doesn't quite match the quality of Toyota or Honda. Unfortunately, I've had some trouble with the rims as well. The low profile style makes them more prone to bending or cracking, which has happened to me twice already. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably go with a Nissan, Honda, or Toyota instead. Thanks for listening!

I've been driving my Mazda6 Sport Value Edition hatchback for just over a year now and have already clocked up 25,000 miles. It's definitely a fun car to drive with plenty of pep. The car looks really cool and even when it's parked, it still looks like it's driving. However, I have found that the seats are not very comfortable for me and the blind spots are quite large, which can be a safety concern. Additionally, the turning radius is not great and the Michelin stock tires are not ideal for driving in the snow. Although I have driven rear-wheel drive cars in Minnesota winters before, I still find the tires to be a bit of a challenge. I do think that the TCS and ABS are probably good, but the tires let the car down. Overall, it's a really cool car and fun to drive, but there are a few negatives that make me hesitant to keep it for too much longer. The resale value is also not great, unfortunately.

Although we experienced some initial issues with our new Mazda 6, we have taken care of each one promptly and efficiently. We have replaced the dash and back seat, as well as the speakers, and have ensured that the oil levels are regularly checked and maintained. While we did encounter some engine rattling upon start-up, we have taken steps to address this issue. Despite these challenges, we remain confident in the quality of our Mazda 6 and are committed to its continued care and maintenance.

This car has required a significant amount of maintenance since we purchased it when it was 3 years old. In the past 5 years, we have replaced 2 batteries, 2 sets of tires, and had 2 complete brake jobs. Additionally, we had to overhaul the air conditioning system. Unfortunately, the engine recently failed due to a lack of oil, despite having had an oil change only 5,000 miles ago. The headlight mounts are also clouded over, making it unsafe to drive at night, and changing a lightbulb requires removing the entire front end. Despite these challenges, we are confident that we can find a solution to keep this car running smoothly.

This car may not be the best fit for everyone. While it may be ideal for teenagers, it may not be as comfortable for larger individuals. Additionally, some of the features, such as the red lights on the dash, may not be as practical for those with visual impairments. It's also important to note that the hook for hanging clothes is located too close to the driver's seat and may interfere with the airbag. Finally, the key may be a bit bulky and expensive to replace. However, it's important to consider all factors, including mileage, before making a decision. I will be looking to sell this car soon.
