2015 Lincoln Mkx problems
The Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company. Introduced in late 2006, the MKX ("X" stands for "crossover") is the first crossover SUV offered by the Lincoln brand. Initially the smallest Lincoln SUV, it has been slotted between the Lincoln Corsair and the Lincoln Aviator. It is the Lincoln counterpart of the Ford Edge crossover across both generations.
The first-generation MKX was produced from 2007 to 2015, based upon the CD3 platform. The second generation is based on the CD4 platform. Both generations of the MKX were manufactured at Oakville Assembly in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT.
As Lincoln phased out its use of "MK" model names, the MKX adopted the Lincoln Nautilus nameplate as part of a mid-cycle update in 2018 for the 2019 model year.

Common 2015 Lincoln Mkx problems
The 2015 Lincoln MKX is a luxury midsize SUV that has received generally positive reviews for its style, comfort, and fuel efficiency. However, like any vehicle, it has its fair share of problems. Here are some of the most common issues reported by owners of the 2015 Lincoln MKC, which is closely related to the MKX:
- Battery not keeping charge: Some owners of the 2015 Lincoln MKC have reported that their vehicle's battery does not keep a charge, especially if the vehicle is not driven for a few days. This issue can be caused by a faulty battery or a problem with the vehicle's electrical system. A certified mechanic can diagnose and fix the problem.
- Engine not starting: Another potential issue that owners of the 2015 Lincoln MKC have reported is engine not starting. If your engine isn't starting, there could be several causes. The most common is a dead battery. Check to make sure that your battery is fully charged and in good working condition.
- Transmission problems: Some owners of the 2015 Lincoln MKC have reported issues with their vehicle's transmission. One common problem is rough shifting, which can occur when the transmission is shifting gears, especially when accelerating or decelerating. It can also happen when the vehicle is idling. This can be caused by a number of factors, such as low transmission fluid, worn clutch plates, or a faulty solenoid. Another issue that some owners have reported is transmission slipping, which occurs when the transmission struggles to maintain the appropriate gear, causing the engine to rev higher than usual or the vehicle to lose power.
- Sirius radio problems: Some owners of the 2015 Lincoln MKC have reported issues with their Sirius radio system. These problems include difficulty receiving a signal, loss of signal, and intermittent signal drops. These issues may be caused by a variety of factors, including the placement of the vehicle's antenna, signal interference, or a malfunctioning radio unit. If you're experiencing problems with your Sirius radio system, it's recommended to have your vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic or SiriusXM customer support to determine the cause of the issue and potential solutions.
- Recalls: There are 8 active recalls related to the 2015 Lincoln MKC. These recalls include door latches that may break or not secure properly, seat belt buckles that may not latch or unlatch properly, engine block heaters that may overheat while plugged in, ignition switch that may be inadvertently pushed and shut off the engine, and fuel pump that may seize and cause a stall or no start condition. It's important to note that not all 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles are affected by these recalls. If you own a 2015 Lincoln MKC, you can check with your local dealer or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to see if your vehicle is included in any recalls.
In summary, the 2015 Lincoln MKX can be a good choice for those looking for a luxurious and fuel-efficient compact SUV, but it's important to consider the limited cargo space, small back seat, potentially expensive optional features, and mixed reliability ratings. It's recommended to do thorough research and take a test drive before making a final decision.

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-07-21
- VIN: 2LMDJ8JK1FB
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 90 A APPROX 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I LOOKED AT THE SPEEDOMETER AND IT READ 0. SECONDS LATER THE DASH POWER FLASHED AND WENT COMPLETELY DARK. I'M HAD ABSOLUTELY NO POWER AT 60MPH ON AN INTERSTATE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE ALONG AT MAKE IT TO THE NEXT EXIT AND STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE STOPPED, I TOOK GEAR OUT OF DRIVE AND PUT IT IN PARK. I PUSH THE START BUTTON AND IT STARTED UP. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME BUT I WAS COMPLETELY TERRIFIED THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. SOON AS I MADE IT HOME, I BEGAN RESEARCHING LINCOLN MKX TO SEE IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE. TO MY HORROR, MANY LINCOLN MKX OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS NO RECALLS LISTED ON MY VIN. THIS VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP AND LINCOLN NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY. POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-04-17
- VIN: 2LMDJ6JK5FB
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: CAR STALLS AND LOOSES POWER IN 5-10 SECONDS WHILE DRIVING. ONCE STOPPED, THE CAR WILL RESTART AND DRIVE. THE PROBLEM INDICATOR "YELLOW WRENCH" TELLS THE DEALERSHIP NOTHING RELATING TO THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS LIFE THREATENING BECAUSE IT OFTEN HAPPENS WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED (INTERSTATES) IN ENVIRONMENTS WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC. SINCE THE CAR BEGINS IMMEDIATE DECELERATION, GETTING TO SAFETY WITHOUT GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, IS FRIGHTENING AT BEST. ON WED, 4/17/19, I WAS TRAVELING ON I-40, 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC AT 5:05 P.M. (I WAS IN THE LEFTMOST LANE) AND MY CAR STALLED. BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE 2ND LANE FROM THE SHOULDER, I HAD ALMOST BEEN HIT BY A SPEEDING CAR AND AN 18-WHEELER. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ANY MOMENTUM TO GET OFF THE ROAD QUICKLY BECAUSE THE CAR HAD NO POWER. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM!!! I FOUND MANY REPORTS OF THE SAME THING OCCURRING IN LINCOLN MKX'S (PREDOMINANTLY 2016'S) THAT RELATE TO A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, NEED FOR UPDATED SOFTWARE, AND/OR THE PURGE BODY. LINCOLN INDICATES THEY CANNOT/WILL NOT FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET A MAINTENANCE CODE TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS. THIS SITUATION COULD EASILY COST LIVES UNNECESSARILY!! MY REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE ARE NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY (DEALERSHIP & LINCOLN FORD MOTOR COMPANY). SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED TO MY VIN, THEY ATTEST THERE IS NO ISSUE UNLESS I CAN PROVIDE IT. I CAN'T PROVE IT BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. THEY HAVE KEPT MY CAR FOR A WEEK AND DRIVE BUT COULDN'T REPLICATE. THERE NEEDS TO SOMETHING MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE THAT IS MANDATED TO BE DONE BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST. IT IS MY HOPE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ASSIST. THANK YOU.

- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: SHIFT CAR INTO "PARK" AND THE CAR IS CLEARLY IN PARK BUT ON THE DASH THE "P" DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHICH CAUSES AN ERROR MESSAGE OF "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK" WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF. IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF WHILE THE ERROR MESSAGE IS SHOWING, ALL AUXILIARY COMPONENTS (HEAT, RADIO, ETC) STAY ON AND YOUR BATTERY GOES DEAD. OCCURS NEARLY EVERY DAY, EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO "PARK".
POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-09-15

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-05-19
- VIN: 2LMDJ6JK8FB
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: WHILE DRIVING ON A HWY IN HOUSTON, TEXAS WITH NO OTHER VEHICLE AROUND ME UNEXPECTEDLY THE REAR SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED ALONG THE FRONT EDGE. THERE'S AN INSURMOUNTABLE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE FOR LINCOLN AND FORD AND YOU CAN CHECK AT HTTP://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T37305_DS520649. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE PIECES OF GLASS FALL INSIDE THE CAR AND CAN HARM OCCUPANTS. I TRIED TO REASON WITH LINCOLN CORPORATION WITHOUT SUCCESS. THEY CLAIMED THAT AN OBJECT HIT THE GLASS BUT IF THE GLASS IS CLOSED, IS FLAT AND THERE'S NO WAY AN OBJECT CAN HIT IT. I WISH I COULD SEND PICTURES BUT HAVE NO WAY OF DOING SO UNLESS I HAVE A VALID EMAIL.

Hey there! Your vehicle is performing solidly with only a few problems.

The vehicle is a great ride, but I would love to have a digital speed indicator.

Hi there! I'm glad to hear that you bought the 2013 MKX FWD in 2017 with 31,000 miles on it. Although there were a few electrical bugs with the tailgate, sensors, and key not detected, it's great that they were fixed by putting in a new battery while it was still under warranty. The gas mileage is decent, averaging 22mpg. It's wonderful to hear that this car gets you where you need to go and is comfortable on road trips and driving in town. The size is just right for three kids, two dogs, and you, and you even hauled a love seat in the back once! The comfortable ride, simple technology, and heated and A/C seats are definitely pros. The only con for you has been the lackluster performance in snow, even with brand new tires. Other than that, your MKX hasn't been overly problematic regarding electronics. It's great that it will be paid off next month and with 87,000 miles, you are hopeful to get another 2-3 years out of it before trading in for a newer vehicle. Maybe another MKX but you'll probably go hybrid or electric next. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

The MKX is a fantastic luxury car with great pick up and unbeatable comfort. While I have thoroughly enjoyed my 2013 model, I have noticed that the sound system is not up to par with the car's price. Despite mentioning this issue during service appointments, I have been told that the system works fine, but in reality, it sounds tinny and the surround sound is not impressive. Although I am aware that the 2016 model has a new sound system, I still believe that the sound quality of the 2013 model could have been better.

We have owned three MKXs, the 2007, 2009, and 2013 models. The 2013 model is by far the most luxurious, with upgraded features such as My Lincoln Touch, which is a significant improvement over the first generation in my 2011 Ford Explorer. The 3.7 V6 engine in our AWD model is impressively quick, and the ride is soft and smooth, emphasizing the luxury experience. Compared to our friends' Lexus RX 350 and Cadillac SRX, our MKX is not only quicker and rides better, but it also exudes a more elegant feel!

Leasing a car from Lincoln may not be the best option. It's important to note that at the end of your lease, Lincoln may require you to return the car to a Lincoln dealer or to yourself as the lessee. I recently had an experience where I wanted to trade in my leased Lincoln for a Cadillac, but unfortunately, the dealership was not able to purchase the car due to these restrictions. Although this resulted in some inconvenience, I was able to find a solution that worked for me. If you're considering leasing from Lincoln, it's important to be aware of these limitations and plan accordingly.

I noticed that there has been a lot of excitement surrounding Ford's comeback, but I personally found the Lincoln MKX to be a bit underwhelming when compared to the Chevy Traverse LTZ. It seems to lack some of the finesse in features, and even the 'Premier' package falls short in comparison. Although the Lincoln is priced higher, I don't believe it's worth it. For example, it doesn't have folding side mirrors, the second seat isn't adjustable, and there's no key memory for seat positions. Additionally, it has less cargo space, and the electric seats lack adjustable features when compared to GM's. The engine is also lackluster, and the gas mileage is poor. There are certainly other areas where the Lincoln falls short in comparison. However, I understand that everyone has different preferences and priorities when it comes to choosing a vehicle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my MKX, which I've only had for seven months. Unfortunately, I've noticed some rust on it, even though I have a warranty and anti-rust package. I reached out to Ford for help, but I haven't received the assistance I was hoping for. If you also have this vehicle, I recommend checking for any similar issues just to be safe. It's always better to be proactive than reactive!

I recently had an issue with my Lincoln where I lost the key fob and unfortunately, it had to be programmed by the dealer. This was a bit of a hassle and cost me more than I expected. In comparison, when I lost the key fob for my Corvette, I was able to get it replaced by a locksmith for around $150. Despite this experience, I still appreciate the luxury of a high-end SUV and would recommend exploring other options in this category for better support.
