2013 Lincoln Mkt problems
The Lincoln MKT is a full-size luxury crossover SUV with 3-row seating that was marketed by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company; a single generation was produced from the 2010 to the 2019 model years. Slotted between the Lincoln MKX (renamed the Lincoln Nautilus) and the Lincoln Navigator, the MKT shared its Ford D4 chassis with the Ford Flex CUV and the 2011-2019 Ford Explorer.
While the MKT had no direct Lincoln predecessor, its introduction coincided with the discontinuation of the Mercury Mountaineer (based on the Ford Explorer); a livery variant of the MKT continued the use of the Lincoln Town Car name.
After the 2019 model year, Ford ended the use of its D3/D4 chassis, discontinuing the MKT and counterparts. Within the Lincoln model range, the MKT was not directly replaced, but the second-generation Lincoln Aviator is a 3-row Lincoln CUV. It is mid-size and slotted between the Nautilus and Navigator.
Throughout its production, the MKT was assembled by Ford of Canada at its Oakville Assembly facility at Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

- Summary: While traveling out of state, the latch on the passenger’s side door would not latch. Doing a quick google search, we found that in 2015 and 2020a recall was issued for a broken pawl spring tab. We did not own the car in 2015 and never received a notice for 2020. Since the door was unable to latch, I had to physically hold door while my husband drove down the interstate. We contacted our local Lincoln dealership and scheduled an appointment to be inspected. We were advised that we would have to pay for the repairs and to contact Ford. Ford was contacted and advised that the extended warranty had expired and they were not responsible. We never received a recall notice. We have appt October 8 with Lincoln dealership to be repaired since you’re unable to drive car without door flying open.

- Summary: I was driving and the power steering went out while driving. The power steering warning light came on as the steering went out. It was extremely difficult to steer the car. I was fortunate to keep my car under control and stop. Upon investigating how to fix the issue, I discovered the power steering in this vehicle is "electric power steering" thus no way for me to fix it by adding fluid, etc. I was away from home and found an independent garage which told me this seems to be a common problem in this year vehicle and that I had to take it to a Ford Dealership for repair. Upon investigating there are many complaints of this occurring in Lincoln MKT cars. I called Ford Motor Company and there has been no action by the company to alert owners of this and to fix it. This could have had serious consequences because it occurred while the car was in motion.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-21
- VIN: 2LMHJ5AT0DB
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: For a number of years, since purchasing vehicle new, the "Power Steering Assist Fault" light would come on upon engine startup. The MKT had only about 20,000 miles on it. I had NO POWER STEERING. Per different Lincoln mechanics, the "remedy" was to turn the car off & then restart it to clear light & restore power steering. This worked every time until this past week when after several attempts resulted in still NO POWER STEERING. I was forced to drive for 3 hrs back home with No Power Steering. I've called (2) two different Lincoln dealerships, only to be told this isn't covered under recall R15S18 & would cost approx $3,000 to repair. Why wasn't this VIN# part of the Recall? I called Ford/Lincoln & was told NHTSA decides which vehicle VIN#s are recalled, BUT, when I called NHTSA they told me specific Vehicle VIN# Recalls are designated by the Manf'r. WHAT?? NHTSA told me specific paperwork is on the site stated Manf'r responsibilty on VIN# Recalls. This Steering Problem should be repaired by Lincoln at NO Charge ! As a side note, I have NEVER received a Recall Notice on any item listed on the NHTSA site related to my 2013 Lincoln MKT, nor can I find a copy of a Recall notice specifically for a 2013 Lincoln MKT on the NHTSA website. Even though the 2013 MKT is listed on the actual Ford/Lincoln Recall Notice #, letters are only addressed to other Ford/Lincoln models

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-09-02
- VIN: 2LMHJ5AT4DB
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The power steering assist failure began showing up as warning light when started and power steering failed. Restarting the car removed the warning light and the power steering worked again. The restart failed to clear the problem last week and I brought the vehicle into the dealership. I had found on several sites that vehicle in question is included in a Ford recall along with several other vehicle years, makes and models. Specifically, my car is sited stating 2011 to 2015 Lincoln MKT with any engine. The recall calls for replace the steering box and the assist control modular depending on the code the service person found. If the code showed differently, than a reset is to be preformed. Both of these at no charge to the owner. I advised the dealer of these sites that showed the recall. Ford has denied my VIN Number as being included in the recall. This comes despite the part that has failed is the exact same part described in the recall. The dealer states the repair will cost $3,200. Lincoln has expressed no concern that should the repair be unaffordable to owners the vehicles with this failure the vehicle is drivable, however without power steering a major safety issue is born. Lincoln claims only the part that was made in a certain plant will be covered. I understand them wanting to limit their damages by saying parts made by whoever their agent was for that group of parts have a defect and therefore the recall is limited to those with parts made by that agent. It would seem prudent if not just obvious if failures occur beyond cars with parts from the plant they have restricted the recall, that it be opened to all the parts made by any agent. Its easy to think that its not the way the part was made but the fail lies in the design or use of the part. And therefore the car manufacture is responsible for any vehicle that had the identical sister to the recall part installed. This is a matter of geographic part plant locations and not limited isolated failures.

Completely happy at 55000 miles. The service has been great and the warranty is excellent. It rides like a dream!

What a great car! It's so comfortable and has plenty of power. I'm amazed at how well it drives and accelerates. Plus, there's so much space to carry cargo or people. Even the gas mileage is pretty good if you don't go heavy on the pedal! I have almost 160,000 miles on it and, while I've had to make a few repairs, it's going to be hard to replace this comfortable ride. I would love another Lincoln, but the price is a bit of a problem. And let's not forget about the 3.7 6 cylinder engine - it's really spoiled me!

Overall, I am really happy with this vehicle. Mine is a fully loaded EcoBoost. Although I wish the gas mileage was a bit better, the vehicle has great power and refinement.

I love the unique styling of this car! It's great to have a car that stands out from the crowd. I did some comparisons with other cars like the Audi Q7, Acura MDX, BMW X5 and Buick Enclave, but none of them had the amazing features that this car has, like heated and cooled front and 2nd row seats, a fridge/freezer between the 2nd row seats, power fold 2nd and 3rd row seats, and top-notch safety features. It's definitely worth the money, especially when compared to the Ford Flex (the box). The interior quality is simply unmatched!

I shopped for a long time for a car and had never even heard of this model. However, on the day I went to close the deal on an MKX, I saw an MKT in the lot and was initially hesitant due to its appearance. But upon looking inside, I was pleasantly surprised by the luxurious look I was seeking. Once I test drove it, I was sold. The ride was quiet and comfortable, with good sound quality and nice features. It wasn't too much of a departure from my Explorer, but it was a huge step up to the luxury vehicle I desired. I absolutely love this car and affectionately refer to it as the Patmobile. Like me, it's big, classy, and unique, and I rarely see another one on the road.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share our experience with the MKT so far. Unfortunately, we've had some trouble getting it started and had to have it towed to the dealer after only 300 miles. It was a bit frustrating to have to make several phone calls and wait three days for a loaner car, but we're hopeful that the dealer will be able to resolve the issue. We haven't heard back from them yet, but we're staying positive. We did want to mention that we've heard about some ignition problems with the new model, so it's definitely something to ask about if you're considering purchasing one. Overall, we think it has the potential to be a great car, but we're still waiting to see how it performs once we can actually drive it. Thanks for listening!

I had an issue with my Ford/Lincoln engine and was fortunate enough to have a compassionate and concerned Ford representative who called me at least twice a week until the engine was replaced. I give her 10 stars! The MKT is now running great. However, I did not receive any follow-up from Holman Lincoln dealer after the installation of the engine. Currently, the car is in the shop to replace parts for steering and new tires as the old ones are worn out. The car has only 109,000 miles on it and the tires are only 3 years old. In February 2020, after owning Lincolns for 35 years, I have decided to switch to the Lexus brand. I have pumped over 8 gallons from the passenger side of my 2010 MKT and have tried to fix the issue by putting new seals and cleaning out the vents beneath the windshield wipers. However, the Lincoln dealer wants to charge me about $165.00 just to check it. Although Lincoln paid for the engine, I still had to pay $5000.00 for installation. I am looking forward to getting rid of my 2010 MKT and switching to Lexus when the economy bounces back.

I bought this car seven years ago and it has been a great companion. However, over time, some issues arose such as the auto park, tilt and extend steering wheel, auto climate control mixing valve, rear main outer wheel bearing, and clogged sunroof weep holes that filled both front floors with water. The exhaust also needed to be replaced from converters back. Unfortunately, the engine failed due to a water pump failure that was inside the engine and was deemed unusable. Despite these issues, I loved the car and followed all maintenance checklists and recommended services. I had items repaired as they stopped working, except for the engine. Eventually, I had to give up on the car. 😥😟😩

Although I take responsibility for purchasing this car, I must express my disappointment with it. The car's narrow design makes it uncomfortable for long trips, and the two-zone comfort system is not as advertised, with only one fan. Additionally, the safety system's beeping and on-screen messages can be distracting. The car also has some design flaws, such as whistling in windy conditions or when passed by other vehicles. Overall, these issues detract from the car's quality and usability.
