2015 Lincoln Mkt problems
The Lincoln MKT is a full-size luxury crossover SUV with 3-row seating that was marketed by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company; a single generation was produced from the 2010 to the 2019 model years. Slotted between the Lincoln MKX (renamed the Lincoln Nautilus) and the Lincoln Navigator, the MKT shared its Ford D4 chassis with the Ford Flex CUV and the 2011-2019 Ford Explorer.
While the MKT had no direct Lincoln predecessor, its introduction coincided with the discontinuation of the Mercury Mountaineer (based on the Ford Explorer); a livery variant of the MKT continued the use of the Lincoln Town Car name.
After the 2019 model year, Ford ended the use of its D3/D4 chassis, discontinuing the MKT and counterparts. Within the Lincoln model range, the MKT was not directly replaced, but the second-generation Lincoln Aviator is a 3-row Lincoln CUV. It is mid-size and slotted between the Nautilus and Navigator.
Throughout its production, the MKT was assembled by Ford of Canada at its Oakville Assembly facility at Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

- Summary: 2015 LINCOLN MKT HAS HAD TWO FORWARD SUNROOFS SHATTER SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JULY OF 2017. THE FIRST OCCURRED WHEN A STONE KICKED FROM A TRUCK TIRE STRUCK IT. BUT THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED WITH NO SUCH TRAFFIC AROUND MY VEHICLE. THE GLASS SHATTERED AS I HEARD TWO LOUD CRACKS WITHIN ABOUT 5 SECONDS OF ONE ANOTHER. AGAIN, I OBSERVED NO TRAFFIC THAT WOULD LIKELY BE THE SOURCE OF A THROWN STONE, AND INDEED, OBSERVED NO OBJECTS INBOUND TO STRIKE MY VEHICLE. THE NATURE OF THE SECOND SUN ROOF'S BREAK LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A SEVERE DEFECT IN THE REPLACEMENT SUN ROOF (PRESUMABLY SOURCED FROM FORD/LINCOLN, GIVEN IT'S EXPENSE AND THE TIME REQUIRED TO ACQUIRE IT).

My Lincoln MKT w/ecoboost is one of the best running and most comfortable cars I have owned. I would purchase another if the model had not been discontinued. It is comfortable, quiet, drives well, and looks good! And it is roomy for when the grandkids travel with us. Negatives are cheap plastic on door interiors, and dash, and a recurrent problem with the heater failing which Ford at first did not want to fix as it was only happening occasionally! I get 19 mpg around town, and 24 on the highway with a decent powerful V-6 that runs fine on regular unleaded fuel.

It sounds like you have a great car that meets all of your wife's needs! The AWD works great and the Ecoboost V6 is very powerful, making the car fast and efficient. It's great to hear that it handles well on country roads and that you haven't had any major issues with it. It's understandable that your wife wishes they still made them. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

I was initially considering the Land Rover RR Sport, but I found that the MKT was a great alternative. It's an elegant car that comes packed with technology, including adaptive cruise and cooled seats both in the front and rear. I really like the style of the car, as it's elegant and stands out. I'm not sure why critics don't like the styling. Although some elements reveal that the platform is based on a family car, such as the old-fashioned foot-operated parking brake and the lack of front parking sensors even on the top-level model, the car still has great power with its 365 hp V6 engine. The interior style with two rows of bucket seats is also great.

I have no regrets with this vehicle because it is a Lincoln, which possesses the heritage of the brand, but with the creativity of 21st Century thinking. I love the leather cabin and the out-of-the-box styling, it's like a plane flight on the ground. The MKT Lincoln has steering shifters with a semi-manual/full automatic feature, which is wonderful when you need a burst of performance when passing in traffic. As for its styling, the 1939's attributes are pure American, not Japanese or Chinese as many lost souls love to follow. The MKT styling is attributed to pure USA motoring of the 1930s. Note the prominent split ventilating front grill design and wagon/caboose liftgate - pure American. Everywhere I go, whether it's work, church or play, this crossover turns heads and the compliments have not stopped. I am an LMC fan and my next vehicle will be the SVC by Lincoln. I am a supporter of the Ford Motor Company. I know this is a bad word among those that swear their life upon anything other than American cars, trucks or SUV's, but if you don't stand for American, you'll stand for anything.

Hi there! I just wanted to share that we've had a really positive experience with our car. We often get compliments on how sleek it looks, and people are surprised to hear that it's actually quite affordable. We've put 45,000 miles on it and have only had to take it to the shop once for a sunroof issue that was covered under warranty. We did need to replace the battery and tires, but that's to be expected with any car. We opted for the Turbo and it's definitely quick! Overall, we think it's a great car.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I understand that you were looking for a vehicle with seven passenger seating and didn't want a minivan. From what you've shared, it sounds like you've done your research and test drove a few different options. It's great to hear that the J35 had good handling, but I understand that it may have felt underpowered. It seems like you found a good balance between ride and handling, although there was a slight tin can feel. Unfortunately, the gas mileage wasn't great and there were some issues with the power seats. On the bright side, the third row had plenty of leg room, although the head clearance was under 5 feet. Overall, it sounds like you found a vehicle with good utility, aside from the third row leg room. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

This car had numerous repairs under the extended warranty, including a new steering gear, 3 control arm replacements, rear seal replacement, adaptive cruise control replacement, and fixing numerous rattles. Although it rides very hard on rougher roads, the performance on acceleration is good and it is a smooth ride on good roads. The front seats are not comfortable due to a platform directly under your feet that does not allow you to place your feet flat on the floor. However, there is lots of room for storage. While the residual value is not high, this car is still a good investment due to its smooth ride and good performance.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share our experience with the MKT. Unfortunately, we've had some trouble getting it started - it was towed to the dealer after only 300 miles. It took a few days and some phone calls to get a loaner, but we're hoping to get our new MKT back soon. We've had some trouble getting in touch with the dealer, but we're optimistic that everything will be sorted out soon. We did want to mention that there have been some ignition problems with the new model, so it's definitely worth asking about. Overall, we think it's a great car - we just wish we could drive it more! Take care.

I bought this car seven years ago and it has been a great companion. However, over time, some issues arose such as the auto park, tilt and extend steering wheel, auto climate control mixing valve, rear main outer wheel bearing, and clogged sunroof weep holes that filled both front floors with water. The exhaust also needed to be replaced from converters back. Unfortunately, the engine failed due to a water pump failure that was inside the engine and was deemed unusable. Despite these issues, I loved the car and followed all maintenance checklists and recommended services. I had items repaired as they stopped working, except for the engine. Eventually, I had to give up on the car. 😥😟😩

The car is comfortable, roomy, quiet, and powerful enough when needed with the Ecoboost. Personally, I left a Ford Flex for it, so the styling is not an issue for me. Actually, I like both. However, I understand that some owners have experienced issues with the light cluster that covers the width of the tailgate, which is known to take water and mess with the electrical of your lights and back-up camera. The climate control may also act up and go to high on its own. While these issues are disappointing, Lincoln does not recognize them past the warranty and offers no good-will program or help. Despite these issues, I still believe that Lincoln is a great brand and I hope they will address these concerns in the future. For now, I am still considering the Aviator for next year. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
