- Summary: * Our 2008 Lexus RX 350 dashboard is cracking: areas of safety concern are the cracks around the ignition switch, the air bags, and the instrument panel. * There are cracks all around the ignition switch which places it in jeopardy of malfunctioning to include releasing dangerous fumes and dangerous fragments (scrapnel), and/or falling out. * The air bags are a grave concern as they may not deploy due to the cracks in the dashboard. * The instrument panel has a backup camera that may also be negatively impacted. There was a safety recall on these dashboards, and Lexus claimed that they were waiting on parts and that we would be contacted. We were never contacted by Lexus, and when we contacted them on several occasions, Lexus told us that they were not going to replace the dashboard. The cracks in my dashboard are extremely serious concerns for my family's safety, which is why this vehicle is only used if there's an in an emergency due to the safety concerns. We live in south Georgia, and the dashboard began cracking / melting as a result of heat and humidity. Lexus has refused to honor the agreement that it made in accordance with its "Warranty Enhancement Program." AIR BAGS PROBLEM

- VIN: 2T2HK31U18C
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Complaint Details I had a recently cracked dashboard in my 2008 Lexus RX350. It was cracked over the entire dashboard. I knew of the warranty extension recall of this as to my letter I recieved in 2016. I took it in for service for this and of course at the time my dashboard was looked at had a tiny crack. And they pretty much said owell.. Of course now in 2023 it has been cracking for almost 2 years. I tolerated until I was told it's a safety issue if I were in a accident that the airbags deployed it could shatter all over in a million pieces. I'm disabled and elderly and don't need anymore problems. So I took it in to have it replaced and 2622.08 later to have it replaced. That's with a discount from the dealership. Are you kidding me Lexus??? I had it immediately replaced when I found out it was a big safety concern. Shame on Lexus saying it's a cosmetic problem and not covered. I spoke to Corporate and they told me they won't do anything for me and there's no higher ups and they won't refund my money. Shame on you. I'm demanding a full refund. This needs to be corrected for the cars out there that are still experiencing this problem. My dealership told me they had more cars coming in for the same repair. Sounds alot like Lexus is getting richer on an 800 dollar part. Don't even tell me it's labor intensified. My car was done is 2 hours. I will if I have to get a class action lawsuit if I don't get my refund. Just terrible to play around with people's safety!!! I have attached my letter and another attachment about safety. I also have my warranty paper they sent but can't upload it.

- Summary: My daughter was driving on the Freeway and the vehicle just went dead. She lost all power nothing would work. She was on a outside land and was able to get it off the road. She said it was really hard to do that and scared her very much. She said if she had been in the middle lane she would have not been able to get it off the road. We took it to our mechanic and he told us to take it to a dealer as they had the proper equipment to test the hybrid system. We dont have a lexus dealer in our town but we have a Toyota. We took it there and they told us it would be 170.00 to find the problem. They called us and had a list of things they recommended. My husband asked did you check the hybird system and they said yes they could find no problems. I called and talked to the gentelman and he said the tests they ran they could not find the problem. I asked him what we could do and he said they cant find the problem. I looked on the internet and many many people have the same problem. How could they not know what the problem was. This makes no sense to me. If your drining down the freeway and lose power this is a safety problem. Lots and Lots of the remarks were to report them to NHSTA so thats what I am doing. Thank You

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-01
- VIN: JTJHW31UX82
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Vehicle brakes are inconsistent. The ABS system also locks up periodically, and fail to engage at other times. Extremely dangerous to drive. They are also very noisy. I contacted both the local Lexus dealership and national number, but they refused to fix them under warranty. Lexus DID offer an extended warranty in 2016 or so, but since I was the second owner of the vehicle, I never received notification of the extended warranty that went through Dec. 31 2017. In September, 2020, I could no longer deal with the brakes, so I bought a new ABS actuator from the Lexus dealership and installed it myself. It was straight forward and took less than an hour to install and bleed the brake lines per Lexus instructions. Less than 16 months later, the ABS system is failing again. Lexus told me that the part warranty is only one year, and refused to cover the expense to fix.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share that I've had this car since 2007 and it's been amazing. I haven't had any issues with it and everything has held up beyond my expectations. It's truly been a reliable vehicle.
-
This is our 3rd RX out of 4. We had a good ride and enjoyed the impressive interior features. The navigation console was also impressive, although it was a bit difficult to use. If you're looking for navigation, we recommend getting a Nuvi or Tom-Tom and saving yourself $2k. The backup camera and Bluetooth were good features, but unfortunately, there was no iPod or MP3 input (by the way, what's with the tape player?). The lock-out during driving was a bit frustrating, but we understand the safety concerns. The maps and POI were a bit out of date, with the best guess being 2005 maps. Updates are available for an extra service charge. The ride was a bit rough, and the tires were loud, with high interior noise from the road and engine. Overall, the comfort for four people was okay, but we wouldn't recommend driving too far without taking a break. We were able to get 21-23 mpg, which is not bad. The engine may be small, but it's perky. We feel that the price value is more like $30K instead of $40K. This might be our last RX after the lease, but we've enjoyed our time with it.

Your wife's choice has exceeded her expectations! From my perspective, the RX 350 is a dependable car that holds its value, although it may not be the most exciting option out there. However, there is one issue to be aware of: the leather seats are not well-made and may darken with certain clothing colors. The dealer claims that the seats are so soft that they absorb the color, but we know better than that. If you have a bamboo Pearl exterior with tan leather, be careful with your clothing choices. Overall, your wife loves the car and that's what matters most!
-
If you're looking for a reliable and luxurious vehicle, this is the one for you! Although it can be a little tough to work on, it is extremely reliable. While there have been some minor issues such as a cracking dashboard and a transmission slip caused by the dealer's mistake, the RX350 handles well and keeps you safe in rainy or snowy weather. With good spark plugs and 93 octane, it has plenty of pickup and gets 16mpg in the city and 20 on the highway. Overall, I would rate it a 9.5/10.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the RX 350. I purchased it three weeks ago and I am absolutely in love with it! I live in Pittsburgh and was able to test it out in the last snow/ice storm we had, and the car performed admirably. I couldn't be happier with it. The cabin is spacious and comfortable for 4 or 5 passengers. The V6 engine puts out 270 hp, which is great for pick-up, and it's easier on the wallet with gas compared to its competitors, which are all V8s. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts on this amazing car!

The car has 2300 miles on it and needs a transmission repair. There are also many rattles and other strange noises. While Hyundai quality may be better, this car is not as quiet as many reviews have stated and is actually quite noisy. At over $40k, it compares more to a Chevy or Buick than a real luxury car. It seems overpriced and poorly built.

I have owned 4 Lexus vehicles before purchasing a 2008 RX350 for my wife. I loved the 2000 Rx350, but the 2005 GX was not as impressive. Unfortunately, the 2008 RX350 was not my favorite. The driving experience was boring and lacked refinement. However, I have been considering purchasing another Lexus after owning a Cadillac SRX. My wife is also interested in buying a Lexus again. We have been researching and found some complaints about transmission issues with older Lexus models. Despite this, I am ready to return to a more reliable vehicle and give Lexus another chance.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my cars. I've had an ML320 for a while now, and it's been a great car with over 235k miles. I thought I'd try out a Lexus, given the reputation of Japanese cars for reliability. Unfortunately, I've been a bit disappointed with this car. The transmission tends to jerk between lower gears (1-2-3, especially), and there's a pretty bad rattling noise coming from the underbody. I've taken it to several places, but no one seems to be able to fix it. Additionally, I was surprised to find that it's pretty basic for the price I paid. There's no Bluetooth, navigation, or even a backup camera. Finally, I've found that the traction and stability control aren't great in the Michigan snow. Thanks for listening!

Although the transition from my 2005 4Runner to this car was intended to be an upgrade, I have unfortunately been left feeling disappointed. The road noise is more prominent than I had anticipated, which may be attributed to the tires or a lack of cabin insulation. The ride quality is average and falls short of the luxurious experience I was hoping for. Additionally, the car is not ideal for seating more than four adults comfortably. The radio quality is also subpar for a car in this price range, as it crackles even at medium volume. Overall, I believe that this car does not meet the standards of a true luxury SUV.

I owned an ML320 for 9 years and recently traded it in for a new Lexus RX 350. I must say, the fit and finish of the Lexus is great. However, I find that it underperforms in terms of horsepower compared to my previous car, which was heavier and had a lower horsepower rating. The handling of the Lexus is not very exciting and reminds me of an old man car like the Buick LaSabre. If you are a fan of the M Class, I would recommend holding on to it and cherishing it.
