The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. The nuts that fasten the wiper arms may be insufficiently torqued such that if the wiper arms are restricted by an external load, such as a buildup of heavy snow, one or both of the wipers may become inoperative.

While it may not have the same power and handling as some of its competitors, it still offers a comfortable ride, beautiful exterior, and plenty of options and gadgets. Of course, everyone has different preferences when it comes to what they want in a car, but it's worth considering all the factors before making a decision. Overall, Lexus has done a great job with this model and it's definitely worth checking out!

Before you purchased your car, you came onto Edmunds to read reviews and do some research. The only negative thing you mentioned about your car is that there isn't much room in the backseat for larger people. However, you mentioned that it drives well and you don't even feel the difference when you are going 25 or 50.

We chose this car as the perfect graduation gift for our son after having multiple Lexuses. As a parent of an 18-year-old, the safety features are comforting, and the AWD was a necessity for the New England winter. The car has proven to be amazingly competent in snow, even compared to my GX 470, as long as there is less than 5 or so inches. The ride and handling are on par with BMW, and the maintenance, or lack thereof, is better than the similar contenders from BMW and Audi. Although the steering is not quite that of BMW, the car makes up for that in every other aspect. If you are considering anything from BMW, Audi, and especially Mercedes, the IS 250 should definitely be on your short list of contenders.

I've had this car for over a year now. As someone who has always driven imports, I can confidently say that this is the best import car I've ever owned. While gas prices were high at 4 dollars, I opted for 2.5 instead of 3.5 and it still has a lot of power and zips through traffic phenomenally. It's a joy to drive every day and I've already put 20K miles on this clean ride. The S curves are a lot of fun and everyone who sits in the car loves the interior. It can be a bit crowded in the back, but it's still a sports sedan after all. I use my mp3 player in it all the time and the leather seats are great. The navigation system is a must-have, especially with the reverse camera! The only downside is that the tail is high when reversing without a camera and there is some slight road noise with Potenzas. However, I absolutely love the sport steering and it's great for U-turns and stopping on a dime!

I love the design and all the luxurious features, such as the turning headlights and the cooled seats. The car handles like it's on rails, rides unbelievably smoothly, and is both quiet and fast. It's definitely the best and most reliable car I've ever owned. I would choose it over a BMW any day, and for the price, how could you say no?

We bought a Lexus is250 in Florida and after driving it for about a year, we noticed that the door panels and dashboard were melting like goo. We were relieved to receive a letter from the dealership stating that this issue was covered under a warranty enhancement program and that we could get replacements from Lexus at no cost. However, we were disappointed to find out that only 5 cars had been fixed after a year of waiting. When we called Lexus to complain, they informed us that the parts were on back-order. We understand that they are still producing new cars and selling them, but we feel that they are not standing behind their product and not caring about their existing customers. The car is in such bad condition that we can hardly drive it. The melted goop from the doors has ruined the seats and our clothing, while the melted goop from the dashboard has ruined the steering wheel and shift panel. We feel that their warranty program is not effective and that they are only fixing a few cars every six months to show that they are doing something. They offered us a dashboard cover, but that would forfeit our place on the waiting list. We are extremely disappointed and frustrated, especially since we spent 20k on this vehicle. We called the Lexus corporate line and were told that a manager would call us back on Monday, but we did not receive a call until Thursday. When we asked why, the manager simply said that she forgot. We were shocked when Lisa from customer care, who claimed to be a manager, laughed at us when we asked her to escalate our claim. We have never been spoken to in such a rude and disrespectful manner. We are appalled by their lack of care for their customers and cannot believe that they have people who have so little respect for their clients calling and pretending to be managers. In conclusion, we did not receive what we paid for.Please be aware when purchasing an IS that there is currently a class action lawsuit against Lexus for the IS models.
