- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-01
- VIN: 1V2ME2CA3LC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: About two months ago, all of sudden, all of the electronic safety features were going out as reported on the dash. ECS, Lane Assist, Forward/Rear Collission sensors, side detection sensors, parking assist, tire pressure sensors, Auto Start/Stop, and more. The fact that all of these electronic assist and safety features were all disabled made the care very dangerous and confusing to drive. Changing lanes for example became a safety hazard, backing up safety hazard, lane assist, safety hazard, side view sensors safety hazard, disabled ecs - safety hazard, etc. I took the vehicle into the dealership at 57K miles and under 4 years old only to find out there were no recalls issued, warranty expired at 50K miles and a $1600 repair/service bill. This issue should be investigated and, in my opinion, turned into a safety recall. There really is no reason a car less than 4 years old should have an electronic control problem withonly 57K miles other than poor design or poor manufacturing quality causing a safety problem. Dealer has confirmed it's due to the AWD Control Module, a Pump I believe, and corroded wire harness which comes with the pump, i'm told.

There are many situations, at different times of day and weather conditions. The check engine light has not turned on and the dealership will not do anything until they see it happen. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. I have disabled the start/stop system and it still does it. It may be the charcoal canister if my research is correct, however, that is not confirmed.

I was told that the carnet module needed replacement and would cost me a bit over $1200. They said that it was a known issue amongst 20-21 versions of the vehicle. I researched to find if anyone else experienced the same with this car and to my surprise, there are a slew of individuals with this issue on the vwatlas forum expressing my exact concerns. If this is a well known issue, that’s apparently a manufacturers mishap, why hasn’t this system been recalled. Why are we being charged to replace something that has been proven faulty by none of our fault at all. I’ve never used my SOS and I think something should be done about this, instead of allowing VW customers to be bled of funds after purchasing!

Hey there! Have you considered this SUV before any others?
-
An absolutely fabulous road trip vehicle. It has a quiet and smooth driving experience on all road surfaces, and surprisingly good fuel economy for its size. Although, I do miss having a CD player.
-
This car has everything, including a heated leather steering wheel.

SEL V6 I was considering replacing my 2016 Explorer Limited with the 2020 model, but I wasn't really motivated given the price, even after a big discount from MFRP (Manufactures Fake Retail Price). However, since we already have a Jetta and Passat that we like, I decided to look up the Atlas Cross Sport on Edmunds. The expert review was good, and the consumer reviews convinced me to take a look. I ended up buying one the same day! The styling is great, especially in black with black wheels. During the test drive, I was convinced before I even got out of the dealer lot. The low-end torque is impressive, the transmission is super smooth, and the engine sound is spirited. The ride is great, and the steering is precise and tight, considering its size. Fun fact: The German-built 3.6L narrow-angle V6, also known as the VR6, has been used in Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini, albeit in a slightly different configuration. They even use two VR6 engines paired together to create the W12 engine!

This vehicle is really spacious! As someone who is 6'2

I've owned my Atlas for a couple of years and it was just okay. Although it was loaded with all the extras, I had to take it in for recalls and software updates frequently. While the dealership tried to take care of it, I felt like it was one thing after another. The last recall I received was that the side airbags were not working in front, so at that point, I decided to get a new car. Lately, German cars have been a disappointment. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Hey there! Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with this vehicle. Have you considered looking into other options that might better suit your needs?
Fredy Murphy 2024-04-14
I really enjoyed the look and feel of this vehicle, but ultimately decided not to lease it for a few reasons. The gas mileage was lower than I would have preferred, and unfortunately there were no interior color options available, resulting in a very dark interior. Additionally, I found the odd metal panels made to look like grey wood on the dash and doors of the SE 4 motion model to be a bit tacky and unnecessary. Despite these drawbacks, I still have a fondness for the vehicle and may consider it again in a few years if improvements are made.
