Common 2013 Lexus Is 250 problems
The Lexus IS 250, produced in 2013, has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues include:
- Airbag system recalls: There have been numerous airbag system recalls in the Lexus IS 250, with the last one being in 2019. The airbag problem is mostly associated with inoperable airbag inflator modules. However, there's another problem with the airbag system, even for the vehicles that got the airbags replaced during a recall. It's the safety hazard caused by inflator bags that could cause an explosion after humidity exposure if not used for a while. Not only is the explosion a bad thing for airbag inflation, but the metal fragments could also end up causing lethal injuries.
- Melting dashboard: This is a common issue for all the IS 250 generations. The melting dashboard can be caused by exposure to direct sunlight, and it can lead to a significant decrease in the car's value.
- Wiper arms: The wiper arms are sometimes inoperable under load, like snow. This issue can be particularly problematic during winter conditions, making it challenging to maintain visibility while driving.
- Inside rear-view mirror discoloring: This problem is one of the more common issues with the Lexus IS 250. The inside rear-view mirror may become discolored, which can be difficult to address and may continue to worsen over time.
- Intermittent power steering: This is a more dangerous, but also more rare problem with the Lexus IS 250. When the power steering is intermittent and starts to go out, it can make it difficult to keep control of the vehicle. These problems are very rare but can be serious when they happen and can be challenging to address.
It's important to note that while these issues are common, they are not necessarily indicative of all Lexus IS 250 vehicles produced in 2013. However, potential buyers should be aware of these problems and consider having the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic before making a purchase.

After our last Lexus was wrecked in a weather-related accident, we decided to purchase this 2010 IS250. As owners of a GX460 and two other Lexus models, we were excited to try out this spunky little sedan with its many features. We've found it to be a fun car to drive, and the AWD is very good. While the back seat is a bit snug, we were already aware of this. Although the front door locks have acted up occasionally (not unlocking when we use the remote), this issue seems to have resolved itself in recent days. Overall, we're pleased with the IS, which is a great second car for the price.

Hey there! I noticed that you mentioned a serious flaw with the moonroof when it's fully retracted. It seems like the car vibrates and shakes quite a bit, especially when you're traveling around 50 to 60 mph. Have you tried closing the moonroof halfway? That might help stop the shaking. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!
