2006 Buick Terraza problems
The Buick Terraza is a five-door minivan marketed by Buick from 2005 to 2007 model years as a luxury crossover sport van. The Terraza was a badge engineered variant of the Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Saturn minivans sharing the U platform; (Uplander, Montana SV6, and Relay respectively), all manufactured in Doraville, Georgia.
Design
The Terraza retailed at US$28,110 in 2005 ($43,853 in 2023 dollars ), and debuted with one engine, a 3.5 L High Value V6 generating 200 hp (149 kW) and 220 lb·ft (298 N·m) of torque. For 2006, a 3.9 L LZ9 V6, with 240 hp (179 kW) and 240 lb·ft (332 Nm) torque. The Terraza offered leather seats, and faux wood trim on the center stack, offered also on the steering wheel and gear shift knob.
For 2007, the 3.5 L V6 was dropped, leaving the 3.9 L as the base engine. Consequently, the optional AWD system was also dropped. A flex-fuel version of the 3.9 L V6 also became available for the Terraza's third season. The 2007 Terraza equipped with side airbags scored a "good" in the frontal offset and an "acceptable" in the side impact Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests.

Common 2006 Buick Terraza problems
The Buick Terraza, a minivan produced by General Motors, has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These problems include intermittent heating and cooling fan operation, malfunctioning cigarette lighter/power plug-ins, issues with door locking and unlocking mechanisms, inadequate air conditioning, faulty thermostats, and problems with the gas cap and sliding doors.
One of the most frequently reported issues is the intermittent operation of the front console fan and back overhead fans for heating and cooling. This problem can be frustrating for drivers and passengers, as the fans may start blowing air intermittently, leaving the vehicle's interior uncomfortable.
Another common problem is the malfunctioning cigarette lighter/power plug-ins. This issue can affect the ability to charge electronic devices or use other accessories that rely on this power source.
The Terraza's door locking and unlocking mechanisms have also been reported to malfunction. In some cases, the doors may not all lock or unlock with the toggling of the door lock button, requiring manual locking or unlocking of each door. Additionally, key fobs may stop working, further complicating the locking and unlocking process.
The air conditioning system in the Terraza has also been reported to blow out air that is not as cold as it should be. This issue can be especially problematic during hot weather, leaving the vehicle's interior uncomfortable and potentially affecting the health and well-being of the occupants.
Furthermore, the Terraza's thermostat has been reported to malfunction, causing the engine to fail to heat up to the proper temperature. This issue can affect the vehicle's performance and fuel efficiency, as well as the comfort of the occupants during cold weather.
Another common problem with the Terraza is the malfunctioning of the gas cap, which can trigger the check engine light. This issue can be especially problematic during long trips, as it can affect the vehicle's fuel efficiency and performance.
Finally, the sliding doors on both sides of the Terraza have been reported to be slow to respond to opening. This issue can affect the convenience and safety of entering and exiting the vehicle, especially for those with mobility issues or young children.
These common problems with the Buick Terraza can affect the vehicle's performance, safety, and comfort. While some of these issues may be relatively minor and easy to fix, others may require more extensive repairs or replacement of parts. It is important for Terraza owners to be aware of these common problems and to take appropriate action to address them, either on their own or with the help of a qualified mechanic.

I recently walked through the dealership and noticed that Buick made a van. It immediately caught my eye and the more I looked at it, the more I thought that for what was offered at the price, it was an absolute bargain. One of the things that impressed me the most was how quiet the vehicle was, even when it was fully loaded. I could hold a normal conversation without any issues. Now, 12,000 miles later, I still walk out to the parking lot and utter 'yeah!'
-
Fantastic van! You got a great deal on it and didn't have to finance it. The price was so low and the features are amazing. It drives great and is an all-around great vehicle. You would definitely buy one again!
-
I know that Honda, Toyota, and Nissan are popular choices, with Chrysler products leading the American pack. However, I have found the Buick Terraza to be an excellent ride, with all the luxuries of the top models, and at half the price. Although consumer ratings may be low, there are great deals available for GM's. I am not sure why the ratings are low, but I personally enjoy these vans. The vehicle is well-built and has a great look, almost SUV-like. The DVD system with wireless headphones is perfect for keeping the kids entertained, and I have not experienced any performance issues. As a mini-van, I am not expecting the same performance as the cars of my youth. If you are looking for a good van at a reasonable price, I highly recommend this American-made ride.
-
The van rides really well and has great pickup for its size and weight. The brakes feel fantastic with no fade or shudder. The seats are super comfortable and there's loads of room for hauling things.
-
This is the best car I have ever had. My wife always picks the vehicle. I only have one problem, and that is getting the little things fixed. We have a cottage in the north, and I have run out of gas three times because of a faulty gas gauge. On long trips, I tend to get a very severe ache in my right shoulder, and we think this is from the A/C unit, which has little control other than on/off.

The interior design is very poor. The accelerator pedal is uncomfortable and can cause strain on the foot. The seat adjustment is insufficient for a six-foot driver. Unfortunately, there is no storage space between the front seats, and the cup holder blocks access to the storage space. Additionally, there is only one power outlet in the front area, which makes it difficult to use a phone charger and GPS at the same time. It would be helpful to have a hand grip on the passenger side to hold onto when entering or exiting. There are other deficiencies, but due to time constraints, I am unable to list them all. The wind and road noise are excessive, and there are many rattles. Unfortunately, the dealer has been unable to locate and fix them, and return visits to the dealer have been too frequent to attempt a fix. The CD player had to be removed and sent back.

Overall, I think this is a good van. It has lots of room and is very quiet. It rides nicely on the highway. Although I have had no major problems, I must say that the warranty work performed by Carl Black Buick was very poor.

The overall experience has been good, but the A/C has gone out several times. It is important to note that this issue can be resolved, and it is not a major concern for long trips. While the dealers were unable to identify the root cause of the problem, I am confident that Buick will find a solution soon. I recommend this vehicle with the assurance that the A/C issue will be resolved. Thank you for considering this vehicle.

Although the initial experience with my used 3.9L V6 was not ideal, I have taken the necessary steps to address the issues I was experiencing. After some investigation, I discovered that the automatic sliding doors were causing the alarm bells to go off, but this was resolved with a simple computer chip update. While there were some inconsistencies with the transmission, the dealership was unable to find any underlying issues. Despite some road noise and rattling, I am confident in my decision to own this vehicle and look forward to enjoying it for years to come.

I am disappointed with the performance of my new van. From day one, it has stalled when starting, and I was informed that it is a manufacturer's problem that cannot be fixed. Additionally, there are several noises, from the tires to the seats, and the blind spots in the rear windows are bad due to the back headrest. The storage space in the back is also very limited. I have had to repair the sliding door, replace the weather stripes on the doors, install a new CD player, and replace two keypads in less than three years. The rear hatch is hard to close, there is no rear heat, and the non-auto sliding door is hard to close. Furthermore, there is no room between the front console and front storage area. It is worth noting that this model is no longer in production.
