Initial release
The A7 is in essence a four-door fastback version of the C7-series Audi A6, based on the Volkswagen Group MLB platform. The A7 was released before the more conventional A6 saloon/estate. Both cars share the same core structure, drivetrain, chassis, dashboard and interior, whilst the A7 has its own unique exterior panelwork. It also differs from the A6 in that it uses aluminium for much of its front body structure. The A7 was also the first fastback to appear within the Audi C-platform series since the Avant version of the C2 Audi 100, which was discontinued in 1982. The vehicle was unveiled in Pinakothek der Moderne art museum in Munich on 26 July 2010, and later at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, 2011 New York Auto Show, and Wörthersee Tour 2011 (in Misano Red).
The vehicles went on sale in autumn 2010. Common 2012 Audi A7 problems
Common Problems with the Audi A7 2012
- Busted Timing Chains:
Owners of the Audi A7 2012 have reported issues with busted timing chains. This problem can be significant as it affects the engine's timing, potentially leading to severe engine damage if not addressed promptly. Timing chain problems can result in engine misfires, rough idling, and in extreme cases, complete engine failure. It is crucial for Audi A7 owners to be vigilant about any unusual engine noises, such as rattling or knocking sounds, which could indicate timing chain issues. Timely maintenance and inspections can help prevent catastrophic engine damage associated with timing chain failures. - Start-Stop Defects:
Another common problem reported by Audi A7 owners is related to start-stop defects. The start-stop system in vehicles is designed to improve fuel efficiency by automatically shutting off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop and restarting it when the driver accelerates. However, defects in this system can lead to issues such as the engine failing to restart, causing inconvenience and potential safety concerns. Owners experiencing start-stop defects may notice the engine not restarting as expected, leading to delays and potential reliability issues. Addressing these defects promptly through professional diagnosis and repair is essential to ensure the proper functioning of the start-stop system. - Cheating Diesel Emissions:
Audi A7 owners have also raised complaints regarding cheating diesel emissions. This issue pertains to the diesel engines in some Audi A7 models potentially not meeting emission standards as claimed by the manufacturer. Diesel emission cheating can have environmental implications and may result in regulatory fines or recalls. Owners concerned about diesel emissions compliance should stay informed about any recalls or updates related to emission control systems in their Audi A7 vehicles. Regular emission testing and adherence to maintenance schedules can help mitigate the impact of diesel emission issues on the vehicle's performance and environmental footprint.
By addressing these common problems with the Audi A7 2012, owners can better understand potential issues that may arise and take proactive measures to maintain the reliability and performance of their vehicles. Regular maintenance, timely repairs, and staying informed about recalls or technical bulletins can help Audi A7 owners address these common problems effectively.

- Summary: I BOUGHT A 2012 AUDI A7 PRESTIGE FROM CARVANA ONLINE IN DECEMBER 2019, FEW DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. AT THE END OF JANUARY, I'D AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR, WHICH NEEDED IT TO GO TO THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS. AT THE SHOP, I FOUND OUT THAT MY WHEELS WERE STAGGERED AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOWERED THAN ITS ORIGINAL SPECIFICATION AND RECOMMENDATION. I CONTACTED CARVANA AND SILVERROCK, AND A CLAIM WAS INITIATED ON 02/09/2020 AT 1:58PM. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A SHOP AND HAVE THEM CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE. FEW MONTHS LATER, I NEEDED TO DO OIL CHANGE AND PERIODIC SERVICING AT AUDI CONCORD, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE WHEELS OF MY VEHICLE IS A HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE SWITCHED BACK TO MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATION. MIND YOU, WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM CARVANA, THERE WAS NEVER A DISCLOSURE OF THE WHEELS BEEN CHANGED. CARVANA CLAIMS THEY HAVE MECHANICS WHO INSPECT EVERY CAR THEY SELL AND I'M SURE IF THAT IS TRUE, THEY KNEW ABOUT THIS AND JUST DECIDED NOT TO DISCLOSE IT TO ME, SO I COULD GO ON WITH THE VEHICLE PURCHASE. AUDI HAS STATED THAT MY WHEELS COULD FALL OFF, AMONG OTHER RISKS OF DRIVING A STAGGERED WHEEL. MY A7 IS A QUATRO AND EVERYTHING IS A SET OF 4, THAT NEEDS TO MATCH. I'VE A 3-YEAR OLD SON I DRIVE AROUND IN THE BACK SEAT. I'M SURE IF I WASN'T BLACK, THEY WOULD DISCLOSE THE DANGER OF DRIVING AROUND WITH MY FAMILY IN A CAR THE WHEELS COULD FALL OFF AND KILL US ALL. I'VE ALERTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY, AND THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO DO ANYTHING. THEY CLAIM I NEEDED A DIAGNOSIS FROM WHEN I FIRST REPORTED THE ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH I'VE SENT THEM AND UPLOADED A FILE FROM MY SERVICE ADVISOR AT AUDI, AND THE PDF CLEARLY STATES MY CLAIM. THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT STARTED EVEN BEFORE I GOT THE CAR. WHY CAN'T IT BE SIMPLY CORRECTED BACK TO MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATION?

I'm not exactly sure where or when the visual attraction began, but it doesn't really matter now that we're united. My best girl and my most recent born daughter were involved in a t-bone style collision on December 7th 2022. It wasn't her fault and I apologize for using the word 'thrust' as an adverb here, but please bear with me. Long story short, I was looking for an SUV to replace her totaled Dodge Durango and I stumbled upon my Patty. It was love at first sight! Before I knew it, we were blowing red lights and saying goodnight with a kiss. I got her home and we've been inseparable ever since. I love my Audi A7 and that's a fact, my friend!

I bought my Audi A7 used with just under 100,000 kilometres and have since added about 35,000 kilometres. I must say, it's been an absolute pleasure to own this car. I've only had to replace two front springs and some small components (exhaust items) besides the normal maintenance. The car's interior is simply beautiful and has aged gracefully. It's stylish, comfortable, and doesn't look dated at all. The performance of this 3.0L V6 in a heavy car is remarkable, and it handles extremely well. It drives like a much smaller car, and it's perfect for road trips. I can even carry as much as my 4Runner did, which is impressive. All in all, this vehicle was a used car bargain for what you get.

Fantastic car! It's very well-mannered and does exactly what you ask it to do.

I was searching for a car that could hold 2 golf clubs, had good seats for long travel, and had 4 doors. A month ago, I test drove the A7 and was thoroughly impressed with its performance, handling, ride, dashboard, and everything else. This is my first Audi purchase and I am having a blast driving it. The car is lively, smooth, and never gets boring. Although I still own a Bentley GT, I would say that the A7 is just as good and is more like a little sister to the Bentley GT. The A7 has a lot of power, is fast, and is fun to drive. Additionally, the entertainment and navigation systems are much better than those of the Bentley GT.

I am confident in the quality of my vehicle's maintenance. Although I had to replace my second alternator after only 20k miles, I trust that the issue has been resolved. Additionally, I have had my headlights, brakes, AC, and tires serviced as needed to ensure optimal performance.
