1998 Chevrolet G35 problems
The Chevrolet Van or Chevy Van (also known as the Chevrolet/GMC G-series vans and GMC Vandura) is a range of vans that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1964 to 1996 model years. Introduced as the successor for the rear-engine Corvair Corvan/Greenbrier, the model line also replaced the panel van configuration of the Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was sold both in passenger van and cargo van configurations as well as a cutaway van chassis that served as the basis for a variety of custom applications.
Produced across three generations (1964–66, 1967–70, and 1970–96), the model line was sold under a wide variety of model names under both the Chevrolet and GMC brands. The first two generations were forward control vehicles (with the engine placed between the seats); the third generation adopted a configuration placing the engine forward of the driver. The second and third generations shared powertrain commonality with the C/K pickup truck model line.
After the 1996 model year, GM retired the G-Series vans, replacing them with the GMT600-platform Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.

Common 1998 Chevrolet G35 problems
The Chevrolet G35 1998, also known as the Infiniti G35, is a reliable vehicle, but like any car, it can develop problems as it ages. Here are some of the most common issues reported by owners of the 1998 Chevrolet G35, based on online forums and consumer reports:
- Faulty Interior Accessories: Many owners have reported issues with the car's interior accessories, such as a faulty car radio, CD player, and malfunctioning interior controls. These problems often start with a faulty car radio, followed by the inability to control the cabin's temperature and fan speed. Replacing faulty accessories usually resolves these issues.
- Malfunctioning Crankshaft Angle Sensor or Camshaft Position Sensor: Some 1998 Chevrolet G35 models have been reported to have a malfunctioning crankshaft angle sensor or camshaft position sensor. This issue can cause a noticeable loss of engine power, serious drivability issues, and an illuminated check engine light. Nissan, the manufacturer of the G35, issued a recall for some of the affected model years, and dealers may replace the faulty part along with the variable timing control sensor, depending on the sedan's model year.
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Failure: The PCM is a critical component of the G35's computer system, controlling the engine control module (ECM) and the transmission control module (TCM). When the PCM fails, it can affect multiple aspects of the vehicle, such as the check engine light, the car's inability to start, sudden loss of gas mileage, failed emissions tests, engine stuttering or stalling, erratic or random shifting, and PCM-related error codes.
It's essential to address these issues promptly to ensure the safety and reliability of the 1998 Chevrolet G35. Regular maintenance and inspections can help identify and prevent these problems from occurring.
