Common 2013 Lexus Ct 200h problems

The Lexus CT 200h, introduced in 2011, has been a popular choice for those seeking a premium hybrid hatchback. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems that potential buyers should be aware of.

One of the most frequently reported issues is the navigation rebooting after initial start, affecting the 2014 model year. This problem has been reported by multiple owners, with an average cost to fix of $5,500 and an average mileage of 107,000 mi. This issue can be particularly frustrating for drivers, as it affects the vehicle's technology and convenience features.

Another common problem is the check engine light activating due to failure of the emission system component, catalytic converter, or sensor, as well as faulty head gasket, damaged fuel injection system, or defective spark plugs. This issue can lead to decreased performance and fuel efficiency, as well as potential long-term engine damage if not addressed promptly.

The Lexus CT200h's exterior light problems are also a common complaint, particularly in models from 2011 to 2015. The exterior light comes with a four-year or 50,000-mile warranty, but some owners have reported that the exterior light wears out before the warranty expires. This issue can cost around $500 to fix, including labor costs, and the potential source of the problem is not always clear.

Additionally, some owners have reported issues with the CVT transmission and airbag-related problems, particularly in the 2011 and 2013 model years. These issues can lead to decreased performance, safety concerns, and expensive repairs.

Finally, engine rattling and vibrations during cold weather have been reported in Toyota and Lexus vehicles equipped with a 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain, including the CT200h. While this issue has not caused severe engine damage, it can be concerning for drivers and may indicate a larger problem with the vehicle's powertrain.

Despite these common problems, the Lexus CT200h is still considered a reliable vehicle with great fuel economy and strong performance. However, potential buyers should be aware of these issues and consider them when making their purchasing decision. It is recommended to thoroughly inspect any used CT200h and consider the vehicle's history and maintenance records before making a purchase.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my CT so far. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and have only driven less than 1000 miles. Despite that, I've already fueled up twice and both times I was able to achieve between 49 and 50 miles per gallon! This is definitely above the mpg on the sticker. I've noticed that there are a plethora of CT drivers out there, some getting below 40mpg while others are getting over 50mpg. It all depends on how you drive the car. If you're looking for good mpg, it's important to be prepared to pull to the right, slowly get up to speed, and let the traffic pass you by. Personally, I'm okay with that. If you are too, then the CT is definitely the car for you! Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can help with.

I purchased this vehicle on August 2nd, but unfortunately, the day after I got it, the check engine light came on. To make matters worse, a week later, it started making a noise and five warning lights, including the hybrid system light, came on. I immediately took it back to the dealer, and although they said they fixed it, the check engine light came back on the day after I picked it up. Now, a week later, the hybrid system light is on again. Thankfully, the selling dealer has assured me that it is covered under a 90-day warranty, so I am hopeful that they can resolve the issue.

I'd like to start off by saying that the ct200h f sport is a decent car, but it may not be the most comfortable option, especially for long drives. It might be best to avoid the F-sport version as the bucket seat design doesn't offer much support, despite having built-in lumbar support. Unfortunately, I've had some trouble getting support from Lexus themselves after highlighting this issue, as they've given me conflicting information. Both a physio and an occupational health advisor have confirmed that the seat is causing my back problems, which is surprising as I've never had any issues with the seats of other cars I've driven long distances, such as Audi, BMW, Ford, or Peugeot. I didn't have any problems with the regular ct200h seat, so I'm curious to know if anyone else has had similar issues with the f-sport version?

I had the car for 3 years and had it serviced as scheduled. Unfortunately, the brake actuator and the main battery failed simultaneously, resulting in a costly repair of 9000 dollars. However, this experience has not deterred me from purchasing another hybrid vehicle in the future.

I can't believe I need a head gasket at 170k. I changed the oil religiously. After looking on the web, it appears that this is a common occurrence with this engine.

  1. Andrew Rippin 2024-11-22

This car is great! I'm so glad I chose this attractive hybrid from Lexus/Toyota. While it may not be as luxurious in terms of ride comfort as you might expect from the Lexus brand, it more than makes up for it in other areas. I can confidently say that this is the best car I've ever owned and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

  2. Darwin Pacocha 2024-11-18

This is an amazing hybrid car! The CT gets incredible mileage and is a blast to drive. If you want to merge onto the highway, just set it to sport mode until you're up to speed. As someone who was used to driving a large SUV, it took me a little while to adjust to this smaller sports car, but I've really enjoyed owning it. The cost of ownership has been very reasonable, and the batteries have lasted a long time. It only needs 8 gallons of gas and can run for about 340 miles. I would keep it forever, but unfortunately, my dog needs a bigger ride!

  3. Garnet Parker 2024-11-11

I can't believe how expensive it is! I need a head gasket at 112k. I've always changed the oil religiously and always used the dealer service department. It appears that this is a common occurrence with this engine. I'm really disappointed.

  4. Bernhard Hettinger 2024-11-09

PROS: The style, fit and finish quality of materials both inside and out are impressive. You'll also enjoy great gas mileage, great handling and braking, and plenty of power in Sport mode. Additionally, this car boasts superior reliability. CONS: The hatch has a small capacity with the back seats up, and there is poor rearward visibility. However, be sure to get a backup camera to mitigate this issue.

  5. Zakary Smith 2024-09-02

I've had the 2012 premium fire agate (brown) for 13 months and 14,200 miles. It's a popular car with many people giving it 5 stars and raving about it. However, I've had a slightly different experience. While the fuel economy has been good, ranging from 37 to 44 depending on the time of year, I find the ride to be a bit hard due to the low profile tires. On the other hand, the handling is fantastic and the brakes are extremely powerful. The seats are comfortable for short trips, but for longer journeys, I find that the cushion is too soft in the middle, causing circulation to get cut off to my legs. The back bolsters are also a bit too aggressive. Additionally, the rear passengers cannot place their feet under the seats because of the HVAC. Finally, the Nav system is way too complicated and frustrating, which is why I end up using my iPhone many times. Overall, it's a good car with some minor issues that can be easily overlooked.
