Common Lexus Ct 200h problems

The Lexus CT 200h is a hybrid electric compact vehicle that has been praised for its luxurious interior, top-notch chassis, and tough body. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems that owners have reported. Here are some of the most common issues with the Lexus CT 200h, based on complaints from owners of this car.

  • Airbag-related problems: Another common issue with the Lexus CT 200h is airbag-related problems. Some owners have reported sudden airbag deployment due to welds within the inflator that caused inflator cracks and airbag system faults. This can be a serious safety issue and may require the attention of an official Lexus dealership to check the system and see if the particular model has gone through the recall.
  • Hybrid battery problems: While the hybrid component of the CT200h’s powertrain is generally reliable, some owners have reported premature battery wear and the battery replacement was often priced at around $4000 or even more. This can be a significant expense and may require the attention of a trusted mechanic with experience working on hybrid vehicles.
  • Navigation reboots after initial start: Some owners of the 2014 Lexus CT 200h have reported navigation reboots after the initial start. This can be a significant inconvenience and may require the attention of a Lexus dealership to diagnose and fix the problem.
  • Check engine light activation: The check engine light of Lexus CT200H may activate due to failure of the emission system component, catalytic converter, or sensor. It can also turn on due faulty head gasket, damaged fuel injection system, or defective spark plugs. This can be a significant issue and may require the attention of a trusted mechanic to diagnose and fix the problem.
  • Faulty brake: Some owners have reported weird brake noise and engine shaking when driving. This can be a significant safety issue and may require the attention of a trusted mechanic with experience working on Lexus or Toyota models.

In conclusion, while the Lexus CT 200h is a luxurious car to drive and enjoy long-lasting performance, it is important to be aware of the common problems that owners have reported. Proper preventative maintenance and following the Lexus CT200H maintenance schedule can help avoid most of these issues before they happen. The car handles well, and it is beautifully designed. However, I found the Navigation system in my 2012 4Runner easier to use and with more options. Additionally, the mouse is more distracting than the touch screen. I also found it odd that there are no cup holders in the back. Overall, it's a luxury vehicle for a good buy, but I doubt I would purchase another. I may be moving on to BMW in a few years.

In August 2014, I purchased a brand new Lexus Ct200h and absolutely loved it. However, in January, I started hearing crackling and rattling noises coming from the dashboard. Despite several visits to the dealership, the issue persisted and I was eventually informed that the rattling is a 'normal characteristic' of the car. I have documentation that suggests the cold weather may be a contributing factor to the sound. I am currently in the first step of the Lexus arbitration process and am hoping for a positive outcome. It is disappointing to experience such issues with a luxury car, and I believe that no one should have to accept rattling in a brand new vehicle.

Hey there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Lexus CT. While it may not be the right fit for everyone, it does have some great features. Have you considered the Mazda 3 or the Golf TDI? I test drove both and found them to be excellent options in the hatchback category. Thanks again for sharing your opinion!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my CT so far. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and have only driven less than 1000 miles. Despite that, I've already fueled up twice and both times I was able to achieve between 49 and 50 miles per gallon! This is definitely above the mpg on the sticker. I've noticed that there are a plethora of CT drivers out there, some getting below 40mpg while others are getting over 50mpg. It all depends on how you drive the car. If you're looking for good mpg, it's important to be prepared to pull to the right, slowly get up to speed, and let the traffic pass you by. Personally, I'm okay with that. If you are too, then the CT is definitely the car for you! Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can help with.

I'd like to start off by saying that the ct200h f sport is a decent car, but it may not be the most comfortable option, especially for long drives. It might be best to avoid the F-sport version as the bucket seat design doesn't offer much support, despite having built-in lumbar support. Unfortunately, I've had some trouble getting support from Lexus themselves after highlighting this issue, as they've given me conflicting information. Both a physio and an occupational health advisor have confirmed that the seat is causing my back problems, which is surprising as I've never had any issues with the seats of other cars I've driven long distances, such as Audi, BMW, Ford, or Peugeot. I didn't have any problems with the regular ct200h seat, so I'm curious to know if anyone else has had similar issues with the f-sport version?

I've only had it for a week, but I really like it. I used to have an RX, but I didn't need that much space since my family has grown and I mostly drive alone. It's a wonderful alternative. I love that you can shift it to Sport mode, but you have to watch your speed. It does have cruise control. Next, I'm thinking about the NX, which is a new model that's right in between the RX and CT. Unfortunately, they only have limited options available, so you have to take what's there. Also, there's no tan upholstery available at all, only black. Unless you go for the Sport model, which has red and black upholstery. The bottom line is that I didn't have to put anything down, but I decided to put $1k down to reduce my monthly payments. However, the salesperson said he would pay my first payment. By the way, I've had Lexus cars since they first came out. We had a 1990 LS 400, which we passed down to our family members. If you exchange your old Lexus for a new one, they always offer favorable deals. You get $1k off MSRP, but that's just a starting point.

The MPG may not be as high as 41 and you may need to fill up before reaching 500 miles. However, the gas tank is small and it only costs $20 to fill up. Although the seats could be more comfortable, the interior is very nice. I am even getting heated seats installed next week for $900 (the seller paid half). The passenger door makes a small sound when closing. Overall, I am extremely happy with the car and although it may not be perfect, it comes very close for the price!

Great car for handling and fuel economy. I'm glad to hear that it has a Prius drive train, but it seems like it may not be the easiest to exit, especially at your age. However, it's great to hear that you really like this car!

I'm so glad to hear that you love your car! It sounds like you made some great choices with the FSport and Navi. It's always nice to have a reliable and enjoyable car for your everyday commute. And it's great to hear that your receiver hitch and bike rack are working out well for you. It's wonderful that you've had such a trouble-free experience with your car for the past 5 years!

When I was looking for a car, I wanted something that was both stylish and technologically advanced, while also being fuel-efficient for my commutes in the New England area. Although I was initially concerned that the 2014 F-Sport edition in Ultrasonic Blue wouldn't be as fast as my G35 coupe or RX350 SUV, I was pleasantly surprised by its performance. With over 40mpg combined, it's a great choice for anyone looking to save on fuel costs. Plus, it's 100% Made in Japan, which I believe is a testament to the superior quality of Japanese products. While the price tag for a hybrid may be steep, I think it's worth it for the unique features and style of the F-Sport CT. It's also a rare find on the road, making it all the more special.
