- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Toyota Prius, 2010 and 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid, and 2011-2012 Lexus CT200h vehicles. A weld in the curtain shield air bag inflator may crack causing one or both portions of the inflator to eject into the passenger cabin.
- Consequence: If either portion of the curtain shield air bag inflator ejects into the passenger cabin, there is an increased risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will install retention brackets to the curtain shield air bags, free of charge. The recall began on October 17, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota Customer Service Department at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is Toyota G0U, and Lexus GLJ.

This car is quite different from most. It's a Lexus, so the comfort and appointments are great inside. However, it doesn't offer the same cushy ride as a Lexus ES or LS. You do feel the road more, but the car is incredibly quiet. The seating position for the driver is excellent, and the seat is very adjustable, making it feel like you're not in a small car. The rear seat room is good for three kids or maybe two adults, but the cargo space in the rear is a little tight. Trips to Home Depot will be different than if you were in an SUV, but you couldn't get nearly 50 MPG in an SUV either. The mileage is fantastic, better than what Lexus quotes.

This car has more than adequate pickup, especially from a stop, despite not being a rocket. The handling is great for a non-AWD vehicle, even with the mediocre OEM tires. The seats are fantastic with large bolsters, and I completely disagree with the Motorweek folks. The layout of the controls is easy to use, although the navigation system is unnecessarily awkward (I prefer the Navigon & TomTom apps on my iPhone, but unfortunately, they are not built into the car). We have driven over 2K miles, and we are averaging over 45MPG of mostly city/suburban driving, but we still get about 45 on the highway too.

Your opinion of the CT will depend on your expectations. The car has a sporty appearance, similar to an Audi A3 or Mazdaspeed 3 5-door. However, it is important to note that it is actually a Prius that is enjoyable to drive. Personally, I found it to be a world-class compact luxury sport wagon that is both fun to drive and offers Lexus quality and comfort within its stiff chassis limitations. Additionally, it gets an impressive 40+ mpg, which is better than my motorcycle. The car is a blast to drive, has ample cargo room for my needs (I regularly carry a couple of bicycles + gear to rides & races), and the technology works flawlessly. It is surprisingly fast in Sport mode and even turns a few heads. Overall, I love this car and consider it a winner for Lexus.

I can't believe it, you've been waiting for this car for about 18 months! Originally, it was considered a 'future concept vehicle', so you never really expected it to become a reality. As you racked up miles on your 2005 Prius, you patiently followed this Lexus dream to its fruition. You find the CT sporty, plush, and quite attractive. At some levels, it does feel somewhat cobbled together (no rear seat cupholders? Really?), but even a cobbled-together Lexus is still a Lexus. The seats are a dream. The interior cabin is well thought-out and you don't sit there wishing they did things differently (other than the missing cupholders). The more you play with the car, the more it surprises you!

I recently purchased a black Lexus UX Hybrid and I couldn't be happier with my choice. As a previous Lexus owner, I was looking for a vehicle that offered more space than my IS250, but not as much as the RX. The UX was the perfect combination of the two. The folding down back row of seats and access through the hatchback make great use of the space. Plus, it's a Lexus - what's not to love? :)
