2010 Land rover Range rover problems
The Land Rover Range Rover, generally shortened to Range Rover, is a 4x4 luxury SUV produced by Land Rover, a marque and sub-brand of Jaguar Land Rover. The Range Rover line was launched in 1970 by British Leyland and is now in its fifth generation.
Additional models have been launched under the Range Rover name, including the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar.
History
The Rover Company (originator of the Land Rover marque) was experimenting with a larger model than the Land Rover Series in 1951, when the Rover P4-based two-wheel-drive "Road Rover" project was developed by Gordon Bashford. This was shelved in 1958 and the idea lay dormant until 1966, when engineers Spen King and Bashford set to work on a new model.
The first Range Rover prototype was built in 1967 with plate number SYE 157F. The design of the Range Rover was finalised in 1969. Twenty-six Velar-badged engineering development vehicles were built between 1969 and 1970 and were road registered with the number plates YVB151H through to YVB177H.
Though being chassis no. 3, YVB 153H is believed to have been the first off the production line as a vehicle in that colour was urgently required for marketing. (The Range Rover with chassis no. 1 was a green model with the registration "YVB 151H", and is now on exhibition at Huddersfield Land Rover Centre, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire). The Velar name was derived from the Italian "velare" meaning to veil or to cover. Range Rover development engineer Geof Miller used the name as a decoy for registering pre-production Range Rovers. The Velar company was registered in London and produced 40 pre-production vehicles that were built between 1967 and 1970.
The Range Rover was launched in 1970. In the early 1970s, the Musée du Louvre in Paris exhibited a Range Rover as an "exemplary work of industrial design".
In 1971, ex-Cream drummer Ginger Baker used the unproven Range Rover to drive from Algeria to Lagos, Nigeria, to set up a recording studio and jam with Fela Kuti. Predating the Paris-Dakar rally the subsequent documentary is replete with such terrain, documenting the vehicle's endurance.
In 1972, the British Trans-Americas Expedition became the first vehicle-based expedition to traverse the Americas from north to south, including traversing the roadless Darién Gap. The specially modified Range Rovers used for this expedition are now on display in the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust collection at Gaydon, Warwickshire.
Range Rover sub-brands have been launched. In 2004, Land Rover debuted the Range Rover Sport, based on the Land Rover Discovery platform. Later models received the latest Range Rover platform. In 2011 came the Range Rover Evoque, and in 2017 the Range Rover Velar (re-using the name of the very first, pre-production Range Rovers).

Common 2010 Land rover Range rover problems
Common Problems with the Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2010
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2010 has been known to have several common problems that owners have reported over the years. These issues are primarily related to the engine, suspension, and electrical components.
- EGR Valves:
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valves are fitted to most modern vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions. However, the EGR process creates more soot, which can build up and prevent the valves from operating properly. Symptoms of faulty valves include heavy black smoke, loss of power, poor running, and high fuel consumption. The Range Rover Sport 2010 has two EGR valves, and if one fails, the other is likely to follow shortly after.
- Hand Brake Screeching or Failing to Release Properly:
This issue can be caused by the handbrake shoes collapsing, with the contact material coming away from the metal shoe or one of the mechanisms breaking. Occasionally, this can cause damage to the discs, which will also need to be replaced.
- Front Differential:
A drone or whining noise most noticeable at constant speeds can be caused by dry bearings in the differential. If silver filings are present in the oil, the gears are wearing, and the differential needs replacing. It is essential to ensure the vehicle is serviced properly and regularly.
- Timing Chain Issues:
The 5L v8 engine in the Range Rover Sport 2010 has timing chain issues. If the timing chain hasn't been replaced, it is advisable to avoid vehicles from 2010-2013. After replacing the timing chain, air suspension compressor, brakes, tires, and performing minor maintenance, a 2010 LR4 HSE can ride like a dream.
- Air Suspension Issues:
The Range Rover Sport 2010 is known for air suspension issues, especially in the rear quarters of the Range Rover and the front control arm bushings in the LR4. These issues can lead to expensive repairs and should be considered before purchasing a used Range Rover Sport 2010.
- Electric Components:
Other common issues include unreliable electric components, short brake life, and poor fuel mileage. These problems can add to the overall cost of ownership and should be factored into the decision-making process when considering purchasing a Range Rover Sport 2010.
In summary, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2010 has several common problems related to the engine, suspension, and electrical components. Potential buyers should be aware of these issues and consider the costs of repairs and maintenance before making a purchase decision.

We've had the pleasure of owning several Range Rovers since 2005. Although we've let some go, we've held onto our 2010 Range Rover, which has become a beloved member of our family. It's incredibly reliable, handles the toughest Northeast snow conditions with ease, and can easily go another 200,000 miles. We recently parted ways with our 2015 model for a Mercedes G550, but the 2010 remains our go-to vehicle. We believe that the newer models, including the 2022 Range Rover, are too precious to replace our trusty 2010. In fact, we think the 2010 was the best of the modern versions (2010-12) before the refreshed body. As a side note, we recently purchased a rebuilt 1990 Defender, which has deepened our love for Land Rover vehicles. We're even planning a trip to South Africa soon, inspired by the brand's heritage. There's truly nothing like a Range Rover or Classic Defender. We only wish that Land Rover had followed Mercedes' lead in refreshing their iconic G Wagon and kept the body style and performance of the original Defender. As you can tell, we absolutely love these vehicles!

Just purchased vehicle therefore too early to determine reliability. First impression is a great vehicle. Smooth, quite, plenty of power and fun to drive. The interior is very classy and I cannot wait to go on long trips to Colorado. More to follow after a few months of ownership.

I really enjoy the look, sound, and feel of this machine. It has quickly become my favorite vehicle, providing an exhilarating experience that is hard to match. Even my toes tingle when I hit the throttle! It has exceeded all of my expectations, surpassing even my previous vehicles, including a Mercedes SL500 and a Cadillac Escalade EXT. While I am not currently concerned with reliability, I do acknowledge that this is an expensive and demanding ride. Recently, it required an update to the computer, and I was disappointed to have to drive a loaner HSE in the meantime. However, when I saw my gorgeous Rover heading my way, I couldn't help but feel excited. Hello, darling!

I really like this vehicle. Although the engine can be difficult to control, especially for a teen driver, I still think it's a great choice for everyday use. There are some reliability issues, such as problems with the gearbox, but I enjoy driving it around town. The fuel economy isn't great, but the Supercharged engine is definitely worth it. I would recommend buying it used. My parents got it for me when it only had 2,000 miles on it. I considered other options like the GL450 (but the front grille of the 550 bothered me), the X6 M, or the E63 AMG Wagon. However, I ultimately chose the Range Rover because it has the most prestige, luxury, and advanced technology.

This car is truly luxurious and safe. I'm so glad you still love it!

I have experienced several issues with the electrical and BlueTooth systems in my Rover, which have required multiple visits to the dealer. The speakers have been rattling and the BlueTooth has had a lot of static and dropped calls, leading me to unlink my phone. Additionally, the phone system has caused issues where my callers could not hear me, and I had to speak through my cell. The camera has also had occasional issues, but these have been resolved through scheduled service. Finally, the driver settings clear out every time I exit the car. Despite these issues, the car is still a beautiful and enjoyable ride.

This car is great for city driving, but unfortunately it falls short in terms of reliability and handling rough terrain. However, if you're looking for a reliable and sturdy option, the G Class might be a better fit for you.

Three friends have experienced multiple issues with their vehicle, particularly with programming and electrical components. The cameras have also been malfunctioning. However, I am confident that these issues can be resolved with the right expertise and attention to detail.

I previously owned a 2003 Range Rover HSE and a 2006 Range Rover SC. I was hoping that the 2010 Range Rover would have a better overall ride, especially on concrete roads, and that the vibration in the steering wheel and seats that Land Rover couldn't seem to remedy in my 2006 RR SC would be resolved. Unfortunately, this was not the case, despite the positive reviews. These cars are used for off-roading and long trips in our household (my daughters own 2001 and 2004 Discovery's). I purchased the 2010 Range Rover, but ultimately returned it to Land Rover due to the noticeable decrease in interior quality. The interior looked and felt like that of a Range Rover Sport. The ride was soft and bouncy, making it difficult to maintain control.
