Hummer H3 2007 problems
The Hummer H3 is an off-road vehicle that was produced from 2005 to 2010 by General Motors. The smallest model of the Hummer lineup, it was offered as a 5-door SUV or a 4-door pickup truck known as the H3T. Unlike the larger H1 and H2 models, the H3 was not developed by AM General. It was introduced for the 2006 model year, based on a modified GMT355 that underpinned the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon compact pickup trucks that were also built at GM's Shreveport Operations in Shreveport, Louisiana and the Port Elizabeth plant in South Africa. While mechanically related to the Colorado and Canyon, GM claims they share only 10% of their components, with the chassis modified and reinforced for heavy off-road duties.
Powertrains
The H3 was launched with a 3.5 liter straight-5 cylinder L52 engine that produced 220 hp (160 kW) and 225 lbf⋅ft (305 N⋅m) of torque and was mated to a standard five-speed Aisin AR5 manual transmission or an optional Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission. In 2007 this engine was replaced by the 3.7 liter LLR that produced 242 hp (180 kW) and 242 lbf⋅ft (328 N⋅m) of torque, figures that were revised in 2009 to 239 hp (178 kW) and 241 lbf⋅ft (327 N⋅m). Under revised EPA testing standards when equipped with either transmission this straight-5 engine achieved 14 mpg‑US (17 L/100 km) in the city and 18 mpg‑US (13 L/100 km) on the highway with a combined average of 15 mpg‑US (16 L/100 km).
Available solely with the 4L60-E automatic transmission, a 5.3 liter LH8 V8 engine producing 300 hp (224 kW) and 320 lbf⋅ft (434 N⋅m) of torque was added in 2008 for the Alpha model. The V8 version had lower fuel economy, estimated at 13 mpg‑US (18 L/100 km) in the city, 16 mpg‑US (15 L/100 km) on the highway, with a combined average of 14 mpg‑US (17 L/100 km).
In 2007, a H3X edition was added. It included the luxury package, 18-inch chrome wheels with unique center caps, chrome trim, chrome tube steps, a body-colored grille and a hard tire cover. The H3X also came with exclusive colors of Sonoma Red Metallic or Desert Orange Metallic.

Common Hummer H3 2007 problems
The Hummer H3, produced from 2005 to 2010, has some common problems that owners have reported. These issues span across various components, including the engine, transmission, and HVAC system.
One major problem is the issue of worn valve seats, which has affected numerous Hummer owners. This issue typically arises around 93,430 miles on average, primarily affecting Hummer models from the 2006, 2007, and 2008 model years, including the popular Hummer H3. The worn valve seats cause engine misfires, which can be indicated by the check engine light. Fixing this problem usually requires replacing the cylinder head, with the diagnosis and testing costing between $80 and $150.
Another common problem is the Hummer HVAC and air delivery failure. This issue involves improper HVAC temperature and air delivery problems that typically start around a mileage of 118,227. The problem is particularly prevalent in Hummer H2s from the 2003-2009 model years. Consumer comments call out effects such as a lack of cool air when the AC is turned on, air blowing out only through defrost vents, and hot air blowing in rather than cool air. Diagnosis and repair of this issue can be complicated, with the diagnosis alone costing around $100. The total cost of the repair tends closer to $150-$200 or more, depending on the repair shop and whether drivers choose to have the problem fixed at a dealership.
The automatic transmissions in the Hummer H3 are also prone to slip and develop rough shifting conditions. As these problems worsen, the end result is complete transmission failure. This issue is not specific to a particular model year or engine type, indicating a broader design or manufacturing flaw in the transmission system
The front wheel bearings in the Hummer H3 tend to become noisy and develop available play before the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles, especially in lifted hummers with larger than OEM wheels and tires. This issue can be more pronounced in off-road conditions and may require replacement of the wheel bearings to resolve
The power steering pump and 3.5-liter 5-cylinder engines in the Hummer H3 are prone to fail at low mileage. This issue can be particularly problematic for drivers who rely on power steering for maneuverability and safety, and may require replacement of the power steering pump to resolve
The TPMS sensors in the Hummer H3 are failure prone. When they malfunction, they cause a DPMS light to illuminate on the dashboard. This issue can be resolved by replacing the faulty TPMS sensors with new ones
The sunroof drain tubes in the Hummer H3 are prone to get clogged, causing rainwater to leak inside the vehicle. This issue can be resolved by cleaning or replacing the clogged sunroof drain tubes to ensure proper water flow and prevent leaks
In summary, the Hummer H3 has several common problems that owners have reported, including worn valve seats, HVAC and air delivery failure, transmission slippage and failure, front wheel bearing noise, power steering pump failure, TPMS sensor malfunctions, and clogged sunroof drain tubes. These issues can affect the performance, safety, and comfort of the vehicle, and may require costly repairs to resolve.
Do Hummer H3 have problems?
Many owners have complained that the valves in their H3's cylinder head started leaking at about 87, 750 miles. Some reported that their engine started to misfire multiple times. Several 2006 Hummer H3 drivers found out that their SUV was burning oil when they brought it to a repair shop.
How long will a 2007 Hummer H3 last?
300,000 to 500,000 miles
If it is properly maintained, a Hummer will typically last 300,000 to 500,000 miles. Many have run over 300,000 miles on their H2s or H3 and are planning to drive the vehicle until the fuel becomes gold.
Do Hummer H3 have transmission problems?
One of the most common Hummer H3 transmission problems is the complete failure of 3rd and/or 4th gear. This happens because one or more of the metal clutch discs inside the 4L60E 3-4 clutch pack can fail prematurely and prevent the transmission from engaging those gears.
How many miles can you put on a 2007 Hummer H3?
Hummer H3 is nearly as popular and durable as the models before it. And by looking at the ling life of the previous hummers, you can easily say that this one would perform the same. However, H3 is rated for 300,000 miles by the company.

SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-12-21
- VIN: 5GTDN13E978
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: The problem was unknown to me and probably would be to any vehicle owner that is not a mechanic. I was driving a death trap and didn't know how easily it could have been a serious problem. The driver side leaf spring bracket had completely broke apart from the frame on the upper drive side corner in an area that without getting underneath the vehicle with a flashlight and specifically looking for would be impossible to see. The only reason I know about it now is because I took it for an inspection and it failed due to this structural defect which the technician informed me was a very common issue with the 2007 H3 vehicles. He said that if I had been on a highway at 65/70 mph and this thing broke completely free the axle would swing out behind the vehicle on the drive side and cause an uncontrollable crash that could lead to severe injury and possibly death

STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-28
- VIN: 5GTDN13E278
- Components: STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: So the part that is a malfunction is the rear doors weren’t made with any child lock and of course one of my kids opened the door while i was driving on the highway.I have a 3 and 5 year old and it scared me so bad I had to hurry and pull the hummer over and park and just held my son. I couldn’t even drive after that because of how bad it traumatized me. My mom had to come get and take me and my kids home and drive my hummer back home. Even though we didn’t crash or one of my kids didn’t fall out.it’s still a very serious safety hazard. I reached out to gm to see what my options were and there response was how gm made child locks in 2007 and up and that’s not the truth because mine is a 2007 and it clearly doesn’t have child locks. Then they later proceeded to tell me I should just sell my vehicle. I was so upset because if one of my kids would have fallen out and something happened I would do everything in my power to make sure they were held accountable and file a lawsuit against them. Yes The vehicle is available to inspect. My kids safety was at risk and then me braking and pulling off the highway in panic mode could have caused an accident.it’s been reported to gm and also local dealers. There was no warning just when it happened scared me so bad because my kids are in my back seat. The photos I uploaded are of the transcribed voicemails and I’m willing to also submit the voicemails from gm as well.
