2011 Land rover Range rover problems
The Land Rover Range Rover, generally shortened to Range Rover, is a 4x4 luxury SUV produced by Land Rover, a marque and sub-brand of Jaguar Land Rover. The Range Rover line was launched in 1970 by British Leyland and is now in its fifth generation.
Additional models have been launched under the Range Rover name, including the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar.
History
The Rover Company (originator of the Land Rover marque) was experimenting with a larger model than the Land Rover Series in 1951, when the Rover P4-based two-wheel-drive "Road Rover" project was developed by Gordon Bashford. This was shelved in 1958 and the idea lay dormant until 1966, when engineers Spen King and Bashford set to work on a new model.
The first Range Rover prototype was built in 1967 with plate number SYE 157F. The design of the Range Rover was finalised in 1969. Twenty-six Velar-badged engineering development vehicles were built between 1969 and 1970 and were road registered with the number plates YVB151H through to YVB177H.
Though being chassis no. 3, YVB 153H is believed to have been the first off the production line as a vehicle in that colour was urgently required for marketing. (The Range Rover with chassis no. 1 was a green model with the registration "YVB 151H", and is now on exhibition at Huddersfield Land Rover Centre, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire). The Velar name was derived from the Italian "velare" meaning to veil or to cover. Range Rover development engineer Geof Miller used the name as a decoy for registering pre-production Range Rovers. The Velar company was registered in London and produced 40 pre-production vehicles that were built between 1967 and 1970.
The Range Rover was launched in 1970. In the early 1970s, the Musée du Louvre in Paris exhibited a Range Rover as an "exemplary work of industrial design".
In 1971, ex-Cream drummer Ginger Baker used the unproven Range Rover to drive from Algeria to Lagos, Nigeria, to set up a recording studio and jam with Fela Kuti. Predating the Paris-Dakar rally the subsequent documentary is replete with such terrain, documenting the vehicle's endurance.
In 1972, the British Trans-Americas Expedition became the first vehicle-based expedition to traverse the Americas from north to south, including traversing the roadless Darién Gap. The specially modified Range Rovers used for this expedition are now on display in the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust collection at Gaydon, Warwickshire.
Range Rover sub-brands have been launched. In 2004, Land Rover debuted the Range Rover Sport, based on the Land Rover Discovery platform. Later models received the latest Range Rover platform. In 2011 came the Range Rover Evoque, and in 2017 the Range Rover Velar (re-using the name of the very first, pre-production Range Rovers).

Common 2011 Land rover Range rover problems
The 2011 Land Rover Range Rover is known for several common problems, including issues with the air suspension, timing chain, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves, hand brake, and front differential.
- Air Suspension: The air suspension system is a common issue in the 2011 Range Rover. The air bags and struts at all four corners can fail, as can the air compressor in the spare tire wheel well that supplies the air.
- Timing Chain: The timing chain is another major problem in the 2011 Range Rover. Between 80k-125k miles, the timing chain and tensioners may need to be replaced, which can cost between $5k-$8k if done by a professional.
- EGR Valves: The EGR valves, which are fitted to most modern vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions, can cause heavy black smoke, loss of power, poor running, and high fuel consumption if they become faulty.
- Hand Brake: A loud screeching or the handbrake not releasing properly can be caused by the handbrake shoes collapsing or one of the mechanisms breaking.
- Front Differential: A drone or whining noise most noticeable at constant speeds can be caused by dry bearings in the differential.
These common problems can make the 2011 Land Rover Range Rover an expensive vehicle to maintain, especially if not caught and addressed early. Regular servicing and maintenance are crucial to keep these issues at bay and ensure the vehicle remains safe and reliable.
What is the most common problem with Range Rovers?
And the Range Rover is no exception. Three in older models faulty fuel sending units are a fairly common report this leads to inaccurate fuel gauge readings which are fairly stressful.
How many miles can a 2011 Range Rover last?
The Good. With detailed maintenance, routine servicing, and good driving habits, a Range Rover can last between 150,000 and 200,000 miles. This works out to be about ten to thirteen years of service before it requires repairs or breaks down.
Is the Land Rover Range Rover a reliable car?

The top of the spoiler and bottom portion of the spoiler has an open gap between the top and bottom portions of the spoiler. The bottom portion hangs and covers nearly half my rear view camera, obstructing my view when attempting to use the rear camera. ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-08-01
- VIN: SALSK2D44BA
- Components: ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: At the beginning of the year my car started going into limp mode and shutting down. I had it inspected and the purge valve was faulty and I paid to have it replaced in august 2021. In the past month it’s started dying while driving, mostly as I’m pulling up to a stoplight. The engine will sputter and it will completely die while the car is in drive which means I loose controll of the steering wheel even while it’s still moving. I just had it inspected and it’s the same issue, the purge valve I’ve just replaced is stuck closed. So this will be the 3rd purge valve this car has had in a 4 month period. I’m afraid this is going to cause me to have an accident and it’s the same thing over and over so it sounds like it’s a faulty part.

- VIN: SALSK2D40BA

- Summary: SAFETY RECALL N623: Gasoline Fuel Tank Flange Assembly Cracking WHY is this recall not showing when I enter my VIN number here? Vehicle was towed back to house November 24th, 2021 after discovering it was leaking gas all over the Walmart parking lot. I have been smelling gas inside the vehicle and on the outside passenger side of the vehicle for almost 2 months! I saw no visible evidence to prompt concern until November 24th. When I called AAA to have the car towed they asked me to call 911 to clear the car from “risk of explosion” before it could be towed. I have been trying to call the Land Rover dealership to get my car in for this repair and they can’t get me in until the end of January!?! How is this acceptable!? I’ve been driving this car around like this for two months.. possibly longer.. with my TODDLER! And I’m being told by AAA, my mobile mechanic and this ‘Safety Recall Letter’ that the car is at risk of explosion!? I have the “Important Safety Recall” letter in my hands right now that outlines my exact issue and it literally says.. “there could be liquid fuel underneath the vehicle, which in the presence of an ignition source could lead to a fire.” This is unacceptable! I don’t have a vehicle now. I can’t work. Not working isn’t an option. Not having a reliable and safe vehicle I can count on isn’t an option. I can’t get my car in for the necessary repairs in a timely manner. I’m just stuck. There is no ideal time for this issue to arise but right before Christmas!? I can’t even think of the appropriate words to communicate the level of havoc and life f**kery this is causing. I’m literally here reporting this issue because of the letter I received and now I’m infuriated this recall isn’t even listed on y’all’s website. Who sends out an “Important Safety Recall” letter that casually mentions the car could catch on fire and then just doesn’t put the recall into full effect!? What’s my next step? Attorney. What’s y’all’s?

Our Range Rover has been an absolute joy to drive, providing us with 198,000 miles of worry-free adventures. Despite being driven extensively in the snow and mud of Vermont, the interior and exterior still look as good as new. This go-anywhere vehicle is not only luxurious and quiet, but also incredibly dependable, requiring much less maintenance than our previous Lexus. We've owned three Land Rover products, and in all cases, we've reached 200K+ miles without any major issues. Warning: Once you experience a Range Rover, you'll never want to go back! It's no wonder that Range Rover has the highest level of brand loyalty in the car industry.

I really like this vehicle. Although the engine can be difficult to control, especially for a teen driver, I still think it's a great choice for everyday use. There are some reliability issues, such as problems with the gearbox, but I enjoy driving it around town. The fuel economy isn't great, but the Supercharged engine is definitely worth it. I would recommend buying it used. My parents got it for me when it only had 2,000 miles on it. I considered other options like the GL450 (but the front grille of the 550 bothered me), the X6 M, or the E63 AMG Wagon. However, I ultimately chose the Range Rover because it has the most prestige, luxury, and advanced technology.

Hi there! I've been driving the Car for almost a month now and have already put more than 897 miles on it. So far, I haven't had any problems with it. As expected with Land Rovers, the fuel economy isn't great, but that's not a big surprise. On the plus side, the Bluetooth wireless phone is easy to connect to. However, some people have mentioned that they find it difficult to hear me when I call them.

We've had the pleasure of owning several Range Rovers since 2005. Although we've let some go, we've held onto our 2010 Range Rover, which has become a beloved member of our family. It's incredibly reliable, handles the toughest Northeast snow conditions with ease, and can easily go another 200,000 miles. We recently parted ways with our 2015 model for a Mercedes G550, but the 2010 remains our go-to vehicle. We believe that the newer models, including the 2022 Range Rover, are too precious to replace our trusty 2010. In fact, we think the 2010 was the best of the modern versions (2010-12) before the refreshed body. As a side note, we recently purchased a rebuilt 1990 Defender, which has deepened our love for Land Rover vehicles. We're even planning a trip to South Africa soon, inspired by the brand's heritage. There's truly nothing like a Range Rover or Classic Defender. We only wish that Land Rover had followed Mercedes' lead in refreshing their iconic G Wagon and kept the body style and performance of the original Defender. As you can tell, we absolutely love these vehicles!
-
This car is truly luxurious and safe. I'm so glad you still love it!

Hey there! Just wanted to give you a heads up that Range Rovers can have pretty high maintenance costs. You'll probably need to replace the brakes and tires every 20 to 30k miles, which can add up. My dealership mentioned that this is pretty normal, but I wanted to make sure you were aware. Let me know if you have any questions!

I have experienced several issues with the electrical and BlueTooth systems in my Rover, which have required multiple visits to the dealer. The speakers have been rattling and the BlueTooth has had a lot of static and dropped calls, leading me to unlink my phone. Additionally, the phone system has caused issues where my callers could not hear me, and I had to speak through my cell. The camera has also had occasional issues, but these have been resolved through scheduled service. Finally, the driver settings clear out every time I exit the car. Despite these issues, the car is still a beautiful and enjoyable ride.

Hi there! I recently purchased my first RR and while I was expecting a bit more luxury for the price, I must admit that the power is quite impressive. However, I did notice that the gear change can be a bit delayed when you need the power. Ultimately, I decided to give the car to my wife and keep my 2006 Cadillac STS 4W 8V. I was also a bit disappointed with the sound system, as I've heard better in cars that cost around $20,000. It's important to make sure your service dealer has a good understanding of client satisfaction, as I've found that many RR dealers are too busy to provide adequate care. Thanks for listening!

Three friends have experienced multiple issues with their vehicle, particularly with programming and electrical components. The cameras have also been malfunctioning. However, I am confident that these issues can be resolved with the right expertise and attention to detail.
