ERAD was designed to reduce CO2 emissions by an average of 20% under the NEDC test cycle and was expected to offer another 10% reduction in extra-urban driving situations while also optimizing the off-road ability of the vehicle. Land Rover aimed to achieve 120 g/km CO2 emissions and fuel economy of 60 mpg‑imp (4.7 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑US) on the European combined cycle with an efficient 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine based on PSA DW12. The engine would become the only four-cylinder vehicle in the Range Rover lineup.

This is an excellent SUV, but it's important to know what you're buying. It's not a large car and, like all Land Rover vehicles I've had before, it has quirks. However, the interior finish and quality are very refined, with a nice use of leather and other materials. The exterior styling is better than any other SUV on the road. The tires have Porsche-like grip and the braking is excellent, with better gas mileage than any Range Rover before. The car feels like it's supercharged! However, there are a few negatives to consider. The new flashy plastic panels used on the exterior are prone to scratching very easily and should be tougher. Even the car wash scratches them without the use of brushes. The leather doesn't look like it will hold up like previous Range Rovers, and the car needs a bigger cargo area. Options can add up quickly, so it's important to keep an eye on the price. The SUV should come in under 49k with options in the next generation, as without doing so really makes the value proposition hard to support. Note that the car should be broken in so that it is reliable. You can't drive too aggressively for the first 1500 miles, as the brakes and engine won't be smooth.

UPDATE TO REVIEW 6-5-17: Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my Evoque. Since the dealership completely rewired my car, I have not had any electronic issues. It took a while to get there, but the car now appears to be reliable. It continues to be a pleasure to drive now that it is working properly. I really love my Evoque! It's super comfortable and has so many hi-tech features that put this car in a class by itself. The high beams turn on and off by themselves when they sense a dark road, which is amazing! The connectivity to my iPhone is seamless and my music plays effortlessly through the radio. The rear window is small, but you get used to it right away. Overall, it's a great vehicle. However, I did have some issues with the build quality. My car came with a leak in the AC and spent 10 days in the shop. Then, the entire radio system went out. Got that fixed, too. Then, the map in the nav screen disappeared and it seemed that the car was incorrectly wired. When fixing that, we discovered that half the speakers were not connected. The sound was always terrible and suddenly it was like a symphony. Then the AC lost power (on a 110 degree day of course). More wiring issues. Kudos to my dealer who essentially rebuilt my car. Since then, it has worked like a dream but I have never had such a poorly built car. The factory in England where this vehicle is assembled should be ashamed of themselves. I suppose if yours is built right, you'll have a worry-free ownership experience but I was not so lucky. They do give you a Land Rover or Jaguar loaner so it could be worse, but I'd much prefer they learn how to build a better vehicle. In balance, I still love my Evoque, which says something considering my repair history. Thanks for listening!

Bought the 2 door with 2200 miles. I'm happy to report that I haven't had any issues or complaints. It drives great, feels great, and looks great. I recently brought it in for an oil change and they also did a software upgrade. I'll keep you posted if anything changes!

The Evoque is a really enjoyable car to drive. It has a great look both inside and out. The ride is comfortable for the most part, although it struggles with larger bumps. It's a fantastic handling SUV. In mixed driving, I get around 21 miles per gallon, although the on-board computer claims it's 23. The transmission has 9 speeds, and while it can take a moment to find the right gear in comfort mode, it's much more responsive in sport mode. The paddle shifters work really well. While I wouldn't recommend it as a family SUV due to its size, it's perfect for just one person or a couple. The panoramic sunroof is a fantastic feature, especially at night or when the weather is cooler. The stereo and navigation controls could use some improvement as they can be slow to react to touch. However, the climate system is excellent. Overall, after a month and a thousand miles, I'm really happy with the Evoque. While it could use some updates in the electronics department and better gas mileage, I just love driving it!

The 2 litre turbo engine sounds like it provides plenty of power when you need it. While the rear window may have a restricted view, it's good to know that you still feel safe while driving. The 9 gear automatic gearbox is impressive, allowing the engine to rev to only 1700 revs at 100kph. The car's handling and turning circle are also noteworthy. Firstly, I must say that this car looks great and it's a rare sight on the road, which makes me feel special while driving it. Additionally, it handles snow and ice quite well, which is a big plus. However, there are some downsides to it. It's a bit small and the trunk can't be closed from inside the car. The navigation system is not up to the mark and has led me to dead ends on multiple occasions. The front seats lack lumbar support and the rear window is too small. The transmission can be jerky at times. The front console is also a bit small and there are too many controls on the steering wheel that can be distracting while driving. On the downside, the car requires new front and rear brakes and tires after only 25k miles, which is quite disappointing. The cost of routine maintenance is also quite high and the excessive number of software updates required is unheard of and takes a lot of time. If you don't want to spend a lot of time and money at the service center, it might be better to consider other options.

I bought my Evoque brand new in February 2015. Since then, it has had a software update (at 1200 miles) to improve transmission performance. Unfortunately, the check engine light came on at around 2K miles due to a faulty sensor that took several days to repair because the part was unavailable. On August 1st, while in traffic, the transmission froze up and the vehicle rapidly decelerated with the dashboard warning indicating 'Gear Box Failure', resulting in the vehicle being towed. Land Rover corporate claims they have since resolved the problem with another software update, however, I have not had the opportunity to drive the car yet, 33 days later. While the dealership was addressing another issue - freeze up problem with the touch screen interface - the computer module blew out. After 33 days, the part has finally come in. Although the vehicle gets good mileage when working, the transmission is very sluggish in the lower gears, and power is very limited from a stop position, which makes pulling out into traffic a challenge. I would love to recommend this vehicle, but the amount of problems and poor transmission and acceleration make this a poor and hazardous vehicle to own. I have never experienced a new vehicle with so many issues in such a short period. Land Rover Corporate's attitude has been less than overwhelming. I am extremely disappointed in the vehicle and the corporation.

I purchased the Evoque in a hurry as we were relocating to the mountains and I required a four-wheel drive. I regret not doing any research beforehand! Hopefully, my reviews will help someone else. We were fortunate enough to purchase the Evoque used with 20,000 miles and a 50,000-mile warranty. To cut a long story short, at 36,000 miles, we had to replace the front and rear brakes, as well as the battery. Additionally, after having it for only one week, I experienced the same gear box fault that another reviewer mentioned, which resulted in it being towed! Fortunately, I was not in traffic like the other reviewer. Unfortunately, they informed me that they cannot obtain the part for a month, and I still do not have it back. I am truly shocked by the entire situation. I believed that Land Rover was a reputable brand, as I see them everywhere. If I ever get it back, I will dispose of it immediately, of course, and at a significant loss!

Let me start by saying how much I love this car! It's super stylish and comfortable, and the design is just wonderful. The vehicle is full of thoughtful additions, and as a daily driver, it really shines. The electronics are workable, but could be improved. Off-road, this car is amazing, and even though it doesn't have a low transfer case, it's extremely capable. However, clearance can be an issue, especially when the car is loaded up with camping equipment. The 4wd system is easy to use and very effective. We've driven it on all kinds of terrain, from mud-ruts to snow, and it's been unbelievable. Now, onto the cons. The cost of ownership is a bit of a letdown, and I suspect this is true for the entire Land Rover/Range Rover range. Unless you're a millionaire with lots of time or someone to look after your cars, you're going to get frustrated. The car always seems to need to go into the shop for something, and getting it serviced is a nightmare. On our last road trip, we had to have it serviced between trips due to a check engine light, and then the light came on again during the second trip. Unfortunately, getting a service appointment took nearly two months, and each service always took way too long. The previous service took a week, and they didn't even look at the vehicle for nearly three days. Overall, though, I still love this car and would recommend it to anyone who can handle the cost of ownership and the occasional service headache.Why not book it in for work when you can fulfill the request in a timely manner? Additionally, the cost can be quite high. If you can average out of service costs for less than $1,000, you are lucky! However, my experience is not unique. I was talking to another owner in particular who really started to make me think about changing. He said, 'When you own a Land Rover/Range Rover, you need to buy two - one for the repair shop while you drive the other and vice versa.'

I had some issues with my HSE from the very beginning. Unfortunately, it was the only vehicle I've ever owned that had engine problems and had to be towed back to the dealer. It even failed on me in the worst possible conditions (-27c). Although the vehicle looks cool and gets compliments, it's unreliable, noisy inside the cabin, and expensive to maintain. I didn't feel comfortable driving it on the highway for routine driving, so I decided to take a loss and switch to a Volvo instead.
