The Land Rover Discovery is a series of seven-seater family SUVs, produced under the Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. Space utilization became more sophisticated in later iterations, but the series keeps offering seats for seven occupants. Despite originally being sold as an affordable alternative to the Range Rover, the Discovery has also progressively moved upmarket through its successive generations to become a bonafide luxury SUV.
The second Discovery (1998) was called the Series II, and though featuring an extended rear body, was otherwise an updated facelift, which carried on the 100 in (2,540 mm) wheelbase frame and rigid, live front and rear axles of the original Range Rover into 2004.
The third iteration – succeeding the series I and II in 2004 - was either titled the Discovery 3 or simply LR3 (in North America and the Middle East). This was the first all-original design for the Discovery. Although it followed the 2002 third generation Range Rover, also switching to fully independent suspension, it still received a separate, but integrated body and frame (IBF) structure. The fourth iteration, as of 2009 – like the series II, was again mainly an update of the new generation – marketed as the Discovery 4, or Land Rover LR4 for North American and Middle Eastern markets.
The fifth iteration of the Discovery, introduced in 2017, no longer sports a numeric suffix. Unlike the previous two generations, it now benefits from a unitized body structure, making it lighter than its predecessor.

If I did not contact the fire alarm, this would be a serious event. Fire is even a direct safety accident in driving. I request to report the accident and ask the dealer to bear the repair costs and all losses caused by the accident damage.

- Summary: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2010-2013 Range Rover Sport and 2010-2016 LR4 vehicles equipped with 3.0L V6 or 5.0L V8 engines. The fuel outlet flange mounted on the fuel tank may crack, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.
- Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel outlet flange, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed October 7, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2022. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N623.

I'm so excited to share that I own an LR4! This car is absolutely amazing, packed with so many options and amenities that make it feel like a luxury vehicle. I even test drove a Mercedes ML350 at the same price point, but it didn't come close to the LR4 in terms of features and options. I'm extremely happy with my decision and would highly recommend this car to anyone. While I was initially concerned about reliability, the LR4 feels incredibly solid when you're behind the wheel. Even though I may never take it off-roading, it's reassuring to know that it's capable of handling any situation. Don't hesitate to visit your nearest dealership and take one for a spin!

I drove up from Virginia Beach to Richmond VA on 11/7/09 and purchased a LR4 LUX. The recent Nor'easter here in Virginia Beach was quite challenging, but the LR4 made us feel safe and comfortable while driving through the heavy rains and floods. I prioritized my family's safety over the low mpg, and the LR4 did not disappoint. My wife and kids were able to see everything clearly and the ride was simply amazing. I am so glad that I chose the LR4 over other options like the Q7, GL-450/320, and LX470. The car is very well designed and can comfortably seat 7 adults. If you are considering buying a Land Rover in the mid-atlantic region, I highly recommend visiting Richmond Land Rover. In fact, I am already looking into a possible 2011 Range Rover for my wife so that I can get her LR4 for myself next year.

I think you made an excellent choice with your car purchase! It handles snow like a dream and is incredibly comfortable. The stereo is fantastic and it's a blast to drive. You've had the LR4 for 3 months now and it sounds like you've been having a blast driving it! It's great to hear that it's been handling well on all sorts of terrain, from mountains to highways. The air suspension is a really nice feature that makes getting in and out of the car a breeze. It's a shame that a diesel engine isn't offered, but the V8 gas engine still has some good pick-up despite being a bit thirsty at 14.5 mpg. The off-road performance is truly impressive. The only downside seems to be the NAV unit, which could use some improvement in terms of smaller street coverage and the need to agree every time the display is turned on. Overall, it sounds like the LR4 is a fantastic multipurpose vehicle that's comfortable, roomy, and has all the creature comforts you could need.

I've had my LR4 for two and a half months now and I absolutely love it! The driving experience is fantastic, much better than the previous model. It's incredibly smooth and comfortable, with everything laid out perfectly for the driver. The cargo room is great and it comfortably seats seven people. The visibility is excellent, making it easy to drive and park. While the fuel economy isn't the best, this vehicle can go anywhere! It's a breeze to drive on the beach and handles snow with ease. If you're looking for a luxurious 7-passenger vehicle that can go anywhere, this is the perfect choice. I'm extremely pleased with my LR4!

I can confidently say that the vehicle I owned for 2 days and 30 miles had extensive rusting on every piece of metal, including the brake disc. The rust was not limited to the contact area, which is typically the first to rust when exposed to water. Upon inspection, it was evident that the vehicle had been exposed to harsh conditions, resembling that of a salt bath.

We initially loved this vehicle. The clean look and superior drive, compared to the LR3 series, make it a great choice. The seats are reasonably comfortable, and while some controls for navigation/cameras/DVD can be a bit cumbersome, they are learnable. Unfortunately, we did experience some issues with the check engine light and impaired performance warning light flashing. The dealership took 3 weeks to install the backordered injector, and even after that, the service engine light was on before my wife left the lot. This experience has left us concerned about the reliability of the vehicle.
