1995 Jeep Cherokee problems
The Jeep Cherokee is a line of SUVs manufactured and marketed by Jeep over five generations.
Marketed initially as a variant of the Jeep Wagoneer, the Cherokee has evolved from a full-size SUV to one of the first compact SUVs and into its current generation as a crossover SUV.
Named after the Cherokee tribe of Native Americans in the United States, Jeep has used the nameplate in some capacity since late 1973 when American Motors Corporation introduced the 1974 model year line.

- Summary: DEAR SIRS, I HAVE DISCOVERED A VERY DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL HAZARD THAT IS OCCURRING ON ALL THE 1990'S JEEP CHEROKEE SE MODELS. ON THE 4.0 LITER 242 CUBIC INCH MODELS, THE DASHBOARD SWITCH THAT CONTROLS THE AIRFLOW AFTER ONLY A FEW YEARS OF USE SHORTS OUT MELTING AND CAUSING A SEVERE DANGER PROBLEM. WHEN THIS BROWN PLUG MELTS IT ALSO SHORTS OUT THE 30 AMP FUSE THAT IS CONNECTED TO THIS AREA. AFTER INVESTIGATING SEVERAL OF THESE SAME MODELS IT IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FAULT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. CAN YOU PLEASE TAKE SOME CORRECTIVE ACTION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED FROM THIS? THE NEXT EMAIL WILL SHOW AN EXAMPLE OF TWO DIFFERENT 1990'S JEEP CHEROKEE'S WITH SEVERAL PICS AND BOTH VEHICLE'S V.I.N.# INFORMATION. MY 1995 JEEP WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW BY MY LATE FATHER AND AFTER 23 YEARS OF USE IT ONLY HAS 113K ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. THIS JEEP REMAINS A STRONG GARAGE KEPT O.E.M. MATCHING NUMBERS #3 CAR NOT A #1 CONCOURS. I AM AFRAID IF I USE THE SWITCH SOONER OR LATER IT WILL CATCH ON FIRE AS A RESULT OF THIS FLAW DESIGN. I HAVE EVERY MAINTENANCE RECEIPT INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL SALES STICKER AND ALL DOCUMENTS FROM ITS BIRTH IN 1995. THE VEHICLE SINCE BIRTH HAS HAD ZERO MODIFICATIONS DONE TO IT AND HAS BEEN KEPT IN IT'S ORIGINAL CONDITION JUST AS IT ROLLED OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE IN 1995. ON JUNE 10, 2018 AT 9.15 PM E.S.T. I SPOKE TO A CUSTOMER CARE JEEP REP AT 877-426-5337 WHO DID ISSUE A CASE # FOR THIS OF 345-103-88. SHE DID ADVISE IT WILL BE SENT UP THRU THE COMPANY'S CHAIN OF COMMUNICATION. I AM HOPING JEEP USA WILL TAKE NOTE OF THIS AND FOLLOW UP AS I DO NOT WANT TO LOOSE MY JEEP THAT IS AND HAS BEEN A KEEPSAKE SACRED FAMILY HEIRLOOM THAT MUST BE PASSED ON. I CAN ONLY HOPE AND PRAY THAT NOBODY ELSE HAS ALREADY HAD SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH AS A RESULT OF THIS DESIGN FLAW. *JS

This small to midsize family workhorse is all about convenience and vehicle utility. Whether you're planning to go off-road or stay on, this vehicle is perfect for an economical family's needs for safety, fun, and small truck type needs. It made me appreciate backroads, where I can get away from the stressful highways where the 'Consumer Report BestBuys' clog the road. I tend to get where I'm going in the same time or better anyway, but with a smile on my face. Our kids love riding in this vehicle because they can see the view better than in a sedan.

I really enjoyed my Jeepster! It was always in pristine condition, both inside and out. However, after 8 years of ownership, I encountered an oil leak that required a costly fix of $800. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of a series of mechanical issues, including problems with the radiator, water pump, and rod bearings. The cost of fixing the rod bearings alone was estimated at $2000 plus labor, while the dealership in Central Florida quoted me a staggering $4300. Given that the Jeep was only worth $3300, I had to carefully consider whether it was worth investing more time and money into it. As much as I loved my Jeep, I couldn't help but wonder if fixing it would only lead to more issues down the line, such as with the A/C. What would you do in my situation?

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 1995 Jeep 4wd. I purchased it used with 100,000 miles and now have 132,000 miles on it. I've had to replace the rotor cap button, spark plugs, oxygen and crank sensor at 128,000 miles, but overall I've been very pleased with its performance and low maintenance. The previous owner, who happened to be my next door neighbor, also had a great experience with the Jeep and had it for approximately 70,000 miles. Thanks for listening!

This car runs and looks great! It's definitely worth the money. It handles well and I've never had a problem with it. Treat it well and it will take care of you.

The only issue I've had is that the mount which holds the rearview mirror fell off, even though it was garage kept. Despite having 69,000 miles, the interior is immaculate and the exterior paint and body look as good as new. In contrast, my previous 95' Dodge Neon had a huge crack in the dash! So far, there are no signs of any possible damage to the dash or anything else. The Jeep is very peppy and, more importantly, has excellent handling, which makes it fun to drive! I highly recommend this vehicle.

I bought this Jeep back in 1999 when it had 63k miles on it. Since then, I've driven it for over 100k miles, taking it cross country twice, up and down the East coast, and throughout the Southwest. While it can be a bit harsh over rough roads, it handles surprisingly well and is very nimble. Over the years, I've had to replace a few parts like water pumps, a radiator, wheel hubs, and a starter, but overall it has proven to be quite resilient. Although there are some creaks and rattles, and the paint and some of the exterior bits are fading, it always starts up without fail. The worst issues I've had are consistent oil leaks that have been difficult to fix, a broken upper hinge on the driver's door, and a lower engine mount that broke around 90k miles.

We bought our Jeep two years ago from the original owners who were selling it because they bought a new Cherokee (2001 was the last year they made them). Despite having 80K on our Jeep and experiencing a few problems such as the water pump, brakes, and a broken motor mount, we still think it's a great vehicle. It's very handy and, in our opinion, sharp looking. Ours is red over silver. The ride can be quite rough, but hey, it's a Jeep, right?

I'm so glad I bought this SUV! Although I wasn't initially drawn to the vehicle, I was convinced by the positive experiences of my four friends who all own Cherokees. They have had no major problems with their Jeeps, and I managed to get mine at a great price. It's a '95 model with 75,000 miles on the clock, but it's in near-perfect condition. I'm confident that this car will last me another 75,000 miles!

Bought for my wife and she loved it, although it wasn't quite my cup of tea. It's a reliable and solid little car, but unfortunately not roomy enough for me at 6'3
