2007 Kia Sedona problems
The Kia Carnival (Korean: 기아 카니발) is a minivan manufactured by Kia since 1998. It was marketed globally under various nameplates, prominently as the Kia Sedona.
The first generation Carnival was introduced in January 1998, and was marketed in a single, short wheelbase version. Second generation models were marketed (2006–2014) in short and long wheelbase variants. A rebadged variant of the second generation was offered in North America as the Hyundai Entourage (2007–2009). Beginning in 2010, the second generation model received updated equipment, including Kia's corporate Tiger Nose grille, as introduced by its then new design chief, Peter Schreyer. Kia introduced its third generation minivan in 2014, solely in a long wheelbase format. The fourth generation was introduced in 2020, when Kia also began using the Carnival nameplate worldwide.
First generation (KV-II; 1998)
The first generation model was manufactured and marketed differently for specific regions, including under a joint venture in the Chinese market with Dongfeng Yueda Kia, as well as the Naza Ria in Malaysia.
In Indonesia and the Philippines, both Carnival/Sedona names were used. Initially introduced as the Carnival in 2001, from 2003 onwards, it was renamed as the Sedona.

- Summary: The contact owns a 2007 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that he initially received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V088000 (Electrical System, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). A year after the recall repair was performed, while his wife was driving 55 MPH, grayish smoke started coming from under the hood. The contact’s wife allowed the vehicle to cool down for a while and was able to restart the vehicle and drive home without further incidence. The contact, who is a mechanic, then drove the vehicle to his dealer for an inspection and discovered that water had entered the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) which caused the module to corrode. The contact also discovered that both fuses in the under-hood fuse block had blown which caused the smoke. Upon replacing the fuses, the same failure recurred with smoke coming from the engine due to the replacement fuses being blown. The contact then spoke with the dealer where the recall was performed and was provided a diagnostic fee to inspect the vehicle. The contact then reached out to the manufacturer where he was provided a case number but had not yet received a follow-up call from the manufacturer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 135,701.

- Summary: Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Sedona and 2007-2009 Sorento vehicles. Moisture may enter the Anti-lock Brake (ABS) Module and result in an electrical short.
- Consequence: An electrical short within the ABS Module may cause an engine compartment fire, even when the vehicle is turned off, increasing the risk of an injury.
- Remedy: Kia will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the HECU when the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off, free of charge. The recall began June 5, 2020. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC186.

In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may break due to corrosion from salt water exposure such as from road salt use.
- Consequence: A broken control arm can result in the loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the front lower control arms on 2006-2007 models. 2008-2012 models will either have their front lower control arms replaced or additional anti-corrosion coating will be applied. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on July 27, 2016. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC133.
- Manufacturer: Kia Motors America
- Components: LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH
- Summary: Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through April 04, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
- Consequence: If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will replace the secondary hood latch or clean and lubricate the latch, depending on the vehicle's location and the condition of the latch. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on July 27, 2016. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall number is SC134.

- Summary: Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Kia Sedona vehicles manufactured from June 15, 2005, through August 14, 2012 originally sold in, or currently registered in Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Rhode Island, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, the front lower control arms may break due to corrosion resulting from prolonged exposure to salty environments.
- Consequence: A broken control arm can result in the loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Kia will notify owners and dealers will inspect the degree of corrosion of the front lower control arms, and will either rustproof or replace them, free of charge. The recall began on December 20, 2013. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall number is SC100.
- Manufacturer: Kia Motors Corporation
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
- Summary: Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
- Consequence: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of PARK without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098.
- Manufacturer: KIA MOTORS CORPORATION
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH

A MALFUNCTIONING STOP LAMP SWITCH MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED OR MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED. A STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION MAY ALSO AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKE-TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK FEATURE SO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, AND IT MAY NOT DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.
- Consequence: ANY OF THESE MALFUNCTIONS, ALONE OR IN COMBINATION, MAY LEAD TO A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 17, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KIA'S CONSUMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-333-4542.

Although the Sienna had a few options that we liked, we ultimately decided that it was not worth the extra money. We have also been averaging 18 MPG with the constant stop and go, even with the A/C system running. I am really impressed with the torque that the Kia has. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. I never thought I would go with a Korean made vehicle, but they really did it right with this one.

I chose the Kia minivan over several others I test drove because it has a nice driving feel to it, looks nice as far as minivans go, and has a good warranty. It's definitely a good value for the money, especially when you consider the 100,000 warranty. However, I was very disappointed when the transmission locked in park and stranded my three young kids and me thirty miles from home. Unfortunately, KIA only agreed to tow the car to the dealership and didn't offer to provide us with a ride home or contact a rental car company. Despite this, I still believe that KIA has the power to surprise. Although my experience was not ideal, I remain hopeful that they will continue to improve their products and customer service.

I recently purchased a left-over 07 Sedona and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with it. The overall quality of the vehicle is exceptional and I was pleasantly surprised to find that JD Power rates the Sedona higher than the Honda Odyssey. The ride is incredibly quiet and the handling is superb, especially for a larger car. Weighing in at 4600 lbs, the Sedona has an impressive pick-up and a punchy accelerator. Additionally, the storage space behind the 3rd row seats is incredibly spacious, eliminating the need for a car carrier to haul our luggage. The Sedona is the epitome of luxury and I can't get over how smooth and quiet the ride is. Not to mention, it is one of the safest vehicles on the road with plenty of interior storage. Overall, I highly recommend the Sedona to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.

I was originally interested in the Toyota Sienna, but I found myself overwhelmed with the additional features that I didn't need or request. However, I was impressed with Kia's five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and ten-year power train warranty. Additionally, I was able to save $4,000 compared to the Toyota/Honda version. Overall, we are extremely satisfied and have no complaints.

The Kia is certainly comfortable and has many nice gadgets. It drives well and gains speed quickly. However, I have had some issues with it that have been quite frustrating. Unfortunately, I have had to take my Kia in for repairs three times within the past two months. The power sliding doors do not open automatically, and the car has been difficult to start at times. I was initially told that the junction box needed to be replaced, but now it seems that the body control module needs to be replaced. As a busy mother with four children, I need a reliable form of transportation, and unfortunately, this van has not been reliable for me.

I purchased a KIA Sedona Ex 2007 model in May 2008, but unfortunately, it has been plagued with numerous electrical issues. Currently, the entire electrical system has failed, resulting in no interior lights, inoperable doors, and an illuminated airbag light. As a result, I cannot rely on this van for transportation. Best regards, Laura

I am hesitant to give this van a positive review due to some issues I have experienced. The air conditioner compressor needed repair, the sliding passenger door scrapes, and the steering wheel makes a whooshing sound when turning. Additionally, the transmission clunks when shifting into drive, my driver's seat squeaks and juts forward, and the ignition has locked on me four times in the past three days. There are also some blind spots in the windshield pillars and when using the visors, it bottoms out on bumps and sways on corners. Furthermore, the air conditioning has a musty smell and the mileage is much less than promised. Lastly, I had some issues with the KIA dealership trying to rip me off on the service agreement. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that they can be resolved and that the van will perform better in the future.
