TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2010-05-25
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: I PURCHASED TIRES FROM MANTECA TIRES IN MAY OF 2010. THE TIRES WERE YOKOHAMA PRADA TIRES FOR A TOTAL OF 359.80. I HAD THE TIRES BALANCED, ALIGNED AND ROTATED AT REGULAR INTERVALS. THE TIRES FROM DAY ONE WERE MAKING EXTREME NOISE AND I HAD NOTIFIED MANTECA TIRES THAT THE TIRES WERE CAUSING NOISE. THEY SUGGESTED TO ROTATE THEM AND USE THEM FOR A WHILE TO SEE IF THE TIRES CONTINUED TO MAKE NOISE. I DID SO AND THEN ALSO TOOK THEM IN LATER TO BE ROTATED AGAIN AND HAD THEM CHECK THE NOISE. THEY STATED THAT I SHOULD LET SOME MORE TIME GO ON THEM AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE TO SEE IF AGAIN THE NOISE WOULD GO AWAY. IT DID NOT AND THE NOISE WAS GETTING WORSE. I DID NOT FEEL THAT THESE WERE SAFE. THEY SAID I SHOULD CONTACT YOKOHAMA, WHICH I DID. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL TIRE COMPANY AND GET IT CHECKED OUT. YOKOHAMA WAS CLAIMING THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY STATED THERE WAS SOME CUPPING. I TOLD THEM HOW CAN THAT BE, WHEN I NEVER HAD THIS ROAD NOISE WITH MY LAST TIRES AND I HAD THESE TIRES ROTATED, ALIGNED AND BALANCED. THEY SAID THEY WOULD OFFER A 25 % DISCOUNT ON NEW TIRES. THAT IS NOT HONORING A WARRANTY. A LITTLE OVER A YEAR LATER, A PERSON SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE TIRES. MANTECA TIRES THEN WHEN ON TO FAX THEM PAPERWORK AND TALK TO THEM, WHICH IT TOOK YOKOHAMA THREE DAYS TO GET BACK WITH THEM AND THEN THEY ONLY OFFERED A 40% DISCOUNT ON NEW TIRES. IF I HAVE BALANCED MY TIRES, ROTATED THEM AND DONE EVERYTHING I SHOULD AS A CAR OWNER AND THOSE TIRES ARE STILL MAKING NOISE, THEN IT IS CLEARLY THE FAULT OF THE TIRES. WHAT WOULD MAKE ME BUY YOKOHAMA TIRES AGAIN, EVEN AT A DISCOUNT, WHEN THEY DO NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY THEY OFFERED IN THE FIRST PLACE. THESE ARE OBVIOUSLY FAULTY TIRES AND I AM NOT THE FIRST ONE TO COMPLAIN OF THE EXTREME ROAD NOISE FROM THESE TIRES. IF YOU RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER CONSUMERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME WITH YOKOHAMA TIRES. THEY TOO, HAVE COMPLAINED OF YOKOHAMA NOT HONORING WARRANTIES. *TR

Hi there! I recently purchased a Kia Rio to replace my old Mazda Protege as my daily commuting car. I was looking for a car that had good gas mileage, a great air conditioning system, and a CD/FM/AM unit. I must say, I got a fantastic car for a very reasonable price! I also considered the Chevy Cobalt, but after test driving both, I was thoroughly impressed with the Kia. Although it only has a 1.6 liter engine with 110 hp, the VVT engine really does a great job. The interior may not be as luxurious as some of the Hondas and Toyotas out there, but that's reflected in the price. Plus, it's still much better than the Cobalt, which has some really *scary* plastics inside and looks quite unpleasant. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend the Rio to anyone looking for a great car at an affordable price!
-
Love it! This is my 1st new car. I'm so glad I chose this one. It's a great car at a great price.

This is one of the better budget cars. It has decent gas mileage at a greatly affordable price. I'm 6'1

The Kia Rio5 SX is a great car! The mileage has been excellent (though not quite what I'd expect), the ride is very good and the design is really eye-pleasing. Overall, everyone who has been in and seen this car can't believe that it is a Kia and that it comes in at such a low cost.
-
The best thing about this vehicle is that it gets 30 miles to the gallon, which is especially important for me since I work 30 miles away from home. I also love how much room this little car has and how comfortable it is. It's definitely an excellent vehicle for the money. The only problem I had at first was figuring out how to put it in reverse, but once I got the hang of it, there was no longer any confusion. Overall, I'm really happy with this car!

Hey there! If you're looking for a car that can get you from point A to point B without any fuss, this one might be just what you need. It's great for basic transportation!
Cyrus Lueilwitz 2024-08-29
Hey there! I wanted to share some information about my car. It's a Kia that my grandparents bought in 2008 for over $12k. My grandma used it to commute to work, and in 2014, they gave it to my sister for college. At only 107k miles, the transmission and power steering needed to be rebuilt. Now, I'm the one driving it at 175k miles, and I've had to replace the battery. Unfortunately, it shakes quite a bit on the interstate and struggles to go up hills. It's not the best handling car, but it could be okay for someone else. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Kias and would prefer a Corolla or Neon. I paid $2500 for it, but I'm looking to sell it for something else. Overall, I would give the car 2-3 stars. Let me know if you're interested!
Immanuel Conroy 2024-08-28
I purchased this car in July of 2007, brand new with only 6 miles. Although I have owned Kia's in the past, this one was quite different. Unfortunately, the gas mileage was not up to my expectations. While not all 2007 models are like this, I have heard of many that get 40+ MPG. However, I have been getting 16-18 mpg on the highway while driving at 55-65 mph. If I had the chance to go back in time, I would have chosen a Honda or a Toyota instead. Despite taking the car to 5 different dealerships, the problem was never fixed and they were unable to find one. While there is a possibility that you may be one of the lucky ones if you purchase this vehicle, there is also a chance that you may not be.
Camryn McLaughlin 2024-07-07
Although this car has some nice amenities for a cheap price, it has been unreliable since day 1. From replacing the transmission to replacing literally the whole front end, it always seems to have some issue. Additionally, the car's performance on the highway is not great, with a manual transmission staying at 3500 rpms in 5th gear at only 100km/h, resulting in poor fuel economy despite its small engine. While it can be fun to drive, it requires constant repairs and consumes a lot of fuel.
Bennie O'Keefe 2024-04-07
It seems like the suspension could have been improved.
