2016 Ford Escape problems
The Ford Escape is a compact crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company since the 2001 model year. The first Ford SUV derived from a car platform, the Escape fell below the Ford Explorer in size; the Escape is currently sized between the Ford EcoSport and Ford Edge. The 2004 Ford Escape Hybrid was the first hybrid-electric vehicle from Ford, and the first hybrid produced as an SUV.
The first two generations of the Escape used the Ford CD2 platform (jointly developed with Mazda), leading to the release of the Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner; as with the Escape, both the Tribute and Mariner were marketed in North America. In Europe, the Escape was initially branded as the Ford Maverick from 2001 to 2008 (replacing a Nissan-produced SUV).
Under the mid-2000s "One Ford" globalization strategy, the third and fourth-generation designs of the Escape have been unified with the Ford Kuga, designed by Ford of Europe. Sharing a common body and chassis underpinnings (and several engines), the Escape and Kuga are manufactured in their home markets. As with previous generations, the fourth-generation Escape is offered with gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. Outside of North America, the Ford Escape is marketed in Australia, China, and Taiwan.

- Summary: The vehicle flashed to move it to park, which i did and then the vehicle proceeded to die in the middle of a busy intersection. My children were in the vehicle on an incredibly hot day, surrounded by lots of traffic, making it incredibly dangerous for us. I had my vehicle towed to my home, where my husband, who is a mechanic, was able to figure out that the 50 amp fuse in the fuse box had blown, but it never registered on the scanner, that the fuse was the issue. He changed the fuse, thus fixing the issue. I would just like other owners of this type of vehicle to know, that hopefully this could also be their issue, and a simple fix.

- Summary: The component that malfunctioned was my transmission according to the mechanic. My first thought was a flat tire and after I checked my tires it wasn't flat. I started my car back up and it did the same thing eventually stalling and not moving at all. The wheel locked and would not move to steer or release. I had to get it towed. This is a huge safety issue concern because it stopped in the middle of the road while I was driving putting my life and others at risk. It's available for inspection upon request. The problem was confirmed by a mechanic in which he said there was a recall at some point on the transmission for my vehicle but he was unsure if it was still active. There were no warning lamps or signs and there still isn't present on my dash. Thus making there being no warning signs at all a safety issues for myself and others.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-23
- VIN: 1FMCU9GX6GU
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: After riding around with a friend one afternoon, we went to a drive-thru for a snack and my car began to notify me that it was overheating. The dashboard stated that I should pull over and immediately shut off the engine for it to cool down. Upon doing so, I checked the coolant level, and upon releasing pressure, I noticed the coolant was low. I drove to the nearest Autozone and appropriately filled the coolant levels as needed. After that, the engine never overheated again, but it began to have issues accelerating, as well as running rough upon starting the engine and while in idle. A couple days later, the check engine light came on so I took my vehicle to the nearest Ford Dealership to see what was going on. Ford concluded that coolant was leaking into the 2nd cylinder of my engine. Due to this, the entire engine needs replaced at only 160,000 miles on a not even 10 year old vehicle. After investigating online, I noticed that thousands of other Ford vehicle owners with the same make, model, and year, are having this exact same issue. Ford knew that they were mass producing engines with faulty head gaskets and now their customers are paying for it out of pocket. Ford needs to make this right for their customers and issue a recall on the entire engine.

I filled it up again the next day and it held for about 2 months. 1 week ago, while driving to work I the engine had reduced power to precent overheating. Ever since sincr each time I go fill the overflow tank with coolant it dumps completely on the ground.

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to share my thoughts on the car you sold me. Although it was previously owned, I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. The 2.0 ecoboost engine is incredibly powerful and the steering is tight and firm. The dash layout is also great and the power seats are a nice touch. While it may be a little small for me, it's perfect for someone who is more petite. I did find it to be a bit pricey, but I believe that the features and quality make it worth the investment. Thank you again for your help with this purchase!
-
The design of the steering console and handling response is great. The steering wheel is a bit smaller than average, which helps it to feel like a sports car, and the handling response is really impressive. It gets excellent gas mileage and is easy to get in and out of, not too high off the ground to access comfortably. It feels really sporty for an SUV. I even like it more than my ML350 (Mercedes) SUV, which I liked a lot.
-
I purchased this SUV for my wife, who is quite short and had difficulty seeing out of our previous vehicle. The Escape Titanium has a full 10-way power adjustment on the passenger side, and she is absolutely delighted with the ride.
-
This small SUV is definitely one of the nicer looking ones out there! It comes with leather interior, four-wheel drive, and a 2L 240 horsepower engine, making it quite zippy. The interior is well laid out and very comfortable, with plenty of adjustment in the electric seats that also have lumbar support. I find the Escape to be just as quiet as the Lincoln MKS that was traded for it, and in my opinion, the Escape's Sony stereo sounds even better than the THX stereo in the MKS. The only thing that bothers me about it is the new my Ford touch. I've had two cars, a 2012 Focus and a 2013 MKS, which have the older Microsoft version, and I prefer that one to this new one. There is one other caveat: the 2L Turbo is not a gas mileage champ. It's okay, but there are others in this segment that get better gas mileage, although they don't have the power this one does. I towed a Uhaul trailer with an almost 800-pound motorcycle in it, and it had no trouble maintaining 70 miles an hour on the interstate. It got right at 17 mpg pulling the motorcycle. My best tank so far is 25.4 mpg in mixed driving. I think you would be lucky to get 30 mpg in Interstate driving with the 2 liter motor.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your new Ford Escape!

This SUV has some areas that could use improvement. The panoramic top and interior fabric shield are poorly designed, causing the fabric to flap when the windows are down. However, the SUV has potential to be great with some adjustments. The main system of the car could use some work, as it has trouble connecting to Bluetooth devices and can be buggy. Despite these issues, the SUV has a lot of potential. It's worth noting that the car battery is difficult to replace, requiring the removal of other car parts. Additionally, the driver's seat has started to squeak. Overall, this SUV has some areas that could use improvement, but it has potential to be a great vehicle with some adjustments.

Hello! We bought this vehicle from Marysville Ford in Washington State because we needed a safe and reliable car for our new teen driver. Unfortunately, we recently experienced some issues with the car. While driving in a rural area, the check engine light started blinking and the car began to shudder with no acceleration. We were worried because this is exactly the kind of situation we wanted to avoid by investing in a reliable car. After reading some concerning reviews about this model, we are even more worried about what the dealership might say. We purchased the car in December 2016 and have only put 20,000 miles on it. We have only had oil changes done at the dealership. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this vehicle due to these unknown circumstances. Wish us luck!

This is my second Escape! The first one was in 2013 and unfortunately, some belt kept breaking and killed the motor. My 2016 has also had some issues. In March, they had to replace a part because it didn't have any power and then would take off too fast. With less than a thousand miles on it, the turbo died. I'm not sure if I will get another one.

undefinedHello! If you're an owner of the 2016 4 door SUV model, you may have noticed that the vehicle shifts gears rather slowly in cold weather. Don't worry, you're not alone! Many other owners have reported the same issue. Have you tried any solutions yet?

I have been a loyal Ford customer for a long time, but my recent experience with my 2016 Ford Escape has been disappointing. The engine has suddenly shut off on three occasions while I was driving, which was a safety concern. Despite bringing it to the Ford dealership while it was still under warranty, they were unable to identify the issue. While I am frustrated with this situation, I remain confident that Ford will take the necessary steps to address this issue and ensure the safety of their customers.
