THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE JAGUAR DEALERSHIP, MARKEL, IN OMAHA, NE. JAGUAR CARS IN NEW JERSEY ([XXX]) JUST INFORMED ME THAT IT IS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND JAGUAR WOULD NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR A POSSIBLE SAFETY DEFECT. THEY OFFERED TO REPAIR IT FOR $7,500. I HEADED TOWARD HIGH CURB AVOIDING CARS AND PEDESTRIANS IN HOPES OF SLOWING CAR BEFORE I WAS TO HIT DIPSEY DUMPSTER ,ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (I HAD CHOSEN TO HIT THEM IN ORDER TO AVOID INVOLVING OTHER CARS AND PEDESTRIANS) WHEN I HIT THE CURB AT HIGH RPMS , THE IMPACT DAMAGED THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AND UNDER CARRIAGE OF AUTOMOBILE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AS THE CONTACT WAS STILL APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A DUMPSTER IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING ANY FURTHER. THE CONTACT AND THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE BLACK BOX WAS REVIEWED BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE ANY INFORMATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

  • Summary: THE DISTANCE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARE ALMOST THE SAME DISTANCE FROM THE CAR FLOOR AND THE PEDALS ARE CLOSE ENOUGH THAT A FOOT CAN CONTACT BOTH. AFTER STARTING THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND PUTTING IN DRIVE I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND THE HARDER I PRESSED THE BRAKE THE FASTER THE CAR WENT OVER A CONCRETE BARRIER. THE CAUSE WAS, OF COURSE, THAT I WAS STEPPING ON BOTH PEDALS. A YEAR LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND I RAMMED AND BROKE A GARAGE DOOR. THE HEIGHT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE RAISED ABOUT AN INCH SO THAT STEPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL NOT ALLOW SIMULTANEOUS STEPPING THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE CONTACTED JAGUAR, NORTH AMERICA REF# [XXX]. ON MY CAR I HAVE PUT A 7/8 INCH BLOCK ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO RAISE THE HEIGHT. IF IT HAD BEEN A PERSON AHEAD OF ME INSTEAD OF A GARAGE DOOR I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RELATED TO THE NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NEVER DETERMINED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,707.

DUE TO INCORRECT DESIGN, THE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY NOT FULLY SEAT WITH THE TUBE INTERFACE, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON MAKING THE CONNECTION MAY BELIEVE THAT THE QUICK CONNECTOR IS FULLY ATTACHED.
  • Consequence: FAILURE OF THIS CONNECTION COULD LEAD TO FUEL SPILLAGE AND, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.

    The car was purchased new. Although the interior has some flaws and is made cheaply, it has been well-maintained. The headliner fell down after a few years, but it was replaced with a high-quality material. The vanity mirrors have covers that break off easily, but they have been replaced with more durable ones. The clock and radio require the manual to reset, but it is a simple process that can be easily done. The cigarette lighter works some of the time, but it has been checked and is in good condition.

    The S-type Jag, 4.0 V-8 sports model is one hot machine. It hugs the road like a magnet on a refrigerator and is solid with no squeaks or creaks. This car is not to be confused with your father's Ford or Jags from the past that had electrical and other problems. Ford has focused on quality and they have delivered.

    A very fast cat! It has more than enough power and it's there when it's needed. Comfort is outstanding. Turns are effortless, does not drive like a 4-door. However, I just wish it would stay on the road and not in the shop. The car has had a few issues, such as a front right suspension problem, brakes (rotors and pads) needing replacement just after 25,000 miles, and an electrical 'glitch' that it's currently in the shop for. Despite these setbacks, I still enjoy driving it.

    After test driving a used BMW and Benz, both of which were fine and my wife loves hers, I decided to go with a Jag 03 S Type V6 with 18K miles and a factory warranty. It was fully loaded, had no paintwork or smoker, and came with all keys and manuals. I purchased it from a used dealer for around $20K and it may be the best used car I've ever bought. I love the ZF 5Spd automatic - it has a snickity snick feel to it. There's a learning curve to get the RPMs up there where it's fun to drive, but it's worth it. Mine is dark grey metallic with a light grey fine leather interior. It looks right at home at the Country Club and in a pinch, I've even lowered the back seats and hauled 8 ft lumber! If you're looking for a great car, make sure to buy it right, find one with some warranty and enjoy!
