- Summary: The contact owns a 2008 Jaguar S-Type. The contact stated while driving 35MPH, there was debris on the roadway, which caused a blowout of the front passenger’s side tire. The contact then pulled over on the side of the highway and attempted to change the tire; however, the contact was unable to remove the lug nuts. As a result of the lug nut failure, the wrench provided with the vehicle became inoperable. The contact drove the vehicle with the flat tire back to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with having poorly designed lug nuts. The vehicle was not repaired but was driven back to the residence. The contact's son who is an independent mechanic was able to bring a special machine needed to remove the lug nuts and repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer also advised the contact to bring the vehicle to the nearest dealer which was 60 miles away from the residence for the service. The failure mileage was approximately 49,620.

- Summary: Jaguar land Rover has discontinued importation of Jaguar and related OEM parts. PT.Jeff Car Care order all four wheel rotors for 49345 miles and stated "rotors shot" Also ordered and then returned from PARTSGEEK for $293 but had also to return due to 326mm spec parts. $75.00 shop time was charged to place vehicle on lift twice remove one wheel and calibre only twice to find rotors called for 326mm were to large. Call JLR and they called Huntington JLR who wanted to charge $850 for 300mm rear, who stated correct OEM rotor size is not 326mm but front 305mm which US JLR warehouse is completely sold out no more being imported , but has rear 300mm available. A tough NAPA Pt. Jeff Store order a 4 set but have to measure rotors . NYS INSPECTION WILL FAIL BRAKES but a lung cancer at [XXX] of age who need my Jaguar to go to hospital and doctors does not want to have NYS INSPECTION STICKER RED REMOVED by shop under NYS DOT law and be ticketed for failure to have Jaguar NYS Inspected only to be told I need brakes but JLR does not nor other OEM have the front vented 305mm rotors. - Summary: On 5/8/23 called JLR NA on transmission issues fault codes C0003A(abs) P0500 and PO721 gear box and speed sensors. They recommended not to drive and have towed and connected to JLR road side, but $225 to closest JLR dealer, so called back and JLR recommended Jaguar Plus and T&S Auto Clinic, locally. Plus does not do transmissions, so T&S called for tow $105.Open case on 5/9/23 #[XXX] and told T&S don't proceed with shop work, until we came in and authorized. Issue with them , no receipts , no written estimates that were requested. Here is issue: CLUNK in automatic PRND . Yellow check engine, abs and instrument displays"abs fault" "gear box" " output shaft" and many others. However if the DSC is disabled, like on heavy snow; and slowly shift P R N D then J shift to 2,3,4,5 no CLUNK just normal bumps in and out N. No speed issues my husband says. But I am 77 and have lung cancer and cannot work it without the D automatic . Many emails and calls to JLR who set up appointments with JLR dealers 25-50 miles away. All say they have to run diagnosis for two hours, $500 non- refundable fee, even though the instrument two green displays give most of the faults keep flashing. Transmission shop day have cheap ABS RR changed , and scheduled, some report that cures all faults, since JLR software get confused , revs engine, upshifts, down shifts and CLUNK. Solution: Husband says start engine, let idle down ,warn up, press DSC off, ease from P to R and you hear shift , then stop in N and the slowly D, the immediately in J shifter go through 5,4,3,2 keep foot on brake at all times. Result no CLUNK, but small normal bumps.(Keeps lock in gear, no down shifts Two JLR dealers say OOS and TCM internal new $14,000 or one said $4,200 plus labor warrantee 1 year. JLR refuses build sheet(Tranny s/n) ECU versions, any assistance on poor ECU software and fault code management on board I, a cancer survivor have difficulty follow my husband steeps and in fear of driving S type Jaguar! - Summary: Tune up does not last for more than 1 year. It is completely destroyed even when everything is replaced brand new. It is a huge fire hazard. Everything is cooked like a furnace. Mechanics are not willing to put the effort in doing tune ups and repairs. I do a tune up on the Car once a year. I memorized every mechanical problem on that car, just so I can keep a sharp eye on all the problems.

- Summary: The contact owns a 2003 Jaguar S-Type. The contact stated while driving approximately 20-25 MPH, the vehicle would shift into reverse independently and would lock up while the gear shifter was in a drive(D). The gear box fault warning light was illuminated. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal in order to continue to drive. Additionally, the contact stated that while at a complete stop with the vehicle in drive(D), the vehicle would reverse independently. The contact would immediately depress the brake pedal. The warning message "Gear Box Fault" was illuminated. There was no further information provided. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic several times where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V024000 (Power Train). The independent mechanic then contacted the local dealer who advised that the transmission control module (TCM) was previously reprogrammed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V024000 (Power Train) in 2004. The dealer advised that they could not assist as the software was no longer available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

- Summary: My wife's 2005 Jaguar S-Type R leaks fuel, and is worst after refilling the tank. The car frequently loses all engine power while driving with no warning. It frequently refuses to restart, and then I have to have it towed sometimes at great distances from home at a cost of over $700 to my repair shop in Virginia. My wife is now too afraid to drive the car because of the gas fumes, fear of a fire, and sudden engine failure. My service technician at Mountain Valley Motors believes the problem has to do with a faulty Jaguar fuel system.

The S-type Jag, 4.0 V-8 sports model is one hot machine. It hugs the road like a magnet on a refrigerator and is solid with no squeaks or creaks. This car is not to be confused with your father's Ford or Jags from the past that had electrical and other problems. Ford has focused on quality and they have delivered.

However, I just wish it would stay on the road and not in the shop. The car has had a few issues, such as a front right suspension problem, brakes (rotors and pads) needing replacement just after 25,000 miles, and an electrical 'glitch' that it's currently in the shop for. Despite these setbacks, I still enjoy driving it.

Fast, luxurious, comfortable, and very easy to handle. It's a shame that my personal experience with the car was not as positive as I had hoped. Unfortunately, I had to trade it in after 25 months due to reliability issues. While it was in the shop for warranty work for 38 days, I did appreciate the wonderful performance when it was running. If you have the resources and live near a Jaguar dealer, it may still be worth considering.

My wife surprised me with a beautiful platinum S Type 3.0 with a big red bow, just like the commercials on TV! I absolutely love my Jag - the styling, comfort, ride feel, power, and the great sound system are all perfect for me. I also enjoy the adoring looks and comments I get from everyone. I now look for excuses to drive, and even when I'm stuck in traffic on the freeway, I don't mind at all!

The car was purchased new. Although the interior has some flaws and is made cheaply, it has been well-maintained. The headliner fell down after a few years, but it was replaced with a high-quality material. The vanity mirrors have covers that break off easily, but they have been replaced with more durable ones. The clock and radio require the manual to reset, but it is a simple process that can be easily done. The cigarette lighter works some of the time, but it has been checked and is in good condition.

I am confident in stating that my experience with the S-Type has been less than satisfactory. Despite my careful driving and maintenance, this car (like many S-Types) has presented a multitude of mechanical issues. Within a short period of time and with very low mileage, I encountered problems with the brakes, coolant system, gaskets, radiator, headlights, front brakes, cigarette lighter, O2 sensor, and catalyst. It is my belief that the quality of Jaguar vehicles was subpar, and unfortunately, Ford did not improve the situation.

Although the Jaguar S Type was a comfortable and beautiful car to drive, it unfortunately had some electrical and mechanical issues that made it difficult to maintain. The modular computer codes were not updated and the window regulators tended to break often. Additionally, the exhaust sensor readouts were impossible to fix. Despite these issues, the car was enjoyable to drive. However, due to the high cost of repairs, it may be worth considering investing in a different model that is more cost-effective in the long run.
