The Infiniti QX80 (formerly called the Infiniti QX56 until 2013) is a full-size luxury SUV marketed by Nissan's luxury division Infiniti. The first-generation QX56 was built in the United States and is based on the first-generation Armada. The second-generation model was released in 2010 as a model produced in Japan, which used the sixth-generation Patrol (later also marketed as the second-generation Armada since 2016) as the base vehicle instead. Since the 2014 model year in 2013, the vehicle was renamed to the QX80 as Infiniti renamed their entire product line under a new nomenclature.
First generation (JA60; 2004)
The first-generation QX56 (model code JA60) is based on the first-generation Armada, while also sharing the F-Alpha platform with the first-generation Titan. It is the first Infiniti built in the United States. The QX56 was only marketed in the United States, Canada, Russia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Development on the JA60 QX56 began in early 2000 alongside the WA60 Armada. A final design by Masato Takahashi was reached in early 2001, with an August 2001 design freeze for early 2004 start of production.
The rear door handles were installed on the C-pillar as a Nissan design tradition started with the D21 Pathfinder released in 1985 to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.
The first-generation QX56 was powered by a 5.6-liter VK56DE V8 engine (320 hp (239 kW) at 4,900 rpm and 393 lb⋅ft (533 N⋅m) torque at 3,600 rpm) and a 5-speed automatic transmission with an overdrive. As is common with aluminum blocks, each cylinder in the engine was lined with cast iron. The valvetrain was a DOHC design with four valves per cylinder. Infiniti designed the QX56's throttle responsiveness to correspond to specific drivetrain modes: when the driver selects all-wheel drive, the throttle becomes less sensitive, presumably to allow easier regulation of acceleration when off-road.
The QX56 had around 9,000 lb (4,082 kg) of towing capacity. Mileage at peak performance drain is 12 miles per US gallon (20 L/100 km; 14 mpg‑imp). It comes in one trim level, with only key options such as: DVD entertainment system, 4WD/2WD, and a bench instead of captain chairs as the second row. Other features which came standard were a ten-speaker Bose system, DVD-based navigation system, leather trim for all seats, dual-climate control, 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, and an adaptive cruise control system. A Precrash system was a unique feature in the market as well.
Since the demise of the Q45 (which was priced above the QX56) after 2006, the QX56 was the most expensive Infiniti sold in North America and was Infiniti's only full-size vehicle.
In early 2007 for the 2008 model year, the Infiniti QX56 received a minor facelift which included a revised grille, a redesigned interior, a new intelligent key system, more standard equipment, new third-row seats that fold electronically and standard 20-inch chrome wheels. Introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in January 2007, the facelifted model went on sale in April 2007.
After the 2010 model year, the QX56 and Armada no longer share the same body, as the first-generation Armada continued to be produced in the United States until the 2015 model year, while the second-generation QX56 switched to the body used by the Y62 Patrol.

- Summary: There was previous recall on this vehicle, 10V-074 (Infiniti #R1011) for a fuel sender problem, causing the fuel gauge to be inaccurate. Infiniti says it was fixed in 2010. Unfortunately, I am having the exact same problem now, and have run out of gas twice because of it. Infiniti said they can't help because it was already fixed. Safety issue because running out of fuel while driving is dangerous. Both times has been on an interstate. It was a previously reported recall and "fixed" but has failed again. Infiniti says they won't fix it again.

My driver's steering wheel airbag did NOT deploy. To my knowledge all the other airbags did deploy. I suffered neck, right shoulder, and lower back injuries from the rollover but remained in the driver's seat as the seatbelt system worked well. My Qx56 was a total loss.

UPON RESEARCHING THIS THERE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN/INFINITIE THAT THE PLAINTIFFS WON. IF THIS IS A KNOW DEFECT WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL? MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED OR SHE COULD HAVE INJURED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE DUE TO THE CATASTOPHIC LOSS OF BRAKES. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE AND THEIR IS NO WARNING THAT IT WILL HAPPEN. YOU JUST LOSE THE BRAKES AND THE ABILITY TO STOP. - Summary: DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND WHILE IN MOTION, THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT INDICATOR ON THE DASH CONTROL PANEL ILLUMINATES WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, WHICH CAUSE THE BRAKES TO SHAKE AND MAKE SCRAPING SOUND. AT THAT POINT THE BRAKES FAIL TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE DISTANCE, INCREASING THE CHANCE OF A COLLISION. ABS BRAKE LIGHT CLEARS AND NORMAL BRAKE FUNCTIONS RETURN WHEN THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF, THEN BACK ON.

- Summary: WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP TWO TIMES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS THE BRAKES SUDDENLY FAIL ALLOWING US NO ABILITY TO STOP THE CAR ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS WRECK. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT (NOT ABS) ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. EVEN THOUGH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM THEY ARE NOT BEING ACCOUNTABLE OR HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SERIOUS CAR DEFECT. ACCORDING TO THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT (WHERE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM) THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE ACTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER AND VDC CONTROL UNIT. THEY RECOMMEND FOR ME TO PAY 2-3000 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE CAR FIXED FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. GIVEN THE SEVERITY OF THIS DEFECT IN THE CORE BRAKE SYSTEM ACROSS BOTH NISSAN AND INFINITI CARS AND THE FACT THIS WAS TAKEN TO COURT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR A FAILING BRAKE SYSTEM.

VEHICLE BEING TOWED BY DEALER TO DETERMINE CAUSE BUT FROM REVIEWING ALL THE COMPLAINTS HERE, THERE SEEMS TO BE 2 COMMON THEMES: A BRAKE DEFECT AND NISSAN NOT FIGURING IT OUT.

THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 201, "PROTECTION IN INTERIOR IMPACT." AN OUT-OF-SPECIFICATION A-PILLAR FINISHER MIGHT IMPEDE THE CORRECT INFLATION OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG NEAR THE UPPER PORTION OF THE B-PILLAR.
- Consequence: INCORRECT INFLATION OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO A VEHICLE OCCUPANT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH REQUIRING DEPLOYMENT OF THAT AIR BAG.

I cannot stress enough that MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE will keep your vehicle in top running condition. This includes cleaning the interior and exterior at regular intervals, because you know, your car drives and rides better when it's clean :). We purchased this Infiniti (2008 QX56) used in 2010 with 28k miles from Atlanta. We have owned many Porsche's, BMW's, Ford Expedition, etc. However, this Infiniti is the best car we have ever owned! We purchased an extended warranty (100K additional miles) at 95k for $2400 from Carchex years ago in fear of a major catastrophe repair required before we were ready to replace

I owned a 2004 (first year model) and had several problems with it. However, I finally decided to get a new one to take advantage of all the modifications and upgrades. I was pleasantly surprised by the numerous improvements. From the much more luxurious interior (with more wood grain) to folding mirrors with directional signal, heated steering wheel, larger DVD screen, power rear seat, larger wheels.... and the list goes on and on. They did everything right and I am absolutely in love with my 2008.

I researched every fullsize SUV available, and I have to say that the QX is the best by far. It's been a great truck for me, and I've even towed my 25 foot Sea Ray, which weighs approximately 8000 lbs with the trailer, with ease. Even after 10 months of ownership, there are still features that I haven't used yet.

Travelling with two tall kids can be a challenge, but we found the perfect solution with the Infiniti SUV. The rear legroom is a must for us, and the QX56 exceeded our expectations. The number of standard options is amazing, including heated steering wheel, rear heated seats, auto fold side mirrors, power 3rd row seats, power liftgate, and more. The interior design and legroom are far superior to other SUVs we considered. While the space behind the 3rd row seat is somewhat limited, we rarely use that seat. The mileage isn't great, averaging about 15 mpg between city/highway driving, but we were aware of this before making the purchase.

I really love my QX!! We made a deal on a 2007 model, but when they got their first 2008 model in, I took one look and knew I had to have it! The changes are incredible and I believe the 2008 QX should be SUV of the year. The interior and exterior are both beautiful...we especially love all the chrome! The luxury is top notch. I also love the bluetooth capability, power 3rd row seats, intellicruise, and the music box is awesome. I buy all my songs on iTunes and then load them in, we love that feature! The leather is beautiful, controls are perfectly placed, and the power of this baby is hard to beat. The first time I stepped on the gas, it gave new meaning to 'stepping on it'. I feel safe with my children in this SUV and we couldn't be happier to be driving it. It deserves more credit!

Hi there! I recently upgraded to the 08 QX56 and was excited about the sound system with a built-in hard drive for all my music. However, I was disappointed to find out that the hard drive can only be loaded by recording CDs, which takes a long time. Unfortunately, I no longer have any CDs and the Compact Flash Medium is not very user-friendly. I couldn't find any information about this limitation on the Infiniti website or marketing materials, and the salespeople didn't seem to know much about it either. It's also worth noting that the system only has a single CD player. Personally, I wouldn't pay extra for this feature and would recommend going for the Armada instead. On a positive note, I haven't experienced any brake issues with my new car. Thanks for listening!

The truck is amazing! Congratulations on your purchase! I understand that you needed to replace your 07 EXT due to a baby on the way and safety was a top priority.
