2011 Infiniti Qx56 problems

The Infiniti QX80 (formerly called the Infiniti QX56 until 2013) is a full-size luxury SUV marketed by Nissan's luxury division Infiniti. The first-generation QX56 was built in the United States and is based on the first-generation Armada. The second-generation model was released in 2010 as a model produced in Japan, which used the sixth-generation Patrol (later also marketed as the second-generation Armada since 2016) as the base vehicle instead. Since the 2014 model year in 2013, the vehicle was renamed to the QX80 as Infiniti renamed their entire product line under a new nomenclature.

First generation (JA60; 2004)

The first-generation QX56 (model code JA60) is based on the first-generation Armada, while also sharing the F-Alpha platform with the first-generation Titan. It is the first Infiniti built in the United States. The QX56 was only marketed in the United States, Canada, Russia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Development on the JA60 QX56 began in early 2000 alongside the WA60 Armada. A final design by Masato Takahashi was reached in early 2001, with an August 2001 design freeze for early 2004 start of production.

The rear door handles were installed on the C-pillar as a Nissan design tradition started with the D21 Pathfinder released in 1985 to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.

The first-generation QX56 was powered by a 5.6-liter VK56DE V8 engine (320 hp (239 kW) at 4,900 rpm and 393 lb⋅ft (533 N⋅m) torque at 3,600 rpm) and a 5-speed automatic transmission with an overdrive. As is common with aluminum blocks, each cylinder in the engine was lined with cast iron. The valvetrain was a DOHC design with four valves per cylinder. Infiniti designed the QX56's throttle responsiveness to correspond to specific drivetrain modes: when the driver selects all-wheel drive, the throttle becomes less sensitive, presumably to allow easier regulation of acceleration when off-road.

The QX56 had around 9,000 lb (4,082 kg) of towing capacity. Mileage at peak performance drain is 12 miles per US gallon (20 L/100 km; 14 mpg‑imp). It comes in one trim level, with only key options such as: DVD entertainment system, 4WD/2WD, and a bench instead of captain chairs as the second row. Other features which came standard were a ten-speaker Bose system, DVD-based navigation system, leather trim for all seats, dual-climate control, 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, and an adaptive cruise control system. A Precrash system was a unique feature in the market as well.

Since the demise of the Q45 (which was priced above the QX56) after 2006, the QX56 was the most expensive Infiniti sold in North America and was Infiniti's only full-size vehicle.

In early 2007 for the 2008 model year, the Infiniti QX56 received a minor facelift which included a revised grille, a redesigned interior, a new intelligent key system, more standard equipment, new third-row seats that fold electronically and standard 20-inch chrome wheels. Introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in January 2007, the facelifted model went on sale in April 2007.

After the 2010 model year, the QX56 and Armada no longer share the same body, as the first-generation Armada continued to be produced in the United States until the 2015 model year, while the second-generation QX56 switched to the body used by the Y62 Patrol.

SUSPENSION PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-07-17
  • VIN: JN8AZ2NE0B9
  • Components: SUSPENSION
  • Summary: A subframe is a key structural component of every car. As such, it stands to reason that it should last as long as the car itself. Doing much research on this model suspension and subframes become rusted as I didn’t know this when purchasing making it very unsafe . I experienced being involved in almost 2 accidents. Very dangerous. Subframe split in half and suspension. Something needs to be done as a lot of people are going thru this issue and Infiniti slogan claims “new horizons” by no means new horizon going to heaven by driving their vehicles.

WHERE'S THE ACCOUNTABILITY ON THEIR PART, DO A CERTAIN NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR BE INJURED BEFORE THE CONSUMERS ARE PROVIDED WITH THE PROPER ASSISTANCE? WHO REALLY LOOKS OUT FOR US? Negative 2011 Infiniti Qx56 car reviews

  1. Ike Wilderman 2024-10-23

Where do I even start? The car started having problems at around 60K miles when it was only 5 years old. Despite using mostly premium fuel from Chevron, the car is now 12 years old and has only 82K miles. It has never been in an accident, is not a lemon, and does not have a salvage title. Let's begin with the issues. Firstly, the engine makes a valve clicking/chattering noise under certain driving conditions, which is still ongoing. Although Infiniti sent a notice saying that our model/year car doesn't need an upgrade, I suspect that this valve noise is related to the failing timing chain, which is a common issue with these cars. Secondly, the driver side catalytic converter went out, which is also a common problem. Catalytic converter replacement costs around $2000 for each side. Under the EPA's Federal CLEAN AIR ACT Law, every car manufacturer must take responsibility and fix everything related to the exhaust system of a vehicle, including catalytic converters, when the vehicle is under 8 years old and has less than 80K miles. I contacted Infiniti when the car was over 8 years old but had less than 80K miles. Even though I had proof that the problem started when the car was 6 years old and had only 65K miles on it, they simply refused to acknowledge that such a thing existed, let alone service it. Thirdly, the A/C compressor went out at around 62K miles. Fourthly, the front passenger right side air vent broke. Fifthly, the driver side air mixer that mixes the A/C and the hot air to give you your desired air temperature broke. Sixthly, both front driver side and passenger side grip handles broke multiple times. These are the grip handles that you grab to get into the car - and we're not overweight people either. It's just that these things are very poorly designed to begin with and are made of very cheap plastic. Lastly, the front driver side and passenger side grip handles broke multiple times. These are the grip handles that you grab to get into the car - and we're not overweight people either. It's just that these things are very poorly designed to begin with and are made of very cheap plastic. The driver side sun visor has broken. The plastics at the base of the windshield wipers, between the hood and the windshield, are crumbling. There seems to be something loose or broken in the joints of the front suspension. Every time we drive over a bump or dip diagonally, the suspension thumps or clicks. It's worth noting that we never drove this car off-road. The windshield wiper pump motor has failed. A few electrical components have been shorting out, causing the A/C buttons to not respond as they should. The parking collision warning sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. The fuel gauge needle sometimes jumps up way beyond its markings, usually in the FULL direction, when the gas tank is half or quarter full. All four fender plastic trim pieces have either warped or come off from their clips. The trunk door sometimes stops working completely, no matter which button(s) I press to open or close it. However, I have learned to fix it by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Did I leave anything out? Yes, there are other relatively minor things such as door seals or clips that are breaking and failing, but I'll leave those out for now.

  2. Franco Schmeler 2024-06-05

This vehicle has had significant issues with steering, vibrations, and paint quality. Despite multiple trips to service, the problems have not been resolved. While the interior is nice and the power is good, the loose steering and bad shakes make it difficult to drive on the highway. The paint quality is also poor, with orange peel all over the unit. Given these issues, a buyback may be necessary. Although the service staff is nice, the Infiniti representative lacks the necessary expertise to address these issues.

  3. Wilford Wisozk 2024-05-21

The car's wind noise at highway speeds is unacceptable. Despite being told that this is average for an Infiniti product, I expect better quality from a luxury car brand. Additionally, the vehicle has developed a surge when at a stop, and I was informed that a recall was coming on the transmission. Although there was no code on the computer, Infiniti should still take responsibility and replace the transmission. While the design is nice, Infiniti needs to improve their quality to compete with other luxury car brands such as BMW.

Positive 2011 Infiniti Qx56 car reviews

Convenient, luxurious, and loaded with technologies.

  2. Herminio Boyer 2024-11-22

I considered the Lexus, Range Rover, and MB GL, but there was no comparison in my mind.

  3. Cory Rolfson 2024-11-21

Just a friendly reminder to check if the timing chain replacement has been performed. It's worth noting that Nissan may end the recall in January or February 2018, so it's important not to miss the deadline. If the deadline is missed, it could cost up to 4k for an Infiniti dealer to replace. Other than that and a new front axle seal, there have been no issues yet at 100k.

  4. Emilio Stanton 2024-09-14

I've owned Yukons, Denali XLs, Escalades but this is the best SUV I've ever owned by far. Wow!

  5. Brady Walsh 2024-09-08

The interior quality and features are impressive, and the engine is notably strong while providing ample space. However, there is a persistent vibration in the steering and flooring that the dealer has yet to address, despite it not being related to the tires or rims. Additionally, the engine light came on at a surprisingly low 1400 miles. It is worth noting that the fuel efficiency has been lower than expected, with only 12.4 miles per gallon achieved even when keeping the RPM under 2000.
