The Infiniti QX80 (formerly called the Infiniti QX56 until 2013) is a full-size luxury SUV marketed by Nissan's luxury division Infiniti. The first-generation QX56 was built in the United States and is based on the first-generation Armada. The second-generation model was released in 2010 as a model produced in Japan, which used the sixth-generation Patrol (later also marketed as the second-generation Armada since 2016) as the base vehicle instead. Since the 2014 model year in 2013, the vehicle was renamed to the QX80 as Infiniti renamed their entire product line under a new nomenclature.
First generation (JA60; 2004)
The first-generation QX56 (model code JA60) is based on the first-generation Armada, while also sharing the F-Alpha platform with the first-generation Titan. It is the first Infiniti built in the United States. The QX56 was only marketed in the United States, Canada, Russia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Development on the JA60 QX56 began in early 2000 alongside the WA60 Armada. A final design by Masato Takahashi was reached in early 2001, with an August 2001 design freeze for early 2004 start of production.
The rear door handles were installed on the C-pillar as a Nissan design tradition started with the D21 Pathfinder released in 1985 to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with conventional door handles on the front doors.
The first-generation QX56 was powered by a 5.6-liter VK56DE V8 engine (320 hp (239 kW) at 4,900 rpm and 393 lb⋅ft (533 N⋅m) torque at 3,600 rpm) and a 5-speed automatic transmission with an overdrive. As is common with aluminum blocks, each cylinder in the engine was lined with cast iron. The valvetrain was a DOHC design with four valves per cylinder. Infiniti designed the QX56's throttle responsiveness to correspond to specific drivetrain modes: when the driver selects all-wheel drive, the throttle becomes less sensitive, presumably to allow easier regulation of acceleration when off-road.
The QX56 had around 9,000 lb (4,082 kg) of towing capacity. Mileage at peak performance drain is 12 miles per US gallon (20 L/100 km; 14 mpg‑imp). It comes in one trim level, with only key options such as: DVD entertainment system, 4WD/2WD, and a bench instead of captain chairs as the second row. Other features which came standard were a ten-speaker Bose system, DVD-based navigation system, leather trim for all seats, dual-climate control, 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, and an adaptive cruise control system. A Precrash system was a unique feature in the market as well.
Since the demise of the Q45 (which was priced above the QX56) after 2006, the QX56 was the most expensive Infiniti sold in North America and was Infiniti's only full-size vehicle.
In early 2007 for the 2008 model year, the Infiniti QX56 received a minor facelift which included a revised grille, a redesigned interior, a new intelligent key system, more standard equipment, new third-row seats that fold electronically and standard 20-inch chrome wheels. Introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in January 2007, the facelifted model went on sale in April 2007.
After the 2010 model year, the QX56 and Armada no longer share the same body, as the first-generation Armada continued to be produced in the United States until the 2015 model year, while the second-generation QX56 switched to the body used by the Y62 Patrol.

- Summary: A subframe is a key structural component of every car. As such, it stands to reason that it should last as long as the car itself. Doing much research on this model suspension and subframes become rusted as I didn’t know this when purchasing making it very unsafe . I experienced being involved in almost 2 accidents. Very dangerous. Subframe split in half and suspension. Something needs to be done as a lot of people are going thru this issue and Infiniti slogan claims “new horizons” by no means new horizon going to heaven by driving their vehicles.

- Summary: There was previous recall on this vehicle, 10V-074 (Infiniti #R1011) for a fuel sender problem, causing the fuel gauge to be inaccurate. Infiniti says it was fixed in 2010. Unfortunately, I am having the exact same problem now, and have run out of gas twice because of it. Infiniti said they can't help because it was already fixed. Safety issue because running out of fuel while driving is dangerous. Both times has been on an interstate. It was a previously reported recall and "fixed" but has failed again. Infiniti says they won't fix it again.

- Summary: While driving at highway speed, rear of vehicle suddenly became uncontrolled and caused vehicle to swerve dangerously. If a vehicle would have been in the adjacent lane an accident would have occurred. Upon initial inspection, the left rear lower control arm failed catastrophically due to rust rendering the vehicle undrivable. Driver and passenger were put at risk as a result of this incident. Deeper inspection revealed the right rear control arm was also compromised due to rust as well as the two forward mounting points of the modular rear suspension cradle (framework). No warning lights appeared, however the steering wheel did begin correcting to the right just prior to event, similar to heavy wind situation. Parts have not been inspected by manufacturer. This is by far the best vehicle we have ever owned! The interior and exterior are both stunning, and the perforated leather is incredibly soft and comfortable. It comes standard with a sunroof and bright xenon headlamps, and the visibility is fantastic thanks to the huge side view mirrors and high road position. The 400Hp V8 engine makes it incredibly powerful and surprisingly quick for a vehicle of this size. At night, the blue and white gauges are a real treat to look at, and the interior has these lovely little LED lights that glow on the door handles, floor, and ceiling to shine on the dashboard. Infiniti really thought of everything! It has been incredibly reliable over the years I have had it, but just in case, I would recommend getting an extended warranty for extra security. I would definitely recommend this vehicle with a 10/10 rating!

I'm so glad I did my research before making this purchase! The results have been fantastic. The fit, finish, and comfort features are truly top-notch. What's more, many of the luxury options that are only available as add-ons for other brands (like Cadillac, Lincoln, Land Rover, Lexus, and Denali) come standard with this vehicle. Plus, you won't see as many of them on the road, which makes it feel extra special! While Nissan's Armada is a similar option that costs about $7K less, this one has all the bells and whistles. The engine is smooth, quiet, and more powerful, too. Before you go out and buy an Escalade or Navigator, I highly recommend stopping by your Infiniti dealer. You might just end up with one of these beauties in your garage (if it fits, that is!).

This full size SUV is perfect for medium to large families who need ample space and the ability to haul or tow weight. We've taken it through all kinds of weather and terrain, including icy roads, full snow storms, up to 1 foot of snowed in driveways, mud, dirt, and rain, and it has never let us down. With a load of 2 adults, 3 medium to large dogs, and one child, this car outperforms Ford Expeditions, GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe's, and others in the areas of braking, handling and overall feel. Even with a full load of around 800 lbs, we still average about 15.2 mpg. In town, we get around 14.5 mpg and on the freeway with no load, we get around 16.5 mpg going about 70 mph. It's also worth noting that we use regular fuel 87. Overall, we highly recommend this SUV for families who need a reliable and spacious vehicle.

I bought this vehicle from Infiniti of Memphis, my hometown. I live in Arkansas, near the Oklahoma border, which is about 5 hours away. On my way back home, I felt like a first-class passenger flying in a jet. I have driven several different SUVs, and I had to choose between this vehicle and the Cadillac Escalade. Although the Escalade is beautiful on the outside, like the Infiniti, the inside cannot compare. The Cadillac is not only outdated inside, but it also has a pimpish image, which is not what I wanted. When you say Infiniti, it says class, luxury, technology, and performance.

I've owned this vehicle for over two years now, having traded in my Cadillac Escalade for it. I bought it used in 2014 with 28,000 miles and have since put a little over 45,000 miles on it. So far, I absolutely love this vehicle! It handles very well and is incredibly comfortable and smooth, both as a driver and a passenger. The technology package on the vehicle is also great. However, there are a few issues that I have with the vehicle when comparing it to my experiences with my two previous full-size SUVs (a 2007 Yukon Denali and a 2008 Cadillac Escalade) before purchasing the Infiniti QX-56. Firstly, the backup camera design is not great. Visibility is very poor during the day if there is a lot of light coming into the car (such as on a very sunny day). It is practically useless. I have to look back and listen out for the parking sensors on bright sunny days. At night time in very dark areas (with no street or building lighting around), there is also very limited visibility using the backup camera (insufficient lighting). I never had these problems with the backup camera on the Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade. I had zero visibility issues both during the day and night, regardless of how bright or dark it was. In this area, GM has Infiniti beat by a long shot. Secondly, the driver's and passenger's side view mirrors should be able to fold in and out after the vehicle is turned off before the vehicle doors are open. The battery should still hold a charge for about 30 to 60 seconds. If you forget to pull them in before turning off the vehicle, you have to start the car back up or turn on the ignition (hit the start button without stepping on the brakes). This was another feature I liked with the GM trucks I owned. Thirdly, remote start should come standard with this vehicle since it is their flagship SUV. Again, this is another feature that I enjoyed with the GM trucks I owned. Lastly, this is not really a big deal, but the rear panel should be able to open and close in cases where you need to put something long (such as a ladder) back there. (5) This is not really a big deal, but it would be great if the third row seating could be more comfortable, accommodating an adult of average height and weight. I have test driven and ridden in a Lincoln Navigator quite a bit, and I must say that their third row seat is the best. There is literally no difference in comfort between the 2nd and 3rd row seats.

I really appreciate the looks, feel, and driving ability of this car. However, I did experience some issues after purchasing it used at 43,000 miles. Between 50,000 and 60,000 miles, it needed a catalytic converter, air compressor, and timing chain. Fortunately, we had both factory and extended warranties that covered these repairs, which would have cost over $10,000 in total. Additionally, a basketball hit the right-hand passenger review mirror and broke it, which required a replacement costing $1200.00 due to the sensors and fancy camera. When my battery died and left me stranded, we replaced it with another battery, which unfortunately caused the fuse link to go bad. We had to get it towed for $115 and get a new fuse link for $200. After picking it up, I realized the headlights weren't working, so I had to go back again to get that fixed. Lastly, after getting one of the other major repairs done, the service guys turned my heat on 90+ to help the freshly shampooed carpet dry, which unfortunately caused a huge crack in my windshield. Despite these issues, I must say that the service techs at the dealership have always been kind, fast, professional, and provided me with a loaner vehicle each time, which was a positive experience. Although I have always owned Toyota, Acura, and Honda, I still appreciate the beauty and great driving experience of Infiniti cars, but I may need to reconsider buying another one due to my experiences.

Despite my love for this vehicle, I had to put it in the shop at 300 miles due to several issues, including vibrations in the steering wheel, a loud roaring noise when pressing the gas pedal (which remains unresolved), heated seats, and malfunctioning windshield wipers. Unfortunately, the car was in the shop 3-4 times for the same problem, and despite assurances that it was fixed, the issues persisted. However, I am confident in my decision to pursue the Lemon Law and return the vehicle for a refund. It is clear that many others have experienced similar issues with the steering and noise. I remain hopeful that this situation will be resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.

Although there have been some issues with the car, such as the brakes being recalled and the hatchback breaking, I still appreciate its spaciousness, DVD player, and automatic lift for the hatchback. The car's electrical system has been unreliable and has caused some safety concerns, but I am grateful for the back-up camera. Despite these challenges, I am confident in my decision to break the lease early and move on to a more reliable vehicle.
