The Hyundai Grandeur (Korean: 현대 그랜저) is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1986, over five generations.

From 1986 to 1996, the Grandeur was the flagship for Hyundai's South Korean range before the Hyundai Dynasty was introduced. It is marketed globally as the Hyundai Azera. As the Azera, it was the flagship of Hyundai's US and Canadian lineup until the arrival of the Genesis sedan. After the launch of the separate Genesis brand, the Grandeur/Azera resumed its place as the company's flagship.

As of the 2017 model year, the Azera is no longer marketed in the United States and Canada. The sedan continued to be available in South Korea and the Middle East.

Common 2015 Hyundai Azera problems

The 2015 Hyundai Azera, a full-size sedan, is known for its luxurious features and comfortable ride. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems that owners have reported.

One of the most concerning issues is the risk of engine compartment fires due to leaking Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) modules. This issue affects not only the 2015 Azera but also other Hyundai models from 2010 to 2015. The ABS module may leak brake fluid internally, causing an electrical short that can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. Hyundai has issued a recall for this problem and dealers will replace the ABS fuse free of charge. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.

Another issue that has been reported is the failure of the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system

The 2015 Azera is also known to have issues with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The TPMS warning light may illuminate due to low tire pressure or a fault in the TPMS system itself. This issue can be resolved by checking the tire pressure and replacing the TPMS sensor if necessary.

In addition to these specific issues, the 2015 Azera has a higher likelihood of major repairs compared to other vehicles of the same age and model. This is due to the fact that the Azera is equipped with a V6 engine, which can be more expensive to maintain compared to inline-four engines.

Overall, the 2015 Hyundai Azera is a reliable vehicle, but like any car, it has its share of common problems. Owners are advised to stay up to date with recall notices and perform regular maintenance to ensure the longevity of their vehicle.

Is Hyundai Azera a reliable car?

Overall, the Hyundai Azera is a solid contender. According to repairpal.com, the Hyundai Azera scores ⅘, placing it above average in reliability and first out of 12 full-size vehicles. This vehicle scores well in reliability. If you want the best, pick one of the most reliable years available for the Azera.

Why did Hyundai discontinue the Azera?

Korean automaker Hyundai is killing off the Azera sedan for the U.S. market after customers lost interest and the company emphasized its new luxury brand. Originally designed as an upscale model, the Azera fell out of favor after Hyundai shifted its focus to the premium Genesis lineup.

How long do Hyundai Azera last?

Typically, you can expect the Hyundai Azera to last around 200,000 miles with excellent care on your end. The more work you put into careful driving habits and care for the components, the happier your Azera will be and the longer it will last.

Is Hyundai Azera better than Sonata?

Hyundai SONATA. When we compare the Hyundai Azera's and the Hyundai SONATA's specifications and ratings, the Hyundai Azera has the advantage in the areas of interior volume and base engine power.

Negative 2015 Hyundai Azera car reviews

  1. Lexus Ledner 2024-04-29

It's great to hear from you! I wanted to let you know that the car has had some wear and tear over the last three years. However, it's only 6 years old and has been driven for just 45K miles. Despite this, it hasn't aged as well as we would have hoped.

  2. Willard Stiedemann 2024-03-12

I've owned quite a few cars in my time, and while most have been pretty good, this one has been a bit of a letdown. It's not so much the big things - I haven't had any mechanical issues - but the little things that add up. For example, the power seat controls are located on the doors near the C(?) pillar, which means that in order to recline the seat or move it all the way to the rear, you have to maintain a sit-up position until the operation is complete. The GPS is also quite difficult to program, and it has a tendency to take you on strange routes. Even on moderately near destinations, it has a tendency to misdirect you right as you near the destination. The sound system is great - I believe it has 12 speakers - but it's not very intuitive when it comes to programming stations. It's nice to be able to save up to 18 stations per band, but when you push the steering wheel control to move to the next station, it only allows the six stations shown. Overall, while there are some things I don't love about this car, it's still a decent ride.To switch between channels on my GMC, it flows seamlessly without having to take your eyes off the road. Additionally, the voice command feature works exceptionally well, making it easy to find a station to listen to. Although the cooling seats for the driver were minimally effective after the first summer season, the heated seats work perfectly fine. I used to live in the Detroit area for almost 40 years and never had any issues with wheel theft. However, I was surprised to find wheel locks placed on my car, which made it difficult to get a tire rotation. I had to order a key for $15 and replace the lug nuts for another $20, which is not an option I would recommend. It's frustrating that the car takes 3-4 seconds to respond after pressing the gas, and the dealer claims it's normal. As someone who has driven for nearly 40 years and owned multiple cars and vans, I know this is not normal. Although I expected this to be the last car I would buy as I am now in my 60s, I am going to get rid of this car and buy something else.I'm sure there are other issues, such as the keyless entry and start feature, which I personally don't like, but my wife does. The main issue for me is that when I'm getting out of the car and press the lock button, if I'm still in the process of exiting, it won't lock. It's not a big issue, but it bothers me. However, my wife doesn't seem to have a problem with it, so I just mention it in passing.

I used to own a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE and it was an amazing car. Recently, my oldest son turned it in to purchase his first car. In 2013, just after I turned 50, I decided to get a new car and joined my wife in the search. The Hyundai Azera caught my eye and after test driving it, I decided to buy one. Although the ride is decent and the car looks good, I have had some issues with it. The interior is a bit cheap and the trim on the steering wheel is peeling. The Bluetooth is also not great and I had to get it replaced once. Additionally, black soot is present in the exhaust pipes, which seems to be a common issue with Azeras. The biggest issue, however, is that the finish on all four 19-inch alloy wheels is peeling and neither Hyundai nor my dealer, Burns Hyundai in Marlton, NJ, will replace them. Despite these issues, I will be sad to see the car go, but I will be returning to Nissan for my next car.

Positive 2015 Hyundai Azera car reviews

  1. Pedro Keeling 2025-02-20

I tend to buy new cars every 2 to 3 years because I get bored with them. Over the years, I have owned Lexus, BMW, Infiniti, Honda and Toyotas, all of which were good cars, but none of them stood out. However, the 2013 Azera caught my eye with its sleek look, beautiful paint color, and nice-looking wheels. The car has plenty of legroom, and the back seat is spacious enough for adults, not just kids. It consistently gets 21 mpg in the city and 30 to 32 mpg on the interstate, and the V6 engine has great passing power, making merging a breeze. The six-speed auto transmission is very smooth and never wanders looking for gears. The heated and cooled seats are fantastic and work great, and the rear heated seats are a hit with my kids. What sold me on the car was the Infinity car stereo, which has plenty of bass and clear, crisp music. The 550-watt sound system is amazing, and the satellite radio works great. The quiet interior and great ride also surprised me. The panoramic moonroof is very nice, and the navigation is a clear, crisp picture that is easy to use and read. The Bluetooth for the phone is also very easy to use and set up. The trunk has enough room for 2 full-size suitcases, 2 kids' suitcases, and a full-size cooler, and there is still room left over. The only thing that really bugged me is the fact that remote start is not included on a $40,000 car, and I have to pay over $300 a year for bluelink if I want remote start from a phone.I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with fuel octanes. I've been using both 87 and 91 octanes in my car, but I haven't noticed any difference in the engine's performance or fuel efficiency. This is unlike my previous cars, which would run better and smoother on 91 octane despite being rated for 87. I was initially hesitant to buy a Hyundai, but after test driving several other cars, including the 2013 Lincoln MKZ and MKS, 2014 Lexus ES350, Infiniti M series, 2012 and 2013 Toyota Avalon, 2012 Nissan Maxima, 2012 Acura TL, 2013 Accord V6, and 2014 Impala LTZ, I fell in love with the Azera's features and comforts. However, I did experience some issues with the car around 50k miles, including new timing chains, timing chain tensioner, cam phasers, oil leaks, and misfires on numerous cylinders. After several repairs, they finally decided to put in a new engine at 55k miles. I just got it back today, so only time will tell how it performs. Thanks for listening!

  2. Narciso Ratke 2025-02-01

You'll find that this car has everything the Lexus ES 350 has to offer, except for the nameplate and price.

  3. Nolan Rolfson 2025-01-26

It's such a shame that Hyundai USA won't be importing the Azera anymore. It's the best car I've ever owned! It's perfect for long trips and cruising, with beautiful styling and a comfortable yet not too soft ride. It's powerful yet refined, and I can't help but feel a little sad about it. As of October 2019, it has 85K miles and is still in excellent condition! The only maintenance expenses have been for oil, filters, tires, wiper blades, etc. I haven't even had to replace a belt or hose! There are a few dents and nicks, but the paint is still intact and there's no rust at all, even though I live in southern Minnesota where winter road chemicals are used profusely! I'll be changing to winter tires by Thanksgiving, Michelin X-ices, which are excellent for all winter road conditions. From April through October, I use Pirelli P7s, unless early or late snows occur. I wonder if Hyundai is planning to export the new Azera to the USA? I certainly hope so!

  4. Marlon Nolan 2025-01-15

I'm 27 years old and I've only ever owned luxury cars, such as Mercedes and BMW. When I was ready to move on from my BMW, I walked into the dealership with the intention of leaving with an Acura TLX. I test drove the TLX and a Kia Optima, but they didn't have everything I was looking for. That's when my boyfriend suggested I try out the 2013 Hyundai Azera (used, of course). At first, I was hesitant because I'd never heard of it before, but after driving it, I was blown away! The exterior was sporty yet luxurious, the interior was spacious (with plenty of room in the front, back, and trunk), and the interior design was just as impressive as anything I'd had with my past luxury cars, if not more so! I drove it like I would any other car, and it was smooth and fast. The cabin was so quiet, and the mpg was a huge consideration for me, which the Azera did well for a luxury car. Plus, the price for what I was getting was amazing! I was sold, and I left the dealership that day with my new car. I've been driving it for almost 5 months now, and I couldn't be happier. I haven't had any issues with it, and I was even in a small fender bender where the other person's car was damaged, but mine wasn't at all, which was very impressive. Every time someone gets in my car, they ask me, 'What kind of car is this again? This is really nice!' I even had someone get upset after I told them what I spent on it because they felt stupid for buying their car for way more and getting way less. I absolutely love my car, and I think it deserves more recognition.

  5. Domenico Bogisich 2025-01-06

My wife and I were searching for a new car and we looked at several models including Maximas, Fusions, Camrys, Avalons, and more. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a car that we absolutely loved. However, I remembered driving a Hyundai Genesis as a rental while traveling for business and suggested we give Hyundai a chance. We were pleasantly surprised when we found the Azera and were blown away by every detail! This tech package car has everything we were looking for, from its sleek and sporty looks to its spacious interior that can comfortably accommodate a family of four. The premium leather, Infinity sound system, Bluetooth tech package/navigation system, panoramic sunroof, power back glass shade, and great power heated and cooled seats were all added bonuses. We were also pleased to discover that this car is very economical, getting anywhere from 26 to 30mpg! Plus, it drives like a sports car! If you haven't tried one yet, you are definitely missing out!!!
