The Hyundai Grandeur (Korean: 현대 그랜저) is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1986, over five generations.

From 1986 to 1996, the Grandeur was the flagship for Hyundai's South Korean range before the Hyundai Dynasty was introduced. It is marketed globally as the Hyundai Azera. As the Azera, it was the flagship of Hyundai's US and Canadian lineup until the arrival of the Genesis sedan. After the launch of the separate Genesis brand, the Grandeur/Azera resumed its place as the company's flagship.

As of the 2017 model year, the Azera is no longer marketed in the United States and Canada. The sedan continued to be available in South Korea and the Middle East.

Some owners have also reported issues with the materials used in the car, particularly in the tropics. EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-07-08
  • VIN: KMHFG4JG1DA
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
  • Summary: I like to report that this vehicle developed moisture inside the head lamps and it has inside a silver/ look like tent foil spread all over. At nigh we can’t see the road. We replaced the light and bought the most brighter once $109.@ and we still can’t see at night. It is a safety issue since we can see. I’m not the only one you have1000s of customers with the same issues but they have bought the part in Amazon’s. My problem about that is that they do not sale them for my car it said that is for Sonata. And that once you buy it you would have to get a built hule that fits. This is one of the comments on companies: 10:31 5G: 83 ' F FMac8413 V 1 post • Joined 2022 #1 • May 29, 2022 Well I inherited a 2013 Azera. Nothing but light things are useless I can’t see at night and the look bad. Would a 2011 sonata parts fit my 2013 Azera? It would have to be a matter of bolt holes being different because side by side these cars look identical! Anyway any serious input is greatly appreciated.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-07
  • VIN: KMHFH4JG0DA
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: [XXX] Bought a used 2013 Hyundai Azera. Since day 1 it has overheating issue. Within the first 2 wks of ownership, we replaced the radiator cap, thermostat, and had engine checked for leaks at Pep Boys. Replacing the water pump was next. On the night of [XXX] we replaced the water pump. Cranked engine and no leakage, so I decided to take my car home which was 45 minutes away. After driving for 15-20 minutes, the temp gauge was almost topped out, so I slowed down. I was approaching a gas station in a town halfway to home and decided I needed to pull in, but the car suddenly and steadily lost power. I had barely enough power to pull into a space away from door (I just knew it was bad and I didn't want car in the business's way). Car would not crank after being shut off for about 20 minutes. I called my husband and he brought a car hauler trailer to put it on. The vehicle was checked for leaks by PepBoys, but it is going for a reputable mechanic inspection soon as can be scheduled. So I had this car not even 30 days, paid cash for it (which I hope to recover) and mechanic friend of mine tells me it's a blown head gasket. From what I've read, it has the 3.3L Lambda engine causing issues for other model vehicles. Is there a recall? What options for replacement are there? Anyone can inspect the car at any time. It is just taking up a space in the apartment parking lot right now. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-09-22
  • VIN: KMHFH4JGXDA
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: According to the recall letter that was mailed to me in October of 2023, it says "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL- Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall remedy is completed." It says that the Anti Lock Brake System could leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short over time. This could lead to an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. As of today, April 6, 2024 there is no remedy for this recall. I have called the Hyundai dealer many times and asked for a solution. They said there is still no solution and refused to buy back the vehicle because of its age. Instead they suggested I try to sell the car privately.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-09-22
  • VIN: KMHFH4JG2DA
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: Hyundai recall #251 was originally issued in late September of 2023. It is now almost 6 months since issuance and remedy has yet been transmitted to Hyundai dealer repair facility. It is very well accepted that the remedy will be to replace the ABS fuse, a fairly easy fix, but still no official letter or notice from Hyundai. Six months during winter months to keep car outside for safety is dangerous and unsafe in itself. Personal note - I love my Azera, but will definitely not buy another Hyundai because of their unacceptable delay in this recall repair.

Negative 2013 Hyundai Azera car reviews

  1. Chaz Schamberger 2024-10-18

I've owned quite a few cars in my time, and while most have been pretty good, this one has been a bit of a letdown. It's not so much the big things - I haven't had any mechanical issues - but the little things that add up. For example, the power seat controls are located on the doors near the C(?) pillar, which means that in order to recline the seat or move it all the way to the rear, you have to maintain a sit-up position until the operation is complete. The GPS is also quite difficult to program, and it has a tendency to take you on strange routes. Even on moderately near destinations, it has a tendency to misdirect you right as you near the destination. The sound system is great - I believe it has 12 speakers - but it's not very intuitive when it comes to programming stations. It's nice to be able to save up to 18 stations per band, but when you push the steering wheel control to move to the next station, it only allows the six stations shown. Overall, while there are some things I don't love about this car, it's still a decent ride.To switch between channels on my GMC, it flows seamlessly without having to take your eyes off the road. Additionally, the voice command feature works exceptionally well, making it easy to find a station to listen to. Although the cooling seats for the driver were minimally effective after the first summer season, the heated seats work perfectly fine. I used to live in the Detroit area for almost 40 years and never had any issues with wheel theft. However, I was surprised to find wheel locks placed on my car, which made it difficult to get a tire rotation. I had to order a key for $15 and replace the lug nuts for another $20, which is not an option I would recommend. It's frustrating that the car takes 3-4 seconds to respond after pressing the gas, and the dealer claims it's normal. As someone who has driven for nearly 40 years and owned multiple cars and vans, I know this is not normal. Although I expected this to be the last car I would buy as I am now in my 60s, I am going to get rid of this car and buy something else.I'm sure there are other issues, such as the keyless entry and start feature, which I personally don't like, but my wife does. The main issue for me is that when I'm getting out of the car and press the lock button, if I'm still in the process of exiting, it won't lock. It's not a big issue, but it bothers me. However, my wife doesn't seem to have a problem with it, so I just mention it in passing.

  2. Liam Price 2024-09-25

It's great to hear from you! I wanted to let you know that the car has had some wear and tear over the last three years. However, it's only 6 years old and has been driven for just 45K miles. Despite this, it hasn't aged as well as we would have hoped.

  3. Sim Sanford 2024-09-04

I used to own a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE and it was an amazing car. Recently, my oldest son turned it in to purchase his first car. In 2013, just after I turned 50, I decided to get a new car and joined my wife in the search. The Hyundai Azera caught my eye and after test driving it, I decided to buy one. Although the ride is decent and the car looks good, I have had some issues with it. The interior is a bit cheap and the trim on the steering wheel is peeling. The Bluetooth is also not great and I had to get it replaced once. Additionally, black soot is present in the exhaust pipes, which seems to be a common issue with Azeras. The biggest issue, however, is that the finish on all four 19-inch alloy wheels is peeling and neither Hyundai nor my dealer, Burns Hyundai in Marlton, NJ, will replace them. Despite these issues, I will be sad to see the car go, but I will be returning to Nissan for my next car.

The best bargain in a luxury car. It competes well with cars many thousands more expensive.

  2. Hadley Bradtke 2024-10-22

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Hyundai. I purchased it used in 2020 with 92K miles on it and I have to say, I'm really impressed with how solid this vehicle is. Three years later and with 130K miles on it, it's still going strong! The only minor issues I've had are that the seat adjustments are on the door, which isn't the most comfortable for passengers, and the radio is pretty basic so it doesn't display what my Bluetooth is streaming. Additionally, the backup camera doesn't beep when I'm getting too close to objects. Lastly, I've been getting a blulink message that pops up every time I start the car, but it's not a big deal. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend a Hyundai to anyone looking for a reliable car.

Best choice and Hidden Hyundai jewel. My car has nothing to envy to the expensive makes and models out there. It is fully equipped and handles great.

As a ride share driver who drives 2,000 miles a month, I can attest that this car is not only stylish but also incredibly comfortable to sit in and drive. With the technology package or the Limited trim, this car has everything that a 12 cylinder Mercedes and stretch limo has, including ventilated and heated seats, rear side window shades, a rear window shade that automatically goes down when you back up, and an enormous panoramic sunroof. The driver seat is the widest I've ever seen, and it's incredibly comfortable. The power controls to adjust the seat are on the door and not on the lower left side of the seat, which means there's no need to leave an empty space for your arm to fit between the door and seat to access the seats power controls, thus they used that room to widen the seat. This car has lots more bells and whistles, but it's as good as a $70,000 car. Enjoy yourself when you drive!

Congratulations on your new purchase! My wife and I recently bought a 2013 Hyundai Azera after test driving Nissan's Maxima. As previous Nissan owners, we have owned several Altimas, Maximas, and Infinity G35's. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the Azera reminded us of the Infinity G35 Sport Sedan we bought in 2004, but with many more features. The Bluetooth and stereo are fantastic, and the leather seating and interior room are spacious and comfortable. We highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a great sedan at a reasonable price, comparable to a Lexus, BMW, or Cadillac.
