2020 Honda Passport problems
The Honda Passport is a line of sport utility vehicles (SUV) from the Japanese automaker Honda. Originally, it was a badge engineered version of the Isuzu Rodeo, a mid-size SUV sold between 1993 and 2002. It was introduced in 1993 for the 1994 model year as Honda's first entry into the growing SUV market of the 1990s in the United States. The first and second generation Passport was manufactured by Subaru Isuzu Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana. Like various other Honda models, it re-used a name from their motorcycle division, the Honda C75 Passport. The other two name candidates were Elsinore and Odyssey, the latter would be re-used a year later on a minivan.
The Passport was a part of a partnership between Isuzu and Honda in the 1990s, which saw an exchange of passenger vehicles from Honda to Isuzu, such as the Isuzu Oasis, and trucks from Isuzu to Honda, such as the Passport and Acura SLX. This arrangement was convenient for both companies, as Isuzu discontinued passenger car production in 1993 after a corporate restructuring, and Honda was in desperate need of an SUV, a segment that was growing in popularity in North America as well as Japan during the 1990s. The partnership ended in 2002 with the discontinuation of the Passport in favor of the Honda-engineered Pilot.
In November 2018, Honda announced that the Passport nameplate would return as a two-row mid-size crossover SUV slotted between the CR-V and Pilot. The third-generation Passport was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 27, 2018. It is built at Honda's factory in Lincoln, Alabama, and available for the 2019 model year.

I recently purchased a 2021 Passport Elite, upgrading from a 2017 Civic Turbo that had an impressive 38 MPG. At first, I was surprised to find that I was only getting around 18 MPG in my new car, even though I had been using the Econ mode since day one. However, after reading a review that warned against using Econ mode, I turned it off and was pleasantly surprised by the superior performance and gas mileage, which increased to almost 22 MPG. I have had some difficulty with parallel parking due to the larger size of the Passport, but I think auto parallel parking would have been a major help. Occasionally, I hear random beeping, which I assume is from the sensors, but there are no indicators of any problems or detection of lane departure or other vehicles. While the Passport may not be the most stylish car on the road, I prioritized quality and comfort over looks and am still extremely satisfied with its overall performance.

Great vehicle to drive! It has lots of extra features and is easy to handle. Plus, it gets good gas mileage (21 mpg and I live in NYC).

The Passport is a solid SUV, albeit a little on the big side. It runs well and handles quite well too. However, the technology could use some improvement. The collision mitigation system goes off frequently when passing oncoming traffic, and the object detection is not consistent. Additionally, the auto high beams don't function properly or at all on the Passports, according to the service department. On the bright side, the lane departure and cruise control functions work well. As for the engine idle stop, you'll have to disable it each time the car is started, or you may have to replace the car battery every 2 years. I'm not sure if that's what killed the battery, but it was replaced under warranty. Overall, the Passport has great support and tons of room. I just wish the technology was better.

I recently purchased the 2020 Passport instead of the Pilot because I didn't need a third row. The salesman told me that the Passport is basically the same as the Pilot, but with two rows instead of three, so I decided to go for it. However, I've noticed that the Passport is consuming a lot of gas. I'm only getting 16.7 miles to the gallon, which is quite disappointing. I called the service department and the technician suggested that I bring it in. After the inspection, he told me that it might be the way I'm driving the car and that I might be heavy-footed. I decided to test drive the Pilot to compare the gas mileage. The salesman warned me that the Pilot is heavier and might consume more gas, but I still wanted to give it a try. To my surprise, I got 21.8 miles to the gallon after driving it for 7 miles in the same area I drive my Passport. When I got back to the dealership, the salesman was surprised to hear that I was getting better mileage with the Pilot than the Passport. I'm having the car inspected, but I feel like I might have been misled. I would have been happy to pay more money for the Pilot for the better gas mileage and the option to fold the third row down.
